  1. Well done Chris, my mate and i were just talking about fishing down there on friday, we used to fish all along the river every arvo after school back in the day. Looks like things havent changed and it still fishes well Cheers, Nathan
  2. Seems to be happening in the area for a period of time every year til they move on to the next place, cops generally know who they are too but nothing gets done about it. Send me a PM if ya need a hand Byron im in the area, have tow car etc etc. Cheers, Nathan
  3. Its a top spot to fish there when its nice and quiet, shame it gets so busy during holiday periods. Any activity at night? I heard some reports of people catching 3-4kg tailor at the steps of a night time.
  4. Went there this afternoon got some trevally on plastics
  5. I was on a charter 2 weeks ago that was using Alveys and Penn rods exclusively, im not sure the exact model number of the rod but it was a Penn International series.
  6. Haha as long as i dont go that far and catch a flathead
  7. Travelling around the place a bit first then ill be based in Perth city, so anywhere from the city within an hour or 2 will be good. Have 5 days spare there so at least 1 full days fishing will be good Im only taking my travel rod 3 piece ugly stik and some plastics with me to throw around at some jetty's and wharfs etc, anything for the big stuff will have to be charter supplied gear.
  8. Thanks Ben that sounds promising As long as the seas are flat enough that i dont throw my hole up that will be a bonus
  9. Hi Fellas, Going to WA next week for a holiday and some fishing, what would be my best bet on the fishing front? Ive looked at a few beach charters which are supposed to be good with big salmon, tailor and mulloway being the target fish. Do the samsons, GT's and stuff like that shut down at this time or they year round? Any suggestions on the best species to target would be great Cheers, Nathan
  10. Thanks for the replies fellas, they do seem to have all the bang for your buck but yeh havent found anyone with 1st hand experience apart from a salesmen
  11. After opinions on the build and quality of Whittley boats. Looked at the ones that were at the boat show and the Clearwater Walkaround seems to have everything we are after, it was a white + black boat in hall 3 i think. Anyone got one of these or can give further info on them? or maybe other boats in the 6m+ range that have similar features. Cheers, Nathan
  12. Hey Bob, Yeh i try to only fish the top of the tide and run out as it has worked best for me in the past. Up the creek ive only had limited success but i havent really spent that much time up there, just caught the odd trev and flattie. Cheers, Nathan
  13. Depends on which direction the wind is coming from ill fish either side of the river and just move along the bank/wall casting a million times every few meters. Today i just fished the tower side. Its definitely been much quieter than it was 18+ months ago
  14. Had nothing on this arvo so decided to go flick some plastics round the cooks river. Fished the last of the run in and start of the turn until the rain started coming. Chucked around a few squidgy fish, wrigglers and some of the new pro range ones for a big fat donut, not even a tap Thats a big fat 0 from 7 visits to the cooks over the last 8-10 months.
  15. Are the ticket prices backwards or what? $18 at the door or $21 online WTF? Should be $15 online and $18 at the door, you'd have to be retarded to pay more online...

    Speed Kills

Speed didnt kill it was the sudden stop at the end
  17. I always use 2" pumpkin seed grubs in that spot with a 1/8th size jig head. It is pretty deep around the middle and with the tidal flow even a 1/8th will struggle to get bottom. The biggest whiting ive ever caught was at that spot but closer down to the walk bridge
  18. Depends on how many of the ladies pictured come with it i guess?
  19. Yep i have the edge restorer also and it works very good. It comes with a small tool to adjust the angles which is easily done by loosening some small grub screws and aligning to the angle required using the tool. Most of the time only use the diamond fingers, just use the edge restorer when its really required.
  20. I used to give my knives to my Pop as he was a butcher and has all the gear and the technique to do the job much better than i ever could, then i got given a set of diamond fingers and now i get the whole families knives to sharpen Heres the website http://www.furitechnics.com.au/products_aus.html
  21. Thanks Jewgaffer that gives a fair insight to the goings on. The sharks we are catching are mostly small school sharks and bronzies off the beach in a deep hole. The bully mullet is interesting also as the same spot holds a lot of bigs ones at certain times of the year. Thanks for the info
  22. I'll be hitting the south coast and fishing every day rain hail or shine i dont care ive just gotta get some new gear in the water to try it out
  23. Ive been told and recently read on here that once the sharks leave the jews come on, is this a common thing? At one of our favourite spots on the south coast we regularly catch sharks one after the other to the point where we get sick of catching them and call it quits. Are we cutting off our own feet here and is there a good chance that we would catch a jewie? We are catching the sharks on slabs of tailor most of the time so i guess we have a bait in the water that is likely to get taken.
