  1. Hey raiders ! As the title explains I'm gonna do a session tonight under the Tom uglys bridge and the captain cook bridge !! We will be mainly targeting Jew but would like to know what else I could catch here !! Bream flatties etc etc !! Also what would be a good starting off rig for Jew in this area !! We do have a fair knowledge on what we need to do BUT it doesn't hurt gaining some knowledge from the Fishos who regularly fish this area with success !! My last 3 attempts in these spots have left me with big fat zeros !! So any help to get a raider n his fellow raider mates on some fish would be great !! Cheers in advanced ladies n gents !! Jeremy
  2. Yeah mate too easy keep us updated n we can tee up a session !! Enjoy your trip to Melbourne !! Can get good snapper down there in port Philip bay to u lucky bastard !! Cya when ya get back mate !!
  3. Mate I'm keen on doing a breambo session this afternoon when I finish work !! I'll launch from flower power chipping norton n head from there !! Gonna go in search of some bream n maybe put some bigger sp"a out for a Jew !! Ur more then welcome to come along mate !! Ill be going on my own do a partner in crime wouldn't hurt !! But let me know though
  4. I didn't fish the bridge as such but I fished near the bridge going in towards the woronora river !! Near some oyster leases I think they where and over some sand banks that flowed into the channel !! Thats where the better bream whee caught on the outgoing tide
  5. Fished the Georges on the weekend armed with the freshest prawns I could find and some prawn berly !! Managed to hook 9 thumper bream and boated 6 due to my brothers poor netting skills !! Also a few decent whiting caught n released and suspecting one decent Jew that smoked me on 6lb bream/whiting gear !! So yeah I think the George's is coming back to life !! I fished from deep water down to Como !! Yes I did a fair bit of exploring and anchoring and drifting to find the fish but was worth it in the end !!
  6. My last 4 attempts in the George's have been major fails, not one keeper fish ! I even fished it yesterday afternoon with fresh prawns and freshly caught squid for zeros !! I've been fishing the upper regions around Deepwater!! Could it be I'm too far up the river n should head down towards lurgarno , Como or even further from there ? Anything to help me get onto some fish ! I might even get out there again tonight n see how I go !!
  7. I use to fish Greenwich wharf alot with lie yakkas !! Easy as !! Get there setup catch a live rig it up send it out then wait u loose that catch another livey n go again! They are that easy to catch down at greenwich ! I caught a few Jew there on livies from 5kg-9kg ! But only problem is it's usually packed !! As in 20 fishos at a time so I use to fish there really late at night on a weekday !! But doin that 3 times a week really wares u out considering I finished at 5:30 am n get to work by 7:30 !! Usually when it's jus you or only a couple of fishos u notice the fishing is alot better if no hook ups ull atleast get a run or 2 !! But when it's packed don't even bother !! Mission to get a good spot and ontop of that some people that fish there are real a$$holes !! So be careful fishing there mate, always go with a friend n tbh don't even bother when there is that many fishos out on the wharf !! U could almost try jefferey st for livies n go deploy them under the harbour bridge !! Anyways this post is getting a bit big !! Good luck n hope this info helps !! Cheers, Jeremy
  8. Toyota Hilux !! All that need be said ! Good price for an awesome unstoppable vehicle! There cheap on fuel, very good low end torque to pull the boat but still alotta hp to keep you moving on a freeway !! Also it's a Toyota !! There built like tanks n basically made never to break down !! I tow my tinny at the moment with an old 94 model hilux ute !! 1.8 or 2L 4 cylinder !! The newer hilux in ur price range are 2L+ V6 motors !!! So IMO hilux is the way to go !!
  9. The motor is a 94 Marine 20hp 2 stroke. So its not ancient but its not exactly new either. I think I might just look into a 25hp with bigger cc's as mentioned above. Sounds like the best plan plus wont get pinned for it either. Cheers for all the great info guys. Jeremy
  10. Yeah that's the thing, not sure on rules regulations n how it will affect the overall performance!! I'm sure some raiders would have gone through what I'm thinkin and know exactly how this would work !
  11. Hey raiders, I was just thinking about upgrading the power plant on my boat from the 20hp to a 30hp just to help it get out of the hole a little quicker n make my longer endurance runs on the George's a little faster. Only problem is my Stacer sea sprite 3.85 alloy is rated at 25hp max. At the moment the 20 is doing an ok job but for where I fish normally in the rivers and estuarys the water is really calm so flat knacker is the way I go except flat knacker with the 20 isnt all that fast especially if the boat is all geared up n I have a 2nd or 3rd person in the boat ! Also when I'm in the bay and I encounter some chop it gets really sluggish !! Once it gets up it moves but with chop u can't really hold it flat the floor so in turn makes the boat really slow through some decent chop until I get a calmer patch to let the boat get up to speed! Hence I want a 30hp just for that little big extra ooomph to get up and go! From how it handles now I don't see a problem in wacking 30 on the back, but I'm only new to boating so I dont wanna just go ahead n do it and then find out I've made things worse ! Handling, weight etc etc ! Any help on this would be much appreciated ! Cheers, Jeremy
  12. G'day raiders! So plan is to head out to woy woy and launch the. Oat in search of some fish for the table ! I've never fished here before but a mate that Iam going with has but has not fishes in a while n thinks he might rusty, or he just has no clue lol ! Any raiders have any tips or techniques or locations to help me get onto some fish. My last 4 fishing trips have been fails so I'm hoping to turn our Saturday session into a gooden !! We will be leaving cambletown at 4am so should be there by 5-5:30!! Cheers in advanced raiders, Jeremy
  13. Lol I try n get out as much as possible when weather n work permit I get out there 3-4 times a week but this rain n flooding has jus killed the fishing !! Makes u wanna just go have a few brews down at the pub !! Cheers, Jeremy
  14. Dead as !! Water looks like a chocolate thick shake with floating bits of fudge !! Even my usual bream spot which always produces proofed me wrong about always !! 1 eel = shit fish Not happy, Jeremy
  15. Yeah I've been trying to get out as much as possible to familiarize myself with the areas I fish n using different baits, techniques and rigs to find the fish !! Oh and plenty of burley
  16. Hey raiders, I've been itching all week to go for an Arvo fish but work has kept me back later then expected! But today oh yes today I will be hitting the water ! I'm plannin on launching from Flower Power in Chipping norton and jus driving up to try n find some where to fish ! Has anyone fished the Georges river recently with results ? If so do u mind mentioning where abouts or what techniques and rigs where used !! So excited to wet a line !! Cheers raiders, Jeremy
  17. Thanks for all the helpful replies raiders. I knew it, I had a feeling 25:1 was jus too much oil !! Well now i know the right ratio 50:1 it's starting to make things easy !! Also I'll try and stick to one brand oil as much as possible to save from mixing too many different compounds n runnin it through the motor ! Thanks again raiders, Happy Boating Jeremy
  18. Hey raiders, Basically just trying to figure out the best ratio of fuel to oil to run in my 94 mariner 20hp 2 stroke. I got told by the previous owner that it should run a 25:1 ratio (25L fuel to 1L of oil) except he wasn't to sure on this n was not able to find out exactly ! What's got me worried is that alot of smaller boats running mixed 2 strokes run on 50:1 and it's also readily available on the pump (e.g Como). But I don't hear much about 25:1 and it just seems like I'm running alot of oil through the motor ! I run 1 24L tank n basically when I do a full tank of fuel almost takes a whole 1L bottle of oil, at 25:1 that is. I know running more is better than running less but it just seems like alot, especially on a cold start, the motor smokes up alot, but once warm n underway its un-noticeable! But then after stopping for a fish n starting the motor up becomes smokey again n only once underway does it subside ! Also because it's an older motor is there a speacial type of oil I should run or just stick to the 2 stroke outboard stuff I see in the servos !! Any help would be great as oil is becoming expensive having to use so much at a time where as if I was running a 50:1 ratio my 1L oil bottle would last 2 full tanks which is alot more efficient ! Cheers raiders, Jeremy
  19. Im fishing out of a 3.9m Stacer Sea Sprite... just a really light alloy tinny thing with a 20 on da back. Usually just me and my brother go out and we take an esky with drinks n food and a small esky with bait. Plus rods and tackle. So there isnt too much weight in the boat, dunno if that makes a difference!
  20. Hey raiders, Basically just need to know how to go about drift fishing. I fish mostly my local georges river but i wanna learn how to be able to set up so i can drift in the boat and fish without worrying about crashing into structure or getting into the way of other boaters. Everytime i fish i anchor up or just beach the boat and fish because im not sure on when and where I should be drifting. Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers, Jeremy
  21. Yep will do ! Ill buzz ya sometime soon n we tee up a session bro !
  22. Hey raiders, Basically situation is as follows !! I have a boat which I recently purchased n need help with learning how to go out berley up anchor drift etc etc ! I have a license n know all the general rules I just need someone who knows how to go fishing in a boat properly n is able to produce !! So far in the last 6 outings I have got nothing to brag about !! Managed 1 30cm bream n alot of small pickers!! The boat has a finder, 2 swivel chairs , 2 rod holders !! Would be greatly appreciated if someone could come out for a fish with me n show me the ropes on how to properly fish out of a boat !! Cheers raiders, Jeremy
  23. Thanks mate, I'll give them a buzz a now !!! Cheers, Jeremy
  24. That's awesome mate, nice haul of fish on an arsenal of lures !! Where bouts in the George's if you don't mind me asking ? Just got me a new river boat so been exploring the George's for basically zeros !! Oh wait managed 1 34cm Breambo !!
  25. Morning Raiders, So basically last week I purchased a Stacer Seasprite 3.9m runabout with a 1994 20hp Mariner outboard. I took it out with my brother over the weekend without any problems. Motor started first go every time, FF worked properly and boat ran smooth. Even though it's been running great I still wanna get a complete service done from top to bottom and basically just checked overall to make it safe for future trips. Can anyone recommend a trusted marine service centre ? Someone that won't rip me off also, as I don't have much knowledge on the boat. I know if I go some where random ill get priced an arm n a leg because they know I have no clue about what is needed to keep the boat safe and reliable. So please if any raider out there can help will be much appreciated !! In return I don't mind taking you out for a fish, most probably end up teaching me more boating skills which is what I need. Thanks in advanced raiders !!!!!!! Cheers, Jeremy
