Depends on the weather and conditions of the rivers when i get home.

  6. Thanks for the encouragment and your support in catch of the month. I can't wait to get back home and have another crack at them.
  7. I own a Nitro Sniper for my beach whiting fishing. It is 10'6, 3-6kg, is as light as a feather and ultra sensitive. I use this same rod for throwing 30gr metals. I can cast them a genuine 70-75m with a 4000 certate and 20lb braid. Great fun on the sambos and i hope to have a crack at a few leadies with it when i get back to Sydney. They retail for $330
  8. Well done bud! Even after you land 100 jews, you'll still remember that first one.
  9. COOKIE67, If i have it my way, it won't be too long before I'm up that way again. I look forward to catching up for a beer and a fish when i do. Dean, For once in my life i was prepared, and had a second roll in my bag. We'll have another crack at the big silver fish when i get back!
  10. Looks like an awesome couple of days... Great to see your young fella getting amongst the action.
  11. 3000 SOL out of the reels you listed. But my personal preferance would be for a new 3000 Caldia, they are a bit more expensive but alot more reel.
  12. The AJ report is somewhere. I posted it on tuesday. Back in Alice now... Grrr Hopefully i'll be back in time for next moon.
  13. Thanks Stewy, After 4 1/2 hours sleep in two nights, and worked 8 hrs both days, i'm a little wrecked!
  14. Around a meter. My method of measuring fish on the beach is a bit crued. It invovles the rod i caught it on and a roll of electrical tape. Just measure the fish with the rod and apply a ring of tape on the blank so you can measure it later. Its been a pretty good year so far...
  15. Heres one from last night. He was taken on a livie on the change of tide. I only managed one quick snap before the battery died on my camera. I gave it a quick measure and released it unharmed. Its was an awesome sight watching him swim from my head torch beam and into the depths of the gutter i pulled him from.
  16. Your a maniac slink!! Absolutely awesome post... not bad for a fly ponce! Thanks for a great few days
  17. We got back from our Cod trip on Sunday night. Grant had no choice but to work the next day, so I made plans to go offshore with my good mate Greg, aka Browndog. We loaded with livies in no time and went in search of a few kings. We found fish on the sounder but drift after drift our live offerings were refused. We were considering moving on when my borrowed Pro Blue Loomis loads to the weight of a good fish. Some how i wrestled the fish from the reef and towards the surface. Where it was met by Greg and some handy net work. It was a solid Estuary Cod of 86cm and 12kg-ish. We quickly released the fish as they are protected and it was such a beautiful specimen. Unfortunatly no consideration was given to taking a pic until the fish was returned to its domain, but it is vivid in my memory. The plan was made to head a bit further out and drift a mark in 75m of water. Drift after drift produced nothing and were just starting to consider pulling the pin when the pro blue loads and line starts being stripped from the little Daiwa Capricon J. After a few minutes of heart in mouth stuff, i started to gain the upper hand and led the fish away from his reef. After a few more half hearted runs my PB Amberjack was gaffed and in the boat. He went a healthy 95cm, and is yet another PB smashed in an unforgetable 2 weeks
  18. I have been fortunate enough to have spent the last 3 days along side some great mates, Chasing the iconic Murray Cod. The natural beauty of the australian outback is almost as mind blowing as the fishing. The first cast of the trip secured my first Cod, and that set the pace for the next 2 days. We caught a total of 40 Cod between us, with plenty coming in the 3-4kg class and a couple of 6-7kg models thrown in for good measure. But the icing on the cake was a 109cm brute which took a fancy to my surface lure. We could only estimate the weight, but we have on good authority that a fish in that class would be nudging the magic 50lb mark. I only have a few photos, but i'm sure Grant and Tony will contribute some of the pics from their cameras. I think i got my Mojo back with vengence....
  19. My 2 favorite jew rods are a wilson supergraph FSU5120 and a Nitro Messiah 13". Both are overhead rods but are available in spin configuration. The MT8144 will cast big baits well, but weight does become an issue on those long nights.
  20. I'm no fortune teller, but i see a few cod and a sh*t load of blue cans for the next few days!!!!! Yew!!

I think you need a new job! Great call, except a shedload of cod & only a few blue cans!!

  21. Well done Hodgey... Its always great to get a PB, especially when it was your target species.
  22. She's a great dog. I have had her for about 9 years and she's as loyal and obedient as they come. She has an anoying habit of fishing around my tub and catching my livies, then eats the heads?? And burying my bait and anyfish i catch...
  23. Went for a beach sesh the other night. Was a bit quiet to start with and i didn't really rate the conditions, but about an hour before the turn I got a hook into this little fella, I then battled my way through a plauge of dog sharks. I landed 5 in the next 2 hours... Grrr! I was contemplating pulling the pin when i hooked another soapy. I pulled the hooks as i skulled draged the little tacker up the beach, and before i could grab him, he was reclaimed by the waves. The bites dryed up after that for at least an hour. I was starting to get a bit tired (which happens at 3 in the morning) and was making myself a coffee when the rod loads in thr rod holder. I set the hook and preceaded to hoist another minijew up the beach. The're so cute when the're young! I hung around till sunrise, but experienced not other interest. Shame none of the bigger models decided to play, But thats Jew fish'n All fish were released!
  24. Congratulations on some quality fish in some truely magnificent country. I'm looking forward to getting back to the sweetwater myself.
