  1. Kids who think they are smarts? I get the odd dauchebags throwing eggs at me while I'm sitting on a pier relaxing with a rod in hand. Pretty brave of them to lob eggs from the road bridge down on me. Them jet ski boys really don't know that a good flick of the rod loaded with a lure could do them a lot of damage. Silly kids. 2. Cooked then freezed. I've found cooking a Blue Swimmer after it has been frozen to be pungent, might have something to do with the post regarding fresh water on seafood where the bacteria in fresh water creates havoc to the smell and freshness.
  3. Have you got the bars that run over the tailgate? Think they are called Ladder bars or some such. Or is it just the standard Tray? If it's the standard tray i would suggest a Ratchet Strap tie down, laid loose under the Yak when you load it up, then crank the ratchet to lift the rear of the Yak up, close the tailgate and loosen the strap. Or a rope tied to one end, laid flat across the breadth of the tail end of the tray with a open loop for you to wrap around your foot and step down on to lift the Yak. If you had a bar, it would be just a simple matter of a looped end rope over the end of the Yak, then wrap the other end around your raised foot, use your body weight to pull the end of the yak up
  4. Windang is : Estuary/Lake/Breakwall/Rocks/Bridge/Mini-breakwall/Pier/Wharf/Wading/Island fishing. Target Species : Tailor/Whiting/Bream/Tarwhine/Flathead/Jewfish/Garfish/Blackfish/Prawns and Blueswimmer Crabs. A bunch of others which i won't mention as they don't rate as a table fish e.g. Mullets...big big Mullets. As for which part of the Lake is the most successful.....I'll leave that to your exploration
  5. Not everytime, but regularly. Not sure how your reel receives the lube but mine has an insertion point where i can squeeze a few drops in every so often. My oldman used to take the spool off the older models and there was an insertion point somewhere in there.....he never did trust me with his reels so am not too sure how it was done.
  6. If you are heading South down there then i'd advise steering clear of Wollongong Harbour itself. The place does not have many spots to fish and there are not that many fish to catch. The basin needs a re-work to get the fish back in but atm the place is mainly for Families and Surfers. Port Kembla is a good spot to fish, various types of fish and numerous fishing locales. You have Hill 60 with a good rock fishing platform, Fisherman's Beach for beach fishing and the Harbour for Breakwall/Jetty fishing. Or you can head 10 mins further south to Windang for estuary/lake fishing. Lake Illawarra has numerous places to fish from but the main action is usually around Windang. I think Cheekifisher is heading to the Caravan park side of Windang this Saturday and was looking for peeps to fish with.
  7. Does the Comet that is flying by have anything to do with the huge tide? Been wondering if it would affect the magnetic pull.
  8. Surprising enough i did a bit of research and it looks like i can pick up a 12v winch that can sit on a towball with a remote for $50. Has 9 meters of aircraft wire and can pull 2 tonnes and it has an internal battery in case the care has a flat and has a manual winch also. 1 of them babies with a make shift landing strip made out of those foam swimming noodles and you have yourself a Kayak Car Loader. I'd probably make it so the winch can be locked to the ground via your foot, so you can lift the tail end of the yak to help it go up on the roof, or using an earth stake. Can't wait to get my own Yak to try it out....it'll save me from slipping a disc in my already bad back
  9. WoW. This gives me ideas....cheap spy cam tethered to some Helium Balloons rigged to Livie. Give it just enough helium to keep the livie from going down and hopefully catch a strike followed by the fight. Might have to get one of the phone waterproof snap bags in case the camera goes for a dive Then create a TV series to Air on TV titled Fish Spy? Hmmm then again...too much work
  10. Rav 4 Sports model, 20 inch low profile tyres everyday driving wheels, 16 inch stock standard tyres for touring, 15 inch over sized tyres for fishing/camping trips. Made a mistake one time and took the 20 inches onto sand. Ended up with 4 flats due to sand ingress between the tyre wall and the rims which caused a slow air leak. No fun constantly stopping to check tyre pressure and inflating with a foot pump
  11. I have had first hand experience with this. GPS was showing i was doing the speed limit but due to my after market rims and tyre choice it seemed i was speeding. The screen capture of the GPS did not sway the South Australian Policeman one bit . I won't bother with calibrating as i constantly change from 20 inch performance to 16 inch off roading. My philosophy when it comes to driving is "When in your car you are like a school of baitfish, the chance of being bitten is slim"
  12. You can also check out this post. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=58795 It has info on certain known areas so you can pick and choose the location based on target fish, locality, or how safe/accessible it is. Regards Trung
  13. I was thinking about replying to Cheeki but then saw the Admin stamp and had to stop. It was going to be something along the lines of how some fish can pose as boys for a while and then miraculously becomes the mother of a hundred or so spawns But for fear of the repercussion of something that is meant to be i'll leave it at that
  14. I still don't think Cheeki is female, years of internet usage has made me wary of the proclaimed sex of a person until proven otherwise. Yes she has photo's posted and her post has a female touch to it. But until i actually meet her for a session she'll just be another man on the internet
  15. There's Squid at Belmore? I'll be catching my squid at the Japanese Festival in Darling Harbour but would have loved to have tried to catch a squid in Belmore....still scratching my head as to where you can catch squid there though
  16. Suprised no one has invented a ratchet winch system to load a Kayak onto the roof racks. Couple of foam noodles at the back of the car to act as guides/cushions to prevent scratches. A cable that looops around a wheel/guide on the front bar leading to the rear where you can hook it up to a winch and winch away. Or have a pulley system with a ratchet wheel locked to the front bar, rope leading to the Yak, pull or use your body weight to heave the Yak onto the bars. Shame i don't have a Yak yet to play around with some designs, the has yet to agree
  17. You got less than 4 people offering to join ya? Check your deodorant
  18. Yeah HD usually means it's an Ipad App.
  19. Just a curious question, are the rims/tyres on your vehicle the stock size? As for GPS units, Great units, even better if you have the portable (long life battery with walking options) that can capture the longitude and latitude of the exact spot you are standing/kayaking/boating where you hit the motherload. Always brings a smile to my face when i scroll through my favourites and can tap a picture of a fish and the unit will start giving me directions to that sweet spot again.
  20. I saw the heading and thought ohh damn the secret spot has been found. Then i saw the picture and breathed a sigh of relief. Great Bream there, i hope there were more hits, at this time of the year there are plenty of those big fellas around that area
  21. I'll see your net damage and raise you a red spot disease.
  22. Injury looks too round to be a net escape. Looks like a predator missed it's target by an inch, Tailors usually take the tail end out first so i'm guessing that bream had a run in with a Jewie.
  23. Name a Place and Time (hopefully not Christmas ) and i'll see if i can make it.
  24. Should just organise a fishing day and see who shows up, then from there you can make buddies with them and become a regular team of fishing fanatics
  25. Guess i'll hit it next week also.....need something to fill in the time between dinner and sleep
