  1. I bought a Scotty 1073 the other week and installed it on my boat no luck yet but I will keep persisting When I am down rigging what should I be loking for on my sounder as I have no Idea I dont seem to see the kings just heaps of bait fish so I drop the bomb to just underneath them and troll through slowly is that the correct way to go? Coollamon
  2. Congrats Go out to Funda for his Catch Of The Month with a beautiful Murray Cod Funda receive's a Viva Coast 3500 fishing reel valued at $134.95, courtesy of Modern Fishing Magazine. Once again Congrats mate Cheers Coollamon
  3. Anchored up and started fishing at clifton gardens during the kingie social I started cleaning up the boat and I asked my mate to pull in the anchor when we had finished Not realising he hadnt heard me I assumed he had pulled the anchor in and motored off after about 5 minutes of awkward driving (boat pulling to the left and really struggling) I mention it to my mate and he says "did you pull the anchor in"? I pull the anchor in and she has a nice bend in it now like 45deg off center OMG how embarrasing Coollamon
  4. Yeh what an awesome light show I had front row seats anchored up in the middle of Port Hacking and it came through realy quick and dissapeard (so I thought) another storm cell came through about 45 minutes later and nailed us when I saw Lightning hitting Iron rock in the national Park about 1 1/2 ks away I said screw this boys we are Off very wet and cold and even worse No fish Cheers John
  5. I thought it looked like one of the older allycraft I had a 3.75 v nosed punt looked pretty much the same John
  6. Hey mate It all depends on what sort of fishing you intend to do My first boat was an allycraft 3.75 meter v nosed punt with a 15hp motor great for estuaries and creeks etc crap for going out a little further like to the heads sure you could pick your days but they are few and far between My current boat is a 4.55 sea jay good boat still a little to small for me but i can live with it in the 4.55 I can still get up into some fairly shallow areas but going further out is always a safer option for me now as compared to the previous boat so I guess it really comes down to what sort of fishing you intend to do My only advise I can give to you is be honest with yourself about what you intend to do or as what happend with me will happen with you I bought the smaller boat intending to take it outside and of course a lot of estuarie fishing and I convinced myself it would be great but in reality it wasnt the case and I ended up having to sell it so I could get the boat I really should have got 1st Just take your time and really look at all options before you commit Hope it helps Coollamon
  7. I also have a Sea Jay Mine is the 4.55 and she's a pretty sweet ride I have had her out in mildy rough conditions 1.5 - 2 meter swell and she handled it easly And they are quite beamy mine is 2.10 meters across with a reverse chine and I rarely get wet But hey this is only my opinion what one person may like another wont I have a couple of their brochures around the place if you want I will send em to ya let me know Cheers Coollamon
  8. Guy's I am Fairly new top the whole boating scene and I have a brand new Tohatsu 50 and when I open her up WOT I get (acording to the speedo on my sounder) 28-32 knots deepending on the payload I am carrying. I was wondering the engine sits at 5400 rpm at WOT is there a general agreement that I should be able to redline her or not I didnt think so before reading this post but now I am not so sure Any help from any of you guys would be awesome Cheers John
  9. Sorry I forgot to add that you have to do a little mountian goating to get to the rocky area's /Ledges from my experience the people dont mind as long as you keep to the very edge of their property (might have changed a little since I was there last (a couple of years) I have edited a Google map for your help Cheers Coollamon
  10. Hey Tom why dont you try Wattos http://www.wattosfishing.com.au/ Or Fishfinder http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishfinder I am sure one of the guys would be able to source what you need at a good price Cheers Coollamon
  11. Another good spot to try is great turiel bay The enterance is via Dean St there is a little park that you walk down with a huge set of stairs to walk down then you have the whole bay to explore I have supplied you a little map to show where abouts the little park is. if you wade out and fish of the sand bar it is a fairly deep drop off it reaches 80ft deep in the middle if I remember corectlly I have caught leather jacket round the rock walls on the right (looking seaward) and gurnard,Bream, small school sharks and a baby Hammerhead once as well as being smoked by something a couple of times I only fished with bait when I was last there but I imagine sp's would work quite well there also and as an added bonus there is rarely many people there hope it helps Coollamon
