Me personally I'm only really worrries if its a megladon, as above the sharks are always close, you just don't see them majority of the time

Good job with the squid mate. If your trying for kings they'll usually fire up as the sun comes up from about 7-10am Is the best time I find productive

Hand them into the local police mate, hopefully the owner makes a report and they can get them back to them. I think there is a grace period on goods you find that are unclaimed and if they haven't been collected after some time they are legally yours ? Check with the police but that's the best thing to do champ. Great work for being honest, the number of times I've left things behind after surfing only to go back a few mins later and they are gone is frustrating

We've got the same pump and its making a bit d noise after 12 months but still going strong, can't remember the last time we washed it with fresh water !

There's an inlet down at the south end of the main beach can't remember the name but its just past the caravan park, flicked 80mm blood worm wriggles standing on the rocks in the arvo on the outgoing tide for a nice 45cm flattty, watched it come right out of the depths to chase the lure up and watched it take the lure ! Anyway go into the tackle word shop for some advice they will give u plenty!

What colours did you get man ? I've got some 9" ones in white, haven't had any luck with them so far, might need to get some 6" ones as well and maybe some other colours. I've had lots of success on the kings with slick rigs in drop bear colour. Been trying a few different techniques. Depending on current, If strong I've been putting a small sinker on as well to get more depth, long sink and fast retrieve, jigging and fast retrieve on the surface, all seem to look really baitfish like so hoping to hookup soon

Last year they hung around all through the seasons they just moved from longy to north head to south head in and out of the harbour, saw some schools today on the sounder that looked like thu might be bonnies around south head but the swells were pretty so we came back in, fingers cross they're coming back, as with above I'm missing my sashimi as well as the off cuts make awesome bait and burley

Be careful of razor clams in that area as well I know a few people who have been cut up around the inlet there

I was going to buy one of these because they had such good reviews, but didnt like the idea of jigging with them as they didnt have 100% anti-reverse, old school solid design and I doubt you would break it, but the back winding would have annoyed me! Very heavy reel as well compared to the other options.

From memory I paid $169 for me 10000 salina 3, add a $100 gift voucher for Christmas and out of pocket i paid next to nothing for it, so if it craps itself really I'm down $70! I hooked a decent king on it a few weeks ago and held up really well, dragged it out of about 80m of water, handled perfectly well. I guess it comes down to expectations and the equipment you have been using. I was using an old busted up penn reel with broken anti reverse and landed my first king on that, then decided a backwinding handle isn't much fun chasing kingys so I went and got a super cheap mkart reel (another penn) and its landed me plenty of kings, and now upgraded to the salina. So based on my previous tackle the okuma reel will be excellent, and I didn't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on tackle at the moment, I'm still using a hand me down rod that's cost me a whole $20 on tip replacements nothing more, so I'm quite happy doing it on a budget. It depends what your used to though. If you've used cheaper gear before a saltiga might be wasted on you especially when you could buy 2 okumas spooled up for less than the price of a saltiga

Have you tested to see how far the WIFI signal travels through the water and still communicates with the iPad and iPhone? The gopros can go down to 60m depth just curious to see how far you can get it before it stops communicating thats all, seems like a pretty good option as a sounder add on

1.1m king 6m off the bottom, you make it sound so easy mate !! haha awesome stuff, been a bit of a tough season for the kings, we didnt have alot of luck in and around the harbour and always had fresh squid

According to Okuma if there is too much grease in the gears the anti reverse becomes faulty, considering my salina 3 was brand new i can only assume that leaving it in the car in the heat caused some disruption to the distribution of grease inside the reel. It works perfectly now and havent bothered sending it back, but I feel confident knowing I can when ever i please. Just look after it you'll be fine. Pretty sure the 16000 comes in a high speed version too. Super smooth drag, nice handle, line goes on well only thing is the rated capacity was about 100m less on my 10000 than stated. Only got 300yarss of 50Lb power pro super 8 slick braid with barely any backing. So just check because if line capacity is important it might be a problem.

Mate when you say warriewood rocks did you walk from little Narrabeen and head north?

Haha yeah I'd only use light line don't Wana get dragged under water by a big kingy or anything haha definitely not the plan ! Think it'd be good to watch how squids come out of the weed and strike a jig and also watch how the fish react the hook presentation ect, would be in relatively shallow water as well about 5m max too

Been getting alot in 5-10m and just giving plenty of sink time to the jigs, using 1.5 and 2.5 jigs still good results. What leader are you using ? I was using 10lb fluro carbon my mate had no leader and no hookups at all so might have something to do with that if your running mono?

Mate we've been having some good squid sessions but try the deeper water and we've been getting good squid at spots we weren't getting any last year so just keen trying heaps of spots. What jigs are you using? I've got a warm jacket yamashata jig in pink but the one that's working really well at the moment is a yozuri lumo in pink glow in the dark one I bought last year. Had a big bust off (had my drag set too tight) first time I've had a squid try and take me straight back into the weed, caught a few other big ones after that but I reckon that one was pretty solid.

For some reason the reel started workin again, could have possibly due to bein left in the car and the grease might have been effected by the heat took It out on the weekend and worked fine so I'll just keep an eye on it

Haven't been out for a few weeks last time we headed out in the boat that big swell came through so we only went to longy and came back into the heads, by the looks of it we'll give out wide a miss tomorrow as well. Good work on the marlin

Gay, what did they do ? Repair or replace the reel?

So getting my gear ready for an outing tomorrow and I felt my new reel have backwinding even though the anti reverse switch is on so i turn it off and on again and complete failure of the anti reverse gearing an it's just free winding !!! I'm gutted as you can imagine as I was rigging it up in hope of tackling some big fish grrrrr now gotta take it back and hope my crappy penn real doesn't get demolished by something Has anyone else had this happen or am I stupidly unlucky ?
