  1. Hey mate, firstly, congrats!! what awesome specimen! secondly can i just asked whether you weigh your livie down with a sinker or just let it free swim? i find when im live baiting off of a wharf the fish swim right back at me if unweighted, which causes many a recast, thanks dude. Gilbey
  2. nice going stormy, still bringing them in i see, im jealous, i spent 10 hours down mkenzies few days back for 3 blackfish and one drummer....long day to say the least. what area of rocks are you fishing these days? eastern suburbs?
  3. nice work mate great haul, im looking at trying to find some new ledges to fish, and was wandering if you could pm me the the spot you caught these or any one you know of, just fancy branching out as i only really fish one spot off mkenzies as its the only one i know of be semi reliable! thanks in advance Gilbey
  4. Im hungry...awesome catch, how were you fishing the squid heads? bottom bashing, down rigging?
  5. thanks dude, much appreciated. gilbey
  6. So armed with my new kayak i have been trying out the world of SP's. ive been fishing with a variety in and around the bays in the habour and im getting alot of takes, although my hook up rate is low. my minnows keep coming back minced up with half of it missing, is this normal? the teeth marks can be seen well up past the hook but never seem to catch em! landed a few snapper and a couple flounder but no flatties as yet which is what im after. im using 4 inch minnows with a 1/4oz jig head on a 2/0 hook. anything wrong with my set up, or anything i can do to improve the hook up success? cheers raiders, Gilbey
  7. Was there any headway made on the creation of a landbased report section in the forum?? would be awesome to see as it seems 90 % of the reports are from boats. Cheers Gilbey
  8. awesome mate congrats, they are a very addictive fish! what technique did you use to score this beauty?
  9. try around the iron cove bridge area. there's a wharf on the birkenhead point that fishes well. Also try clifton gardens, Kirribilli, Parsley bay or Balmoral wharf. good luck.
  10. fair play top fish mate. cant wait to land one of the beauts but im landbased which makes it sooo much harder! congrats again Gilbey
  11. haha yes i cant wait. she got a 2 man one so she can join me! both good... and bad haha. what islands are you thinking of roberta?
  12. hey man thanks, yeah it is inflatable, its a rib like material but it would still be a bit of downer, in more ways than one, if a hook were to sink into it. gotta come up with some ingenious ways of keeping things on the boat without popping it! and yes its really light and folds down to around the size of micro wave which means i can load it onto me bike and im away!
  13. one word mate....EPIC. Congrats. lets match it sydney! check out my holiday adventures!
  14. hey raiders!, so managed to get out a few times over the holidays and tried out my new kayak that the gf bought me (happy days) first trip took me up to foresters beach, where using whole and filleted pilies at sunrise and beyond i managed a few bream and a catshark of some sort (species ID would be welcome) my next adventures took me south to meroo, where i got to fish the beach during an amazing last sunrise for 2011, only to land one bream. top points for aesthetics though. and next to the beach was termeil lake where i got to try out my christmas present!! wohoooo! i kayaked around the lake for ages then decided to wet my first line from it. we found a nice spot where some tree stumps were submerged and using a free lined peeled prawn i landed this beauty, a 40cm bream that was golden from the lakes water, and a PB! was so happy. went on to catch a few more smaller bream, am so chuffed with the new kayak, cant wait to get it out on the harbour!! thanks for reading! GILBEY
  15. nice feed! were all the blackfish on bread?? or the cunji? gilbey
  16. hey mate nice report shame there wasnt anything decent! maybe next time!. awesome looking boat btw, been thinking of getting one myself. maybe we could join forces one time? would love an opportunity to get out on the water. too many months landbased! Cheers Gilbey
  17. dont set it up mate, given your track record, "full of jacks and baitfish" does not mean your going to catch em haha i want pics.
  18. awesome video boys. no need for the gym that night then haha. keep it up but save some for the rest of us .
  19. haha wave run off, now that would have been epic. just goes to show doesnt it,, that my fishing as of late has been so good that the best thing about it has been a few menacing clouds bring on the summer! keen to try out those poppers cobba! ps the storms pics were the very first pictures on my new camera. not a badfirst few clicks. lets hope the next few are of some landbased kings!
  20. thanks mate it was epic having it appear from the cliffs behind me
  21. So im normally quite eager to post my reports but as of late there hasnt been much to talk about so im combing my last 3 trips. firstly was a blackfish session in the harbour, there still biting and in good numbers, in a few hours i landed 6 and lost a few more. biggest being 41cm. My next adventure took me to bronte where we braved the swell to land 2 legal tailor and two legal trevs biggest being 43cm. all on pilchards and a running star sinker. and my next trip too me to bondi where the swell was huge and the epic storm came through . no fish but an awesome site.
  22. im keen to see one. great idea
  23. yeah it can be dodgy, i tend to stand to the right (towards tama) and cast left to face the incoming swell but you still get caught out every now an then. if there is a few you its better, more eyes on the swell last week was seriously calm though so was perfect to teach Angus. we just had to put up with the rain
  24. Haha i admit i was a little frantic with the instructions but the boy learns quickly which is lucky as he would have been sent to his room after a good old spanking if not
