  1. That's damn cheap for a 18000 model
  2. Wave Walker Pedal Kayak www.hydrocycles.com
  3. Cut into steaks, sear both sides with a skillet, throw in diced vine rippeded tomatoes (enough to make a sauce) quick bash on the tomatoes to bleed them, dash of Olive Oil and Salt and Pepper, into the oven at 160 degrees and bake for 20-30 minutes with occasional basting (spooning mixture over fish). Serve with a side of rice.
  4. He didn't say they were released alive
  5. Agreed, I sometimes have a dead yakka on a spike (kinda hard to keep them alive once they are spiked ) out under a float while flicking out the egis'. If the squid ain't taking the lures they usually hit the yakka. The spiked Yakka is a beaut alternative to the lures in shallow weedy areas, Yakka $0, spike $0.02c (chopstick), ring spikes/star spikes $0.30. Got Snagged? No probs $0.32 compared to a $15-$20 lure nuff said. If ya got access to Gar fish even better, them be more streamlined and ain't so heavy.
  6. Got offered a price of 480 for the black edition over the counter at surf dive and ski. So it should be around that mark. Getting it direct from the GoPro site is 399 US plus 80 Delivery. I'd rather buy it over the counter in aust and pay 30 bucks extra.....if i fork out cash, i want the goods in hand then and there
  7. Shove one of these down the Yakkas throat, stake to come out the tail end or where you can get it out. Rig it up and send the bugger down. If it be a squid or cuttlefish it'll attack the head of ya yakka and get it's tentacles caught in the star spikes. Make sure you leave enough of a gap between spikes and head to impale the tentacles, i have seen many peeps forget to do that and the yakka looks like it is muzzled and ready for war I usually make the stakes myself (out of chopsticks or other wooden rods) and buy the star spikes because the metal ones are heavy and usually come in a length i don't want.
  8. Hi Raiders, It's prawning season and it has always been an annual thing with a close mate of mine to go out and catch us a few kilos of prawns. It's usually 4 of us (the other half joins in on the fun) and we usually get a minimum of 3 kilos between us. Last Friday i made a slight change to the tradition and invited a work mate to come along, big mistake. I should have remembered the last time i invited the workmate along to a Bonito season and the minute he rocked up the wind changed to a southerly and the rains came. Needless to say with the workmate along (he brought a few friends also) we got a total of 300 grams or less between 8 people (6 active netters). I should have realised the Jinx was at work the minute we got near the water, my regular mate took a look at the surface and said the tides not running (it should have been running as per the tidal charts). The batteries for the prawning lights gave out after 1 hour in the water and i was only able to hook up to 1 undersized 20cm whiting. We (the regulars) left defeated, the Jinx and his friends has fun though and that is really all that matters Anyone else out there have a fishing partner that brings so called bad luck when they tag along? Ohh and i know you are reading this you Jinx! This weekend looks to be a good one, depending on my mood i may take a drive down south again for a prawn, and get some waders, i don't wanna see them pasty white legs shivering in board shorts again

Yeah just your average 40cm plus Slimey Mackerels Like these And this is what Hill 60 looks like when Calm.
  10. Octopus Hooks are a type of hook, not a hook for a species You'll find some tackle stores referring to hooks as Bream hooks, Whiting hooks etc because the type of hook is usually the preferred hook for that type of fish. However when the package says Octopus Hooks it is a type of hook not the species it catches. Octopus hooks are an all rounder with various sizes and various manufacturers. It's confusing at first but once you get more into it you'll realise it all come down to your preferences. I've fallen onto the Circle Hook using group as i prefer to catch and release and i de-barb all my lures for easy extraction. Have fun finding out which hook is best for the type of fishing you are doing and how to read that whacky hook sizing labels.
  11. Well if you bought the Brag Mat to "Brag" about your catches then the fishing gods were always going to shut you down. Having a Brag Mat will put an end to your stories where you go "I caught a fish and it was Thiiiiiiisssssss big" The second time you tell the story it will go "I caught a fish and it was Thhhhhiiiiiiissssssssss big" A Brag Mat puts correct facts into a story. "I caught a fish and it was 37cm big" Doesn't sound as good a story as the originals So toss out that cursed Brag Mat (just start calling it a Mat) and the Gods of Fishing will forgive you for trying to take the Bragging out of Fishing
  12. Poor little soldier crabs, slaves away cleaning up the sand banks for us humans and then suffers a crushing blow followed by an impaling hook through the gullets and tossed, still breathing, to ravenous fish. I'd rather impale a worm or use poppers (3 inch performs decently)
  13. Did the digging yonks ago, before the regulations
  14. OMG you've got rock/beach gear and ya catching estuary fish Is the reel you using bigger than your fist? Next time you pull in a Mullet and it's bait size, rig it up as live bait and cast it back out, with the rod and suspected reel combo you have you won't have much problem pulling in whatever grabs onto the mullet
  15. I always get confused when people talk about these red worms. I classify the Bloodworms as the ones that are red and look like a centipede. The red wrigglers are the ones that look like garden worms but they have pinchers or something at their mouth which they use to bite you with Bloodworms I Pump Wrigglers I dig up. When i used to go up to the Entrance with my Dad and Uncles we went over to that bridge south of Padstow that crosses the Georges to dig up worms......has been yonks since i did it last, I should go check it out and see if the worms are still there.

Yeah a good ol pump with a Vegetable Strainer big enough to hold a loaded pump of sand. I hate losing blood worms to the current or them pesky opportunist fish

    Hill 60

Hill 60 is the area That northern point you see is squid heaven, but also snag heaven. Plenty of seaweed for the squid to hide among and ambush but it is fairly shallow, i usually use a 2.5 jig or lighter, or rig it to a float. Fish wise, too shallow for any big boys but i have gotten a few good sized Bream there. The southern facing rock formation is where you target the mackerels and bonitos and kingies etc Man i miss the Illawarra, can't wait to move back down, grew up there and i should not have moved up to Sydney

Picnic Island- usually while I am prawning...i usually have a rod in the rodholder in my prawning bucket with a circle hook loaded with a fresh prawn trailing out behind me. In the day time at the same place i'll be either up further along the island on the sand flats or lurking under the trees, depends what tickles my fancy on the day.

    Hill 60

Hill 60 is pretty filthy at present. The Christmas break saw an influx of people chasing the Mackerels and they left behind a god awful mess of discarded pilchards, unwanted bi-catches and general rubbish. It stinks something awful, needs a good rough swell to wash away the stench. Fish wise. The bigger fish have not really come to play, the odd bonito here and there but the main source of fishing fun are the mackerels in plague numbers just on sunset. Lost 2 squid jigs to mackerel hunters on Saturday who couldn't control the fish and tangled my lines to no end. Bro in law lost 3 but was able to land a 1.5 kilo squid while untangling his line....pulled the squid in by hand If you're willing to sit in the sun all day long with a pilchard under a float waiting for the odd Pelagic then Hill 60 is alright, but you will have to suffer a few small trevallies and dirty sweeps. I'll prob give another go this weekend but my main action will be Windang for them stonker whitings that have been harrassing the prawns.
  21. South side of the winding bridge, westside island. They are a by catch for the blue swimmers while i am prawning (on foot) but a welcomed one. I think the usual spots for the muddies are over near the driving range where it looks more like their habitat. Tonight's haul was a kilo of pawns a 3 swimmers. Think I am going to give it a miss for the next couple of days. Blooming cold out there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  22. I've been using yo-zuri hybrid, pretty good line and decent price online though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  23. Weather has been atrocious. Big swells and cold rains, been down in the gong for 3 days now and haven't had a chance to target the bonitos. Lake Illawarra prawns, blue swimmers and mud crabs.....yep you heard right, mud crabs in the lake have been the only things I have been able to catch. I really need to start taking the phone on trips to take photos.....but a phone means the wife can contact me to run errands.....better to leave it at home hehe Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  24. looking for a spare spool for my stradic FJ and found a few FH for sale. Would it fit? Thanks Trung Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
