  1. Righto, i should probably elaborate more.... the amount of braid you can fit will vary between brands, so you may well get 250 ish metres of 50lb on your 16N. Personally i would want no less than 300m if i was jigging for anything bigger than school kings. I'm not a fan of the 40N as it sits very high on the rod and wobbles when you crank. I run an AVET Black Magic BMX for my downrigging and light jigging, with 500m of 30lb FINS on it. My next step up is a Saragosa with 50lb and then a TORSA 30 with 500m 80lb

  3. the 16N is only a tiny reel mate, it will be ok for inshore kings but it will not hold enough line for jigging in 100m.
  4. The Picture doesnt do it justice.... but a 72cm sandy...
  5. I'd like to make a generalisation about the value of clean tech engines..... Given the proliferation of the newer clean tech engines, regardless of the benefits, selling a boat with a four stroke or DFi engine is infinately easier. Personally when i am looking at boats i will not consider anything other than a four stroke or DFI.
  6. I tried a similar thing with a plactic bin, but it took forever to fill up and it was impossible to move once full.
  7. Mercury use an inline 4 for their 2 stroke 115hp, which is a terrible motor.... as for the only three DFI two stroke on the market the Optimax is a 1.5L inline three, compared to a 1.7L V4 for Evinrude and a 1.8L Inline 4 for the Tohatsu TLDI.
  8. Go the trinidad mate... 40N for more capacity.
  9. This is probably better suited to "boating" but i'll throw up some points for you. - 40%+ less fuel consumption - No smoke or smell - Less oil consumption, little or no chance of fouling plugs. - Smoother running, less noise and vibration - Fuel injected, starts cold first kick every morning. - better resale value. I had the 90hp Optimax and it was a fantastic motor.
  10. would it be more practical to mount the light to a bimini or rocket launcher?
  11. I have had some very sucessful days over at the HWO, but in any sort of westerly wind which are prevalent around August moll point is a great place to shelter.
  12. Hi Matem there is not really a way to rig baits to avoid salmon and target kingies, the humble aussie salmon is par for the course in the cold waters at this time of year, generally once you find the kings, they are there in quantity... if you are afraid of loosing baits to salmon, try sending your fresh squid out in strips or as a head to give you more shots at bagging a king. Cheers Sam
  13. Hi Mate, I have marked it out on the map for you. Cheers. Sam
  14. Great setup there mate, i'll be looking to do a similar thing in time for marlin season this summer
  15. Well done as always Oz! personally i prefer to use my own skills as a fisherman to hunt out some fish... getting co-ordinates and going straight there is really cheating yourself... I have caught HEAPS of fish just by scouting out some fishy looking areas, interesting things on the sounder and structure that you would expect to hold fish... It will only make you a better fisherman. Also, newbies to the sport of fishing, the most important thing by far is to work out how to gather live bait... you may well find the kings at your chosen location, but unless you have the correct offering of bait you are not going ot get very far.

  17. Awesome video there mate! what rod is the saltiga on?
  18. "Trevally Alley" is situated along the eastern facing wall of the container terminal. Best results can be had by anchoring 20 or so metres from the wall, and using a burley trail of stale bread, chicken pellets and pilchards... Float some pilchard tails and prawns down the trail and you should be in business.
