  1. Dont give me the credit Roberta, the map was made by a local down there Ive been fishing that area for about 15 years and that map will get you onto a fish no worries at all. The river runs quite fast so you just need to pick the right areas.
  2. Wondering the same thing! Apparently Lowrance has a boat setup with this all running to demo on their HDS sounders. There is a little demo on the navionics website The current Lowrance catalogue also has some screen shots in the back of it.
  3. I was out there on Friday and it was the same, there were acres of salmon busting up all over the place. We had them all to ourselves for about 2.5 hours then some clowns came and drove through the middle of them several times and they went off the bite. We weighed a few of them and they were 2.8-3.6kg

    New Boat?

Do you have the previous rego paper? If you have a number plate for it someone must have entered some sort of chassis number for it otherwise it would never have been regoed. Either way if its been out of rego for an extended period of time you need a blue slip. Call the RTA technical help line and they can give you the information you need. A good AUVIS [blue slip] place will organise the new chassis number, stamp it for you and give you all the relevant paper work. http://rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/getnewr...dcancelled.html
  5. Cool thanks for the replies fellas, ill grab a couple and see how i go
  6. I've seen on many DVD's and in the magazines people using surf poppers on a paternoster rig off the beach catching salmon, tailor and even snapper. They seem to work quite well but at the same time ive got a tackle bag full of stuff that has never caught a fish Have any of you guys had any sort of success with these things and do you think they are a worthwhile addition to the tackle box?
  7. Just after some opinions on how well the sports style boats handle the open waters. eg. SeaRay Sundancer, Bayliner Cierra etc etc around the 26+ ft size. Anyone who owns something similar and uses it for fishing also? How do they go outside the heads?
  8. Still alot of fresh water in the river but no shortage of people fishing it. We saw a couple of big cobia get landed also with one fella claiming 20kg for his one, the others were around 12kg. Much better up there in the cooler months without the sand flies and mosquitos.
  9. Some mates and i spent another weekend up at SWR hoping to chase some early winter kings, snapper and whatever else we could catch. Most of the time we dont care what we catch as most of us dont eat fish and they get returned to the ocean to fight another day. The plan was same as the last time, stock up on a heap of livies and drift as many bits of reef we could and see how we go. We also had some fresh strip baits and lures/plastics. Saturday came and we got a good variety of fish, Pearl Perch, Trag, Snapper, Nannygai, Bream, Morwong and a few randoms. The kings just couldnt be tempted but we could see they were there on the sounder. We then spotted something a bit larger Only got a handful of pics as i was too busy trying to catch stuff myself. Pearly Pinkie Trag, that a few of the boys ate said it was very good Sunday came around and we were off again with the same plan, this time hoping to tempt the kings and that we did. First yakka on the bottom gets absolutely nailed and my mate gets into it trying to turn its head but within 30 seconds the 60lb jinkai was rubbed straight thru the reef and ping haha. Next it was my turn, i could see the yakka getting nervous as my rod tip bounced around then the rod started to load up and i set the 8/0 circle thinking yeh i got this. I went hard at it with short pump and winds trying to turn it round but the 50lb fins was peeling off at 10 times the rate i was getting it in and then ping i got done over the reef too. We did this over a couple of times and just couldnt stop them, then it went quiet so we moved to another spot. This time there were more kings but they were rats and we were able to get them in no worries. A few more pearlies, morwong, some more snapper etc etc and freakin leather jackets!!!! At 100m we couldnt get a bait or line to the bottom without the jackets taking em out so we did our best to reduce their population also. Only got a couple of photos again but its still a couple more than the zero i took last time. On the way out The biggest King i got One of the others
  10. I have a Pflueger Infusion in that size, it was just over $100 after some haggling, its an excellent reel and so smooth.
  11. The inlet is one of my favourite spots down there, i have caught some of my best fish in there. Being open to the ocean it gets a good flush and tidal flow. I have snorkelled all along the edge of it to see where the fish hang out and have seen some very big flatties in there and even the odd shark, plenty of trevally in there too. 2" pumpkin seed grubs and 3" bass minnows in watermelon or pearl blue have been good The bream get up in the mangroves on the high tide and sometimes they dont spook and you can get into them. enjoy
  12. They are pretty much $159 everywhere i looked, if a site sponsor has one im sure they can do you a better deal
  13. Yeh thats the one i have with 50lb Fins on an Okuma V-system, no dramas
  14. I have the 6'6" 10-15kg, im yet to actually put it thru its paces as everything ive caught so far it has just winched in with ease including decent size kings and dollies up at SWR. Cant go wrong for the money if you ask me The rod model number will have an S in it for spin or O for overhead although several tackle stores seem to think using the crystal blue spins either way isnt a problem. Look on the website for the appropriate model http://www.freetime.com.au/home/silstar/pr...e%20Power%20Tip
  15. Thats a solid kingy Guy Cheers, Nathan
  16. Hi Roberta, I just came back from SWR yesterday and the river is a raging chocolate milk torrent, even out at the FAD the water was a bit discoloured. Not many people fishing the wall or landbased at all. My mates old man is still up there and he will have been fishing the river every day, keep an eye out for a white holden statesman and hassle him for the low down Cheers, Nathan
  17. Ive had a pair of almost every single brand out there. About 18 months ago i thought id go get a pair of Spotters as i hadnt had them before and now i dont think i would bother getting any of the other ones ever again they are hands down the best glasses i have had.
  18. Awesome! Ill be up there 20-22nd hopefully its as good for me
  19. Ended up getting an Okuma V-System V80a, now all i have to do is catch some fish
  20. My mate just got 2 pairs of OSIRIS prescription sunnies on the deal thats been advertised on tv lately, think it was second pair free or something like that. He got one yellow lense pair for low light and one polarised pair for the opposite.
  21. Ive been looking at the Penn Slammers also but every tackle shop ive been to has told me the spools are no good with braid.
  22. Sweet that sounds like the go
  23. They look pretty similar to the spinfishers dont they, what size would you recommend? The 560 or the 760?
  24. Thanks mate, the 6500 baitrunner seems to be the one i keep hearing about
