  1. Have a look at the Furuno 620C too mate , the graphics dont look as nice as the HDS but a really good fish finder / sounder.
  2. Yeah Bump its got me thinking too , You assume that what you are told will stand true when the time comes but I feel rather shafted right now. Kinda sucks.
  3. Hi There , Mate i hope too that it is good , I will be around Longy looking for a feed . Have a comp on so will be fishing hard and I will keep an eye out for you . All the best.
  4. Alphabet , It is a bit of a worry given that these items are sold with a 10 year warranty aint it
  5. I have been in contact with shimano this afternoon and have spoken to the service manager , I asked the question about the 10 year warranty and was told that the internal bearings are not covered ????? He has agreed to come to some sort of agreement once I go to collect . Still believe that the 10 year warranty should cover internal parts which are sealed away from any salt.
  6. Hi There Everyone , I dropped off my 8000SW Stella direct to the manufacturer for a service on Monday . I have owned the reel since November 2009 and bought it new . Have caught good size kings, jobfish , snapper , yellowfin x 1 and other fish but have never really had the drag over 10kg . Thought it would be best to service it after all the action it has seen so far , anyway I received a call from the company service department today and was told that the service cost was $300 No to me this does seem a little excessive , I bought the reel thinking that they are pretty much the best out there, will need minimal work, and will last forever if treated right which I do . Apparently the bearings needed changing as well as other bits and bobs . I have had other reels for years that have never been serviced and still going strong. I want to know if this has happened to other fishos out there ? Have you had your stella serviced by the actual manufacturer and had the same result where bearings need replacing after 10 months . Seems that the best products are not only the most expensive but also are the most fragile . Dont get me wrong I love the reel and it really is a pleasure to fight a hard pulling fish on it , BUT I am surprised at the result on the reel after such a short time . I am very interested to hear from anyone. Thanks

  14. Hi All , I have been using a mates electric reel at browns , getting good gemmies and am now looking at going halves in an outfit with another mate . What is everyone using and are you happy with it ? Looking at the tanacoms , various others , but really I dont know much about them, so I figured its best to get advise from people who have owned one. A secondhand one would be a lot more affordable too , so if you know of one please PM me. Thanks heaps Brad
  15. Danm that bloody seal !! The thing must live there ,it must be so fat . I have lost a number of kings to it and seen alot of other guys getting smoked by it too. At least you came home with all of your jigs though, as for the fish on the bottom I think that they might be nanny's . I have seen them there before too but I havent tried to bait one , but I have seen the same sounding on shallower reefs around 50 to 80 mts and caught nanny's.
  16. Thanks guys , I could resist once I had the tiagra in my hands , anyway hopefully it will go to my young fella one day. Still yet to christen it too !!!! Thanks again Brad

    Sea maps

Hi All, I have been searching the web for comprehensive maps of the locations of offshore reefs and their distances from shore. Its hard to find them, hence why I am asking you guys if you know a site where it shows the spots , such as browns , heatons and any others such as the peak and 12 mile. Any help would be fantastic as I am curious to see the wider marks, I have 12 mile and the peak but it would be interesting to see them compared to wider . Cheers Brad
  19. Hi All , I have decided that I need a quality rod and reel to chase tuna and billfish , my TLD won't cut it . Is there anywhere you can recommend to buy from ? A secondhand one would be cheaper. Any ideas ? Thanks Brad

    Emergency call

Hi All, You probably heard last weekend that a man went missing overboard on a yacht that is wife was on . Well my mate and I were the first at the scene , saw a lady waving our boat over so we went to see what the trouble was. As we approched she was screaming that her husband was overboard and she was unsure where he fell as she was sleeping. My mate and I thought " Oh my God " where did you last see him. She was saying that it was around long reef but the area is quite large. So we called for help on the radio and started searching the area , to no avail. It was dead calm , no wind chop and no current . I got in touch with marine rescue and they sent the choppers and boats , now I always though that it would'nt take long for the choppers to arrive if I was in danger but it was around 40 mins till any help was on the scene. Meanwhile I had to board the vessel and calm the lady aswell as search the vessel for the husband, pretty heavy and something that i am not familiar with. As you might know , the body has not been retrieved yet so I am half expecting a call from the authorities so I don't want to say alot more except that if you are heading out for a day fishing or sailing or just cruising the harbour make sure that you are wearing the correct clothing and if you are not a good swimmer wear a pfd at all times. Take care !!!!!!!
  22. Hi there , I am thinking of going out jigging too , maybe we can go in 2 boats , cover more ground ? I am going wide of terrigal though and i think that you might be heading east of the heads ( is the correct ? ). Anyway PM me and we can chat further . Hopefully they are there and the jackets have moved on !!!!!! Cheers
  23. Mate that sounds tops !! Cant wait for my turn. Excellent day out !!!!!!!!!!!!!
