  1. Funny that the topic is Windang yet people are steering you to Port Kembla
  2. The Entrance is just an hour or so away, good beach/lake side relaxation for the oldies to explore as you wet the line *wink*
  3. The Boat ramp is located over near Jetty 4 (Southern Breakwall) Rat Hole is located over near Jetty 6, head towards the Jetty and follow the road to the left, you'll drive straight towards a parking spot that holds about 4-6 cars, depending on how people park. If you have a ute, reverse park, drop the tray and fish from it . As for the Windang Breakwall, if you ain't there early enough to get a spot (very minimal fishing spots) then there is really no point going
  4. Damn you know of the "Rat Hole" It's what the local Asians Christened it after many a Jews got snatched away by the Mutant sized rats there heheh
  5. Been hearing the rumors of Jewies in the Lake, do you know if these are just speculations or have some sort of merit? Might have to plan an all nighter and chase this Jew down
  6. Sounds like you had a good time Was it low tide when you went out? I don't usually fish the mornings at Windang, prefer the afternoon/evening fishing there.
  7. Current activity in Windang are : 30cm Tailors on the run out tide on HB's at dusk. Various sized Whiting on beach worm on the rising tide. Various sized Flathead on un-peeled prawns (lake prawns) Various sized Blue Swimmer Crabs on the run out tide at night. 35cm+ Tailor on pilchards on the run out tide at the breakwalls at the mouth. Occasional Breams and Tarwines. Regards Trung
  8. Looks like we talking about the opposite breakwalls The one at the Coal Terminal is what the locals call the Northern Breakwall (Corrimal Side) and the boat ramp for that one was further into the now no go zone. Used to be able to catch monster sized fish in there due to the warm water caused by the steel works. Don't think you are allowed in there anymore due to the Port becoming the new Car Wharf. However you can still access the Harbour via the Southern Break Wall. To get there you head towards Port Kembla Train Station (Old Port Road). At the Roundabout head towards the Jetty (Foreshore Road) and continue straight down that road, past the Water Rats Office and hey presto you come upon the Boat Ramp. From there you can launch and head on over to the Coal Terminals/Steelworks but i am not too sure if they like us fishos going in there But the Harbour is a sweet spot to Fish, Jews, Tailors Bonnies and Kingy Rats when they are on the Prowl. Edit : Been checking the wind and weather and looks like Saturday is looking to be a nice fishing day....hopefully the anchor lets me off and i can go wet the line Trung
  9. Land = Launch? I need to get me a boat so i can start learning Boat Jargon Pred, if you've been to the tip of the southern breakwall then you know where you get on and off the wall. There's a boat ramp right there with ample parking.
  10. Jetty 4 boat ramp. Ohh wait you meant anchoring? You are not allowed to anchor but you can drift to catch your Yakkas
  11. The Rats are already hanging around Port Kembla, have caught a few off Hill 60 and the south break wall. Don't have a boat so unable to chase the bigger ones As for Yakkas, you can pretty much catch them all along the break wall or over by the jetties, have never had any problems getting yakkas.
  12. Been getting alot of the 30cm Tailors down in Windang on the run out tide. Usually pull in 30+ using small metal spinners de-barb for easy release. Have also heard a rumor that there are Jewies lurking in the Lake so my next goal is to land me one of these rumored Jewies...nothing like catching a fish that is only a rumor
  13. I'd love to tag along also
  14. That last guy looks familiar, does he live over Rhodes way?
  15. Hello fellow Raiders, I just recently decided to take a look at my belated christmas presents and found a packet of these Banjo Minnows. Being curious as to the effectiveness of these SP's i did some research online and they claim that it works. However i am still sceptical. Has anyone had any dealings with these?
  16. Jewies off the rocks at Port Kembla. Jetty 4 Break wall : Get a few live Yakka's or fresh squid, head to the point. I've only ever caught them there after sun down, only problem is landing them, but since i like rock climbing i can usually get down closer the water than most peeps who fish there. Jetty 6 Rat Hole : When you turn into Jetty 6 bear left. Park the car at what i believe is a power box. Live yakkas can be caught and thrown straight onto the hook here. Usually catch my Jews close to Sunset and just a bit after. A shame Jetty 6 is closed, used to catch monster Jews off there. Regs Trung
  17. $10 I be tight with my cash
  18. The only one i've been to in sydney was a the 4x4/camping/fishing expo held over at Eastern Creek. Had a live tank with Bass in it and they demo'd a few lures....but was not worth the cover charge.
  19. Looks like fook caught a few http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=54159
  20. Wouldn't mind trying for a Bass...so count me in if you get a gathering.
  21. Has anyone eaten it? Would be interesting to try
  22. I think the first fish is a Sun Fish...Buggers are hard to catch
  23. Bonitos strips are beaut baits As for the Bonnies and Squid....my best lure for bonies is a plastic squid on a 1.5 meter trace at the end of an upside down float...so yeah they will prob smash your squid also 14lb Braid heh i've hooked a monster King of the rocks on 12lb Bonito gear and the beast thought it was funny to wrap my line around 10 other blokes, tangle it up with a double knot finish before shaking his head and swimming away smiling. But it was hell fun Regs Trung
  24. Ahh Mate, if you cook like that then hot damn i'll be sending you fish to cook up for me Yeah it looks like a Bream, yellow fins it looks like....bloody screen. Grats on a whopper of a Fish.....did you measure and weigh it before you gutted it for your brag book?
  25. That's some mighty big reels you have there. I assume you are rock fishing since you mentioned getting snags. Need to know the length of your rod.....on the blank near the grips should be some information regarding this. It should tell you the length and the line capacity. The reel you are using, over-head or egg beater and number aka 4500, 6000, etc As for your target fish. Salmons and Kings are mostly top feeders so you should be rigging up with a float to keep your bait close to the surface, which will also prevent your snags. Snappers will occasionally come up to get a feed but bottom bashing is better for those, rig your sinker below your hook so you don't snag as much. I usually catch my snappers from the rocks on Yakka flies Jews......heh the holy grail, these bad boys are caught with patience and more patience...unless you are a lucky SOB. My advice, get a hook tying book that shows you the basic rigs and you work from there. The best way to succeed at fishing is to know your rig, know your fish, and practice Trung
