  1. I got myself a great okuma rod rock from bcf for about it holds about 12 rods and you can set it up back to back or wall mount them also has the option of stacking them one on top of the other for big beach rods, Iv got mine set up back to back and it works great its got about 5 eastury rods in it plus my fly rod and my 2 big beach rods
  2. while its sad that a fisherman lost his life if your stupid enough to fish somewhere that is obviously unsafe even to blind freddy then you have no one to blame but yourself, it's the darwin theory in full effect only the strong and smart survive obviously he wasnt all that smart
  3. best birthday ever!! would really like to see some pics of the fish and the lake or pond or whatever you want to call it haha would be suprised there would be enough food and space for them in such a small body of water
  4. great stuff dude allways good to get the kids into it bet they were both stoked when those two flatties were landed
  5. Im no pro but I have caught salmon off the break wall at windang where lake illawarra emptys out so Id assume theyd be around windang island as well, also check out around the kiama blow hole as Iv had mates tell me storys (believable ones haha) of catching salmon, trevaly and bonito off the rocks there, the way they explain it is if you were looking directly at the blow hole go to the left and hike down the rocks you can fish off the left side but Iv been told the right is more productive you will know your in the right spot because Im pretty sure you can see the entrance to the blow hole from the rock platform and it's pretty deep there to, Id probably avoid it in rough seas but lest you get swept off at the best you will get very wet and a bit scratched up at the worst drown and be turned into a fine red mist if you get sucked into the blow hole on a big swell tight lines
  6. sorry fezza as my name suggests I'm new to the forum world, are you telling me to pm you for information or telling others to only pm me with information? sorry if Iv broken any rules mate
  7. G'day Raider's My brother and his mate's have said they would like to go out on a fishing charter and are turning to me as the only mad keen fisherman they really know haha so was just wondering if you guys knew any good charter company's in the wollongong area that will cater to a largeish group not extremely large Id say maybe 8-10 guys maximum, any info or numbers you guys can put forward would be greatly appreciated. Cheer's mateys and tight lines!
  8. wow man 78cm thats a stonker of a flaty, hell it aint even a flaty thats some form of prehistoric fish haha and yeah the bigest ones are usually the breeding females so good stuff on letting her go will be plenty of flathead in the bay for years to come because of it and from what Iv heard the monster ones dont taste the best anyway
  9. that it is chris cheers mate thanks for the tip predator next time I go down there I'll scout round for it is it only green weed they eat because from memory most of the weed is a browny colour and definately when your around the area hit me up and we will go for a session I'll be moving down to dapto permanently in the near future so will allways be ready to fish there as it isnt even a 5minute drive I'll probably give some SP's a go down there a freind told me he's caught flaties of the gulp prawns Im just not to confident lure fishing at the moment as Im still saving up for a good reel that will take braid so am loaded up with 2.6kg mono it does the job ok but I think with lures youd want that extra sensitivity that braid provides along with that 0 stretch to feel any knocks and get a quick strike in, not sure if my theory is acurate but yeah give us a yell when your keen to go
  10. I believe you about catching over a 100 bream there as thick as flies on pile of cow dung out there, I have caught the occasional flatty there to but I tend to fish with very light weight to avoid snags on the rocky bottom so that might be the reason of not catching as many flaty's because my bait is moving to high and fast in the water collum for them? havent seen anyone catch blackfish there before but might give it a try, just need to find somewhere to get that green weed they love so much but I might struggle as Im lead to believe most fisho's keep that secret locked up tighter than fort knox! lol
  11. G'day Raiders Went down for a fish with a mate at one of my fave spots on lake illawarra no keepers but in 2hours we managed about 6 or 7 bream between us all around the 15 to 20cm mark, gotta love that hot water running out to keep the fish biting through the cold weather!
  12. haha well rejoice my freind for the power company has not a leg to stand on, hit me up if you ever wanna go out there I love fishing there allways garunteed something on your line!
  13. Iv never been prawning myself but I have been told they run rampant in lake illawarra at the right times, my freind told me about one spot I'll try to explain it as best I can but if you stand on the bridge at windang (facing out to sea) if you look to your right you will see a small island he said that they get thick there in the chanell between the island and the mainland when the settings are right for them (not sure what the settings are) so yeah hope that helps somewhat
  14. cheers empty hooks I just talked to the lake illawarra authority and they informed me that it's there land and they have no problem with me fishing there as long as I clean up after myself wich I allways do so Im going to hean on into there office and get something in writing from them saying it is there land to keep on me when fishing there so that if they do try and fine me I can say no sorry this isnt your land. this was a much eaiser battle than I thought it would be haha
  15. I'm not really sure about that one but my dad has a freind who fishes the bay fairly regularly Ill hit him up for you see if he knows
  16. thats a really nice flatty dude, first on a sp and on fathers day, now thats what I call a good day
  17. G'day raiders Havent been on here for a while due to family matters, but would like to bring to the attention of everyone what I feel is a massive abuse of our fishing rights, I went down to one of my faveorite local spots in Dapto at the Tallawarra power station where I have fished numerous times without a problem only to be told by a jumped up power station official that the stretch of water I fish from and the land next to it is now private property, there is no signage or fencing and access to the area is through a public car park, I think this is a massive joke and should not be allowed to stand as recreational fishos fishing in the "hot water canal" do not affect the operation of the power plant in any way what so ever, the area in question is a good 400 or more meteres from the plant itself and I fail to see how fishing in that area affects the plants operation in any way, I was infromed that if I were to fish in there I would be fined for tresspasing, any advice you guys can give on what avenues I should persue to fight this bogus blockage of a great fishing area would be greatly appreciated and then once I find the right avenues to pursue the support of members of this site would be even greater appreciated, hope theres someone out there who can help me. tight lines mateys
  18. wow that would of been so awsome to see
  19. ah yeah sweet as... hurry up summer!!
  20. no worries man sounds like a plan might have to come chuck some soft plastics for some breambos with you one time... do you know if there's whiting in there? Iv read alot on surface luring whiting on the flats and it sounds like alot of fun
  21. ahh that sucks ay, if its any comfort he's in a place where there allway's biting and the sun never stops shining him n my grandpa can go for a fish
  22. true true davido were you the ozzie bloke up the end of the breakwall with the beenie on? you helped me get the tern off my hook last week? haha yeah for fishing off the breakwall I use a 12ft beach rod with a big reel not really sure on the schematics of it but its got about 30lb line and I use a 40lb leader might be pretty heavy to some but I figure better to go a bit heavier than get constant bust off's when you snag on the wall if you want Iv got another beach rod about 10ft long with a reel with about the same weight of line if you want to set up a day I'll bring it down and you can have a fish with it if you want and yeah pillies on a gang hook set up seem to work best tho I bought a pack of the premade ones but dont really like them due to the fact it has a swivel right on the first hook which I think spooks the fish off a little bit
  23. I'm no expert on jewfish never even fished for them actually hahaha but from what I'v read here and other places live yakkas they call them I think there proper name is yellow tail I think there like a smallish baitfish you can catch around wharfs with a bread berley and small hooks go well or live squid or as fresh as you can get hope that helps a little
