    Boat advice

thats what I was thinking gazza I dunno about a center console as Im not incredibly technically minded I was thinking a tiller steer with a a seat put in next to it for comfort maybe a few other seats here and there and putting in a casting deck if the bottom isnt completely flat but yeah the environments you described were the exact ones I was thinking of, I best keep on saving my dollars up Id like to get it a.s.a.p quite excited as it would be my first boat ever

    Boat advice

G'day raiders I was out with a mate today looking at some ex army pontoon boats there about 10ft and made of aluminum and going for about 1.5 grand as is no trailer or motor, Im in the process of saving up for a boat at the moment and after seeing this boat today Im sort of sold on it just coz I think it would be cool to cruise around in an ex army boat! what size motor would do you guys think I would need to get it around adequately basically I was looking at just keeping it simple with just a tiller steer and putting a seat on the back for steering comfort, so yeah what size should I be looking at and what price range would it be roughly? also how much for a trailer again just looking for a ball park figure or would I have to look at a custom trailer as it is wider than most aluminum tinnies Iv seen. any advice or pointers you can give would be greatly appreciated, my mate said his uncle bought one from the same place and it handles ok with a 50hp motor which hes set up with a center console but Im looking to keep it very simple and cheap as possible whilst still being reliable. these are the ones I was looking at there all stacked one on top of the other just so you have an idea of what Im talking about tight lines mateys
  4. Im with mako it was probably a ray Iv had it happen to me a couple of times you get all excited with this line peeling off then it just goes to ground and you feel like your on a snag
  5. I dunno about your pooch mate I reckon most of the waters in the western sydney area are to polluted youd probably give him a bad case of the runs at best, hit us up in a pm if you wanna go for a carp fish next weekend or something gabba Im in the area n like I said 2mins from lake gillawana might have a decent spot to try there to, just got to get the location off a mate who saw a bloke pulling em in when he was riding his bike through there
  6. sounds pretty fun I live about 2mins from lake gillawana might go give it a crack one weekend for a laugh spose I can allways give em to mates who have cats or something as Iv heard theyv got a pretty muddy taste and quite bony plus I wouldnt eat a bream from lake gillawana if there where any there haha though on an interesting side note my uncle once told me a story about a couple of russian blokes he knew who used to go out and catch them take them home and put them in an inflatable kiddie pool with good filtration and feed them on cat kibble (the dry biscuits) for a few weeks and they then tasted pretty good
  7. ah well hopefully that helps you get onto a few bream, I know the area has been pretty heavily trolled my grandfather used to use a few choice words about them all the time so that might be why the fishing isnt so grouse there anymore
  8. my late grandfather used to fish off the rocks between huskinson and vincentia beach basically if your standing on husky beach looking out to sea look to your right and theres some rocks there, thats where he allways used to fish and used to pull in bream and ludrick, fish off the right side because theres a lagoon that emptys right next to the rocks, havent fished there myself for a long long while but yeah hope that helps
  9. cant say much about the fishing as I only ever chased the bread n butter species down there when I was much younger and from the beach, but green patch is a quality place to camp heaps of birds there which the kids can feed (not sure if theyv made it illegal now I heard some talk of it) also roos and bandicoots might be an idea to take a few water pistols to keep the possums at bay though I remember when I was younger one climbed up mums leg at the dinner table while we were camping though the screaming and running round from her was quite good and also had another one decide the car was a great place to set up a new home but a few squirts from a water pistol sends them on there way saves your food and doesnt hurt them none
  10. you could try down the windang break wall or around kiama boat harbour? bout an hour or so drive but a nice location n theres lil cafes n shops n stuff she can look round if the fishings not firing or you could try garrie beach in the national park
  11. good to see the slam baits work I got a whole bunch of them off the internet, havent really had much of a chance to use them yet but its good to know they work!! nice catch btw to mate
  12. sorry but clearly there is a bit of common sense involved when picking a safe spot to fish on rocks, hmmm it seems to be getting washed over by waves constantly and there quite large does that seem like a safe and smart place to throw a line in anyone with an ounce of common sense would say no this dude went out in what were clearly rough and dangerous conditions. Even if you have no experieance if the rocks are getting pounded by set after set of large wave what hope do you have of standing there and not getting washed off?! not only that he risked the life of his fiance to so yeah Id say common sense plays a pretty large part in picking a safe spot to fish and also plays a fairly large part in everything we do in life sure some accidents are un-avoidable but this one could of been avoided quite easily
  13. did I not say at the begining of my post that it is sad a life was lost? whether he was new to the sport or not does not excuse a lack of common sense in fishing a spot that even blind freddy would deem unsafe in the given conditions of which the accident happend, I feel for his family theyv lost a son and brother that sucks but ultimately its his own fault for not using common sense
  14. sad that a life was lost but if your going to go and fish off rocks in big swells with little to no experience as it says in the report he'd only taken up rock fishing recently and been out a handfull of times then you deserve everything you get, just another person proving the darwin theory to full effect only the strong and SMART surrvive obviously he was greatly lacking in the latter
  15. nice report man allways good to fish a new spot and lol at the bush walkers to bad they didnt walk back past you or ya could of rubbed it in a little lol
  16. congrats bro, hoping to crack my first fish on soft plastics soon now that I have a graphite rod n reel with braid so I can have a bit more control over the suckers!
  17. great report but in future if you could include photos of said babe it would be much appreciated
  18. well the event be moved to another day or is it done and dusted? though I might not be able to attend now as Im in the process of moving which sort of sucks but Im moving to dapto so will be within easy reach of the south coast beaches which is a win in anyones books having the nearest beach only a 15min drive away
  19. nice, I allways get a buzz from seeing dolphins or seals even if they do make the resident fish population scarper n head for the hills so to speak lol
  20. nothing more to say but, nooooiiiiiccccceeee
