  1. Just think of all the fish you'll be harrassing once you get the bugs sorted out. You got alot of christening to do Tom.. Want some help?
  2. What weight metals are you chucking? You must have to work pretty hard to get any real speed into your lure with a 300 Luna. It may be an option to get a spin rod in the spec your after and get it rebuilt.
  3. good paddock? Try filthy sesspool... She fell to a bett's spin blade with 2" appleseed grub. The lure of choice for the sub 30cm fish the system usually produces. I had no idea this calibre of fish still swam these waters. She was released unharmed to continue to contribute to the population.
  4. Not a bad first fish for the 2012/13 season. I'm going to have to remember a decent camera one of these days. The cam on my phone just doesn't do the fish justice. She went 52cm to the fork and 55cm total length.
  5. You should be quite happy with your purchase. I run a magnum butt with a 2500 certate r custom, It has accounted for many a soapy, bucket loads of salmon from the stones and a few Vanuatu trevs to around 3-4kgs. Not to meantion a barra in excess of a meter which Jewhunter succesfull bashed off with the net
  6. Week 2 in Vanuatu and i still haven't done any fishing.... Working 7 days a week is for chumps!!!

  7. Unfortunately you cannot hold the glow plug with pliers as it will need to be earthed for the plug to work. What you can do to test your glow plugs is... (use extreme caution) remove all glow plugs. Get a set of jumper leads. connect one end of the leads to your battery terminals. using the other end of the black cable, carefully grasp the glow plug around the hexagonal section of the body. then with the red lead touch the small threaded post at the end of the glow plug. do this for no longer than say 3-4 seconds. the glow plug should become extremely hot in this time. If not then it is buggered. Considering you changed your glow plugs recently, i would be checking the power supply first.
  8. Check that there is a power supply to your glow plugs. Take a multimeter, set it to DC volts on the 20 volt scale and measure between the wire which connects to the glow plug, and earth. If you get nothing, have a look at relays and fuses. The problem is more than likely electrical. If you do get a voltage(12v) the issue is more than likely something else. Test your glow plugs. Does your car blow large amounts of black smoke? Poorly atomising injectors will also cause difficulties in starting.
  9. Only 4 more days of PNG then I'll be back to harrass the local mulloway population

  10. Well Done Jani Great to see you having such great success so close to home. I must plan a trip to finland one of these days maybe during beaver hunting season.
  11. The stealth approach really worked for you though.. You'll have to whip out the wand again and try to get one on the dirty mirkin
  12. Good on ya tony, A beautiful bass in anyones book.. ...but enough about bronze fish, its about time we go GREEN!!!
  13. I don't see why you couldn't put it on the roof racks. It wouldn't exceed the weight limit on most good roof racks(70kg). But i think you would get a hernia trying to get it up there in the first place. I own an outback and that is about the limit you can get on/off the car by yourself, and thats only 30kg hull weight. The Pro Angler has a hull weight of 50kg. If it had to be trailered, i would probably buy a tinnie instead. The storage and stability of the Pro exceeds any other yak i've seen, though i guess you'd expect that with the price tag.
  14. At least that would enable these fish to spawn before they are harvested.
  15. The phrase "knobs all over it" refers to your statement having flaws. There is no reason to get your panties in a knot. I've never met you or fished with you and you tell me to learn to tie knots and learn to cast. Wake up. If you can't debate something without getting all worked up then maybe you should grab your bat and ball. The document is dated 2005. But the infomation gathered over the 50years prior depicts a trend. Considering the bag/size limits and commercial fishing practices have remained unchanged for the past 7 years, it is pretty fair to assume those trends continue until present, and wouldn't take a rocket scientist to forcast future trends if controls aren't implemented. I don't target snapper, I haven't researched snapper, and i wouldn't give input on the management stragies of snapper. However i do fish for mulloway, i have studied mulloway and have caught plenty of them. If you can come up with a good argument i would look forward debating it with you. I don't wish to debate snapper.
  16. Your statement has knobs all over it... Here's a bit of education for you Mulloway status Pay close attention to table 2.3. on the comparison between recreational and commercial catches. Now i don't confess to be a mathematician, but its is a little more than 1%. What is also interesting to note is the mean size of the fish caught. If you continue reading it states, in 2001 approximately 137000 fish were retained by recreation fishos and roughly 36000 were discarded. While you may be doing the morally correct thing in releasing the majority of your catch and only keeping larger specimens, the vast majority of the angling public don't. Restrictions should not only apply to the recreational sector. The commercial sector and even the fishing techniques of other industries that impact mulloway populations (like the prawning industry) need to be reviewed and control measures implemented to avoid the decline of the mulloway fishery. Mulloway unlike Snapper are a schooling fish. Which makes them particularly vulnerable to overfishing, especially during thier spawning aggregations. Hence why a closed season for recreational and commercial fishing should be considered to protect this spawning stock.
  17. The reason for considering these conservation options is not because reco fisherman can't catch thier bag. The Mulloway stocks are declining, they have be steadily declining for the past 30 years. You only need to look at the pros reported catches in that period to see this trend. This species has had too much presure for too long. Action must be taken before the stocks are unable to recover. To take the DO NOTHING approach is ignorant, irresponsible and morally arse up! Everyone carries on these days about releasing big flatties (which i agree with). "they are the breeders"......etc. even though flatties almost plauge our esturies. Or catch and release fishing for bream and bass. But when a mulloway is caught, even a juvenile 50cm model which hasn't had the chance to breed, it is killed and boasted about like it is some great achievement. Its about time anglers are educated about this species and begin to apply the same moral judgement as we are seeing with flatties, bream and bass! + =
  18. I use leftovers for Knot practice and destructive testing. Especially when practicing Biminis, PR's and Mid knots which consume a fair bit of line. You can keep tying them over and over untill you become proficient at them, then attach them between a set of scales and an immovable object and pull untill they fail. What better way to to build faith in your knots?
  19. ^^Hahahaha!!!! Don't fret. A couple of 50kg GT's will gladly releave you of a few of theose poppers. At least you won't get stung so bad with excess baggage on th way back
  20. MMmmmmmmm...... Calamari rings the size of truck tyres....
  21. Hats off to that... My most memorable would have to be an 8.2kg swampy on 4lb. I must have got smoked 10 times before i fanally landed one. I reckon some of the ones that did me would have been over 10kg. 4lb, logs and weed, you do the math.. For an obnoxious pest their pretty bloody good fun.
  22. I was doing it abit tough trying to get Jew baits. I only managed one squid early that morning and really needed to supplement my bait supplies. I got to the beach a little earlier than usual in order to spin the headland and try to spin up a few tailor. All I managed was a Bonnie and a few little Macks. I kept the bonnie and a mack as bait, and steaked a claim on a gutter before sunset. I got 4 baits off the bonnie and 4 off the mack. In the next 3 hours i got bitten off 5 times and landed 3 noahs. The only attention the squid baits got was from the local bream population. One 35cm model was unlucky enough to get pinned in the side with an 8/0 as he gorged himself on my hard earnt calamari. Unless i want to catch sharks, I'll give bonnies/tuna a miss from now on.
  23. sure was... A bit silly i know, but the electrical storm went around me, i just copped the rain.
  24. I do. Be prepared to get bitten off a bit. Noah's love burley more than the jews. Last night i got bitten off 6 times and landed 4 whalers between 4-8kg. One of them pulled over a hundred meters of 30lb before it bit me off, and it hadn't even looked like slowing down.
  25. Only 3 more days and i'll be out of this desert hell hole... I'm foaming to get a cast away!
