  2. Hi , My question is ; what is the best way to kill a squid before preparing to eat it ? , I know that a salt water ice slurry will do the job , is there a better way ? I am going to target these tomorrow so I want to know the best way to impress the missus and mates . Cheers Brad

    Texas

Hi all , We went to texas reef on sat , big bloody seal out there stealing lots of fish from everyone too ! The thing was slapping against the boat trying to steal a bonnie from us. I got my PB king though , it measures 110cm and estimated at 11kg . Was a battle to raise it fast so that the seal would not pluck it . There are plenty out there too !
  8. Going to Texas tomorrow and wondering if anyone has heard of big kings out there lately ? Also is anyone going tomorrow ? We can hook up on the radio and chat. Cheers Brad

  11. Great work boys , What size boats are you going in ?
  12. Hi All , I am going to head past the Fad at broken Bay and search the grounds . Has anyone had much experience there ? If so what can I expect and what should I take ? Currently trolling a mix of skirts and hard bodies . Hoping for bigger dollies than the Fads and also any other pelagics . Cheers Brad.
  13. Thanks guys , I am pretty keen to go and try for a yellowfin , Ive got a 17ft Seafarer Viking with a 130 E-tec and already head around 36kms to texas reef and fads so its not alot further . As long as I am on the radio and the weather forecasts are coming through good I should be OK . There are usually a few boats out there too so if there is an emergency , help will not be too far away . Is anyone else heading out there over easter ? Cheers Brad
  14. Hi All Raiders , Been fishing around Terrigal and Sydney north Fads alot and not really going too well . Lots of stripies and small dollies so have teamed up with a mate and plan to head wider over easter in two boats . Want to go out to the shelf and troll around for bigger dollies , tuna and maybe marlin . My question is how many kms or nautical miles is it to the shelf ? I have been there before but in a mates boat . I know that there is alot of flat ground between the fads and the shelf but have not taken notice of the distance . Looks like good weather so far for next weekend so could be time to go for a look . Anyone else heading out that way , sounds as though there have been few fish out there too . Cheers
  15. Went for a fish today , go to local bait spot off collaroy to get a few livies . That was the plan anyway , could not bring a yakka to the boat ! Every time we caught a yakka a rat would smash it before we could bring it to the boat . Even catching them on a livie hook , great fun on super light gear . I would of never thought that catching undersized kings would get frustrating ! We ended up putting the smallest bit of bait on the hook and still within seconds the rod would buckle over and sure enough another rat . All were between 60 to 63 cm so hopefully soon they will be fat and still so hungry .

    Springers

Hi All, Help needed , where can I get some springers from , I am looking for some to target Jews and also Kings. Thanks
  24. Hey Finin , I am trying to find the fish that I am targeting ( Tuna , dollies and maybe a stickface ) . That is the hardest part , locating the fish. Sure i know that a single bird can put you onto a fish, and is has, be it lots of stripies which are good fun on light tackle but I cant find the bigger predators. Thats why I have gone for the witchdoctor, maybe a waste of money and time BUT if it gets me that fish which I am searching for then its money well spent IMHO. I am seeing reports of good fish being caught and its doing my head in, all I am getting is stripies. I am pulling good quality skirts and also slow trolling livies. Thats fishing I know. If you would like to give me any help or tell me how you have been going i would appreciate it. I will be out there again soon. Cheers Brad
  25. Mate I have hit the fads every weekend for a while now , heaps of stripies but no dollies . They are around but finding them is the hardest thing.
