  1. Ended up getting the tackleshop to price match against online, very happy now just need to get line for it, I want 50LB wa thinking maybe Fins braid in green? Or maybe powerpro super slick in marine blue, the fins I have on my sienna is pretty nice to fish with, both about the same price as well?
  2. Your best bet would be to catch both, that way if you catch nothing you know for sure they just weren't hungry on the day or you weren't where the fish were, I've had squid and yakkas both smashed and left alone in the harbour
  3. Btw record is 55cm for bait
  4. U think it might have been a FR record however with our a photo I think all you will have is bragging rights, but have caught some solid yakkas in the harbour before tho
  5. Dammit ! I asked for a gift card from a tackle shop for Chrissy maybe I'll buy the reel off the shop online and save the voucher for something else, can you pm me the website?
  6. We have the same setup, couldnt be bothered to mount a proper switch and waterproof it all properly and this works really well for us, easy to turn on and off. Mounting points on the battery are using clamps like jumper leads, have tested going over big waves ect so long as battery is secure and doesnt move then the clamps wont budge, we havent had the terminals come off once since I installed them and all is good! Obviously you can strip and attach the wires permanently to the fittings if you want it to be perfect, but this overall was a much cheaper solution as a waterproof switch was about $50 Also the best tank to use I found was a beer barrel bought it online off feebay for 35 bucks had a lid and inlet pipe already fitted, just drilled holes in the top of the tank for water to flow out
  7. BOM pressure is pretty low atm Friday will be a bit better that usually plays a bit part, there are exceptions of course we caught dozens of kings and it was only 1007, usually around 1020 is good tho
  8. Not if the fruit has had chemicals used that the government has deemed to be safe for human consumption. If your concerned about the fish then simple don't eat it. Bream carry higher levels of dioxins than any other fish according to tests when exposed to contaminated waters. I personally don't eat bream anymore. Do some searching for test levels for that area and see of you can find any results for other fish as well
  9. Yakkas and fresh squid don't bother buying it, probably won't get touched. Soft plastics work pretty well out there, slick rigs, flick baits and shads have all gotten me good results. Lightly weighted pillies will usually be smashed by a kingie too so don't just put em out on your light rod, the number of times I've been busted off on half a pillie on my light gear out there, starting to get over it haha
  10. Probably the same one that was munching on the whale carcas off whale beach recently, latest update is it may be a false alarm, hopefully that is the case anyway for both their sakes
  11. http://m.smh.com.au/nsw/search-for-two-missing-kayakers-continues-20121209-2b3f1.html Hopefully the mentioned parties are ok...
  12. Mate you probably get asked more questions than any Raider on this site when you post a report! Can you be more specific when you say "burley hard" How big do you cut up the pieces, how frequently do you put out the burley and how much at a time. Do you use a burley bomb and drop it to the bottom to try get it away from the sweep?
  13. It will definitely work the problem is bringing the "bomb" back up so your fish doesnt get tangled and then bust you off, just make sure you mount a GoPro & upload the footage for us all
  14. Also if its on the surface its more likely to get chomped up by a Tailor. Tailor will usually sit up on the surface and kings and trevs sitting below those schools generally. no no no wrote an article about it somewhere but Im not sure where it is and whether or not it was online but I think I saw it in a magazine. Have a dig see if you can find it, but yeah a few meters off the bottom is ideal, just not too close or the squid will kill your yakka
  15. what lures were you trolling champ?
  16. About 1m should be enough, no harm in going a bit longer tho, kings will tend to be a bit deeper down so might not be as productive on the surface compared being trolled in a bit of depth
  17. Makes me wonder about the people who waterski and swim in the harbour up there, only a matter of time before one has a go at someone. Clearly theres a reason for the net up the far end of the park for people to swim in haha. Have you caught many bull sharks from the bridge area Tom?
  18. I appreciate it mate, don't know if it's such a good idea tho I may end up with 3k less in my bank account in the weeks following haha ! Caught some good bream at little manly on the weekend and trevally, should be plenty of fish around when we head out
  19. As above said Tom and pin it through the top of the nose would be the best place or you can bridle rig it with a rubber band or something through the eye socket
  20. Paul is that the Live Bait tank you were telling me about? Looks awesome! The yaks I have arent as good as yours but good enough to do that job at hand! Those look amazing though mate, such a good high seating position as well
  21. Amazing mate, thanks for sharing!
  22. Had the gillies baitfish lure in 5g pulling in multiple kings on 6lb braid about a month ago so it def works. Where have you been spotting the schools in the harbour of offshore? Only small tailor in upper harbour atm haven't ventured over to the other side yet so I'm assuming the Bonnie's and sambos have moved in now ?
  23. Great fish mate, also keen to know what kind of bait/lures have been working for you best. Not sure if its just the timing of the photos and whether they are taken well after being caught but looks like its around midday that you have caught them?
  24. I am still dirty ! The kings are there they just haven't been playing nice the last few weeks, usually pretty tough around a full moon and the BOM has been all over the shop as well which shuts them down. Shoot me a PM if your keen to head out sometime and see if we can chase em down, I don't think your doing anything wrong out last 2 outings have come up with nothing as well, it's just the way when your chasing the kings. This weekend just gone last year was super foggy and we went out to longy caught nothing, came back into the harbour and landed 3 kings at north head at 1pm, very weird for that time of day.
