  1. Hi gents, I really appreciate the feedback. im not real mechanical so can i confirm WOT (assuming that wide open throttle?) = 5800 Engine height = how do I measure this Prop = evinrude 13.25 x 17R Plugs = Champion (that's all I can tell you) I also have a SE sport 300 hydrofoil (not sure if that's the correct terminology) apparently assists the boat to get on the plain quicker? I appreciate any further advice.
  2. Hi guys, I have a Evinrude 70hp 2 stroke (1997) outboard pushing my 4.3m markham dominator. The fuel consumption appears to b excessive. The tank holds 45 Litres and I can only get about 25km out of a tank. Is this normal?
  3. The wind was not ideal. Location was Balmoral
  4. Headed into Middle Harbour this morning with my family and took the opportunity to throw the rod in the boot. Armed with 14lb line, 25lb leader, a standard running sinker (size of a 5c piece) to a swivel and a 2 hook gang i threw on a full pilchard and let her rip. It was about 12.30pm, 1 hour prior to the bottom of the tide and second cast in the rod loads up and to my surprise there was a decent weight on the end of the line. Initially i had no idea what it was as it felt heavier than any flatty I had caught in the past. I have attached a picture of the result (Sorry about the poor picture). The fish went 65cm and was released which is my new personal best.
  5. You boat is looking great battler. I just finished a similar project with my brother in law. You can check out the results here there are 5 videos covering different parts to the boat restoration. When you finish your boat send trailer boat magazine some pics as they run a DIY section every month. My boat was in the June edition.
  6. Hi Battler, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Fishing was very tough over the two days. The highlight for me was seeing another competitor pull a 7.8kg 95cm tailor out of 3.5m of water using a blade. The 1.7kg bream was impressive to say the least and there were some impressive 5 fish bags over the two days of approx 4 - 4.5kg. Knowledge and experience is deffinately required to figure in the final standings in such an event however you have to start somewhere. I would deffinately suggest giving it a crack!
  7. Hi Paul, I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll be in a Markham Dominator cat.
  8. Thanks for the tips guys, yes I will be using 4lb leader.
  9. Squidgy 100mm Wriggler (Bloodworm) 4. 1/8oz, 1/12, 1/16 jig head options I have never been to the area and was hoping to get any advice possible on location tips, technique etc. In regards to tide and wind the following is what is happening Low tide on Saturday is at 10.28am (wind 16 knots) Low tide on Sunday is at 11.24am (wind 18 knots) A map of the area can be located here http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/maps/sussexi_back.pdf Cheers
  10. Hi guys, I recently purchased a navionics gold card. The information is good but I'm am disappointed to find that places like St.Georges Basin and Lake Macquarie are not mapped. Can anyone let me know if they have found a solution to this?
  11. I am heading up this weekend. I have been fishing just off the marker at Flint and Steel and have been getting squire, squire, squire (on bait pilchards/prawns etc). I am going to take some different lures and soft plastics this week end and i will see how they go. I will report in next week to let you know how i went.
  12. Awesome Fish! Congrats! Being new to the addictive thrill of fishing i love seeing this as i have got myself a small tinnie and have just started to put the boat in on weekends at Patonga. I generally head straight across to Flint and Steel. (Following the crowd). I am getting a heap of squire using bait. I’m really looking to get my teeth into something bigger with more fight. a King fish / bonito etc would be awesome. I have grabbed a few Gulp soft plastics and a Berkeley MF50 vibe and am going to give them a go this weekend. Does anyone have any advice for me? Locations, lures etc.
  13. Hi Guys, I am heading up the coast on the weekend and am taking the tinnie out to fish near the marker (on the Patonga side of the west head) at Flint & Steel. I have been there a few times over the last 6 weeks and keep getting squire using bait (pilchards, squid, and prawns) and the odd tailor trawling. I am getting into lures at the moment (new to fishing) and wanted to know if anyone had any advice for me. What is on, where are they, what type of lures work best etc, etc.
  14. Back Again, Decided to head down this afternoon after work to do some exploring for myself. Took the tinny out and had a great time. The big guy and i caught 14 Bass (no huge ones but great fun). I am new to fishing and this forum and i am finding that a lot of people are quite protective of their methods and locations which is a little frustrating as i am sure there is enough fish out there for us all to enjoy, needless to say we put every fish back for someone else to catch tomorrow. I am happy to share my method and locations. 1. We put the boat in at the Penrith Boat ramp 2. We headed down the river and stopped in front of the log cabin 3. On the Western side of the river we flicked lures (the big guy used a spinner and I used a Sebile Crankster (see attached image) which i purchased on the advice from a helpful guy at Tackle world St.Marys 4. We continued this all the way back to the boat ramp stopping along the way at locations that looked good (faller trees, over hanging branches etc) It was an awesome arvo and i will be back for more.
  15. Gents, Did you manage to get a crew and day together? My mate and I are also keen to be shown the ropes. I have a small tinny with a 6hp engine. i am very keen to find some good spots. I would be putting the boat in at the boat ramp opposite the Coffee Club
