  2. Hey raiders, I'm doing a trip down to brooklyn this weekend to hire a tinnie and have a bash at some flatties, bream and some possible Jews. The tinnie we are looking at hiring holds 4 people and so far it's just me n a mate going. If anyone else is interesting in joining us please feel free to pm and I'll get back to you with details. This trip was meant to be a BBQ boat trip with my little brother and his mates for his birthday but all the boats we are after have been booked out till the week after, so I thought I might as well head down for a fish and get to know the spot a little better before taking my brother out, plus it's relatively cheap !! So let us know guys n gals n we can get underway !! Tight lines, Jez
  3. Ok no worries thanks for all the helpful info guys !! My plan now is to take prawns, squid and some pillies. A few 4-5inch swim shads and possibly my jewy gear just incase!! Would it be worth taking some larger trolling lures ?? Will a Jew hit a trilled lure ?? Also with the crab traps, I've got 2 or 3 medium sizers so I'll take that with me, what is good bait to use for this ? I've never tried fishing for crabs before so would be pretty awesome to give it a go aswell!! Thanks again raiders !!
  4. So basically bait wise I'd best be going with hawkesbury prawns and hawkesbury squid ?? And with the plastic light and heavy jig heads matched with 4inch and 5inch swim shads in a few different colours ??
  5. Thanks stan !! Yeah I'll definitely give you a buzz for more in depth info !! P.s: keen to come out this weekend ??
  6. G'Day raiders, Ok situation, I'm taking my little brother out on a BBQ boat with a few of his mates for his birthday this weekend. We will be hiring from Brooklyn Marina so we will be restricted to staying within the limits of where we can take the boat. I was hoping some of you guys could help me out with fishing this area as I haven't done much fishing here at all. My little brother is keen as mustard for fishing but he has never bagged anything big, he's always catching whiting and little bream that he enjoys but nothing that will test his skill and make him happy to keep in the esky n take home for a feed. So if anyone can point me in the right direction on bait, location, style of fishing and what I'm looking at most likely catching. Any effective method would be great. Any help is appreciated. All PMs are welcome also. Thanks heaps in advanced raiders, Jez
  7. Saltist all the way. I use a 10ft 8-12kg Ugly Stik Platinum matched with a saltist 6500H. Its a little bit heavy, but if your live baiting off the stones and that it should do you jus fine. Very sturdy reel, holds around 15kg of drag maybe more with an upgrade of drag washers, very well built reel because its simple no fancy stuff. Ive never had a problem with my reel on any fish of any size. Can feel the bites off the smallest breams to the pull of the bigger jew/kings without a problem. Hope you make the right choice, happy shopping. Jez
  8. WHAT A GREAT SEASON OF RUGBY IT HAS BEEN !! WHAT AN ODD MATCH UP FOR THE GRAND FINALS GUYS. WHO ARE YOU GOING FOR?? THE MIGHT ALL BLACKS ARE MY PICK !!! SHOULD BE A GOOD FREAKING GAME I TELL YA. CHEERS, J
  9. Kirribilli !! Right underneathe the harbour bridge mate on the North Sydney side. But do try and get there a little early to get premo spots. Otherwise you will be battling for squid ground. cheers, j
  10. Hmm that actually sounds like a good idea !!! I will be trying that out on my next jew haunt, no jew? Meh can still come home with a bucketfull of yakkaz. Cheers man, jez
  11. Hey mate, I went out last night to Jefferey St Wharf and had a play some squid. In about an hour managed 4 squid, nothing massive but perfect bait size 1 of them was a little bigger but 4 was more then enough for bait. Only problem being there was no where to fish by the time we caught our squid. All my harbour landbased jew spots where crowded. So decided to call it a night and bring the squid home for an afternoon fish today at Georges river. Planning on heading out around 5-6pm cheers, jez
  12. Thanks for the replys fellaz!! Will keep you guys updated on my up n coming expeditions and the results of them !! Thanks again much appreciated, JeZ
  13. Hey Raiders, Ive been doing some night time squidding sessions lately, but I dont think ive been going to the right places. I know the places I go can produce during the day, yet at night there is no light at all and from my experience no active squid either. Just hoping if any raider can point me out a few good night time spots for squid. All PM's are welcome as I really wanna get into squid fishing to help out with me jew/king sessions. Ill be more then happy if anyone can lend me a few spots, dont even have to be secrets just some good squidding spots. Even if any raider wants to do a night session collecting some squid for bait or a feed be more then happy, saves me going on my own. Any help is much appreciated, Cheers Raiders, jez
  14. Hey man, Yeah sweet just keep us updated on the situation, keen as mustand to go offshore. Want to get into some real fish or atleast land some snapper for a feed lol. Just PM me what you want me to bring e.g: bait, food, drinks, money for fuel etc etc. Got all my own boat gear so not to worry in that department. Cheers Stan, jez
  15. I only have a TLD25 with Penn 30lb Mono 600m worth. :(
  16. You never carried your gear and livies and walked a few clicks to your fishing spots? Me and my mates do it all the time when we fish La Pa golf club. Instead we walk through bush which is a bit of a mission as some of our rods are 1 piece and the tree's like to get them selves tanlged in them, or the other way around. Dont see a problem with walking a bucket full of livies a few clicks. Cheers, j
  17. Lol Stan your a crack up bro !!! I think old mate was talking about your avatar pic, but yeah he's obviously trying to troll. Anyways when you wanna hook up for a fish bro? Keep us updated Cheers, jez
  18. Hey Greg, You got a nice kitchen there, I'm a stone mason so I admire nice stone tops. See you have brown marble shadowline tops with custom undermount sink and glass splash back !! Looks the goods mate!! Plus well done on the fish, but then gain when do you ever fail lol, read so many of your reports and you always seem to make a bad session into a good!! Dead set inspirational !! Well done mate. Cheers, Jez
  19. I literally made mine while I was buying all the materials in store. I just took my rods with me found the PVC that would suite (with the help of the store owner) got 2 end caps, one side with a screw top so I can access my rods. Asked the store person to cut everything to size for me and glue it together using PVC glue. Had it done in literally 20minutes. All together costed me $32, but its well worth the effort and added insurance to know that your rods will stay safe and sound while your travelling. The last thing you want when your on holiday is to get to your destination and find that the prized rods you brought with you to use on your holiday have been damaged/destroyed by clumsy baggage handlers. And its true, usually flight companies dont wanna take responsibility for things like this. If your close to the Liverpool region I can take you to the place I got it made. He's a cool fella and doesnt mind spending a bit of time to get you what you needed, also putting it together for me wasnt a hassle for him. He actually tried to make sure that nothing would break when I got to my destination. So far Ive used my homemade rod tube about 9-10 times and Ive never had a problem. Cheers, jez
  20. Im a Wallabies supporter through and through since i was little. But this is the worst wallabies world cup team I have ever watched play. I think the boks will take out this world cup for sure.
  21. Still good info Didnt get out yesterday arvo cause the weather turned at around 2-3pm so i decided to cancel the trip. Gives me more time now to figure out where to collect weed and hopefully get some more info. Also how would i go about collecting it and what should I be looking for, I have never done this sort of thing so I really dont know where to start. I know the rig with the pencil float and split shots just collecting of bait is the mission. Thanks mate, jez
  22. Hey raiders, Just after a bit of help, does anyone know where I could collect some weed/cabbage around the Georges river for Luderick ? Me and a mate are keen to head out this afternoon for a session but we are not to familiar with the areas to collect some green weed!! I've tried using live blood worms before but only managed 1 fish. So the area I'm fishing I know holds Luderick I just need some green weed to bag a few. I know people go out and have awesome sessions on these fish using weed so any help would be much appreciated raiders. P.s: I only intend on taking enough for 1 session to see if we are able to bag some fish. Also anyone who is keen for a fish this Arvo is most welcome to come along we will be fishing land based around the Georges River National park this afternoon. Cheers raiders, Jez
  23. When you need your work done mate? Im a stone mason by trade but I have a few mates who are tilers. If you can let me know the details of what you need done and also when, ill be able to ask around and get back to ya. Cheers, jez
