  1. I fished on Saturday at one of the local spots and this guy catching luderick and drummer hooks up and jumps down to a lower ledge to land a fish. turns his back to the ocean and wave came and smashed him from behind about waste level and forces him into the rocks. He gets back up and continues to face away from the ocean while trying to land his fish. me and my mate were yelling at him to turn around and he just waved to us. 2 minutes later a freak wave came through and took out the whole ledge... he is lucky to be alive.. When we were leaving we went and spoke to him and his response was 'i don't have a net'
  2. Sounds to me like a brilliant fishing session.
  3. Spinning off the stones tomorrow morning and hoping something is on the chew.
  4. Braid will give you a better casting distance for sure.
  5. finally get to hit the ledge for a spin on Sat... It's been a long time coming

where will you be going mate?

  6. G'day mate, For that rod 1-3kg and budget id go either 1000 or 2500 size Shimano Stradic if you can stretch it a little more go the CI4 stradic in the same size.. If you just going to use it to chase Bream just go a 1000 size Stradic. They are a reel for under $200 that feel like a reel worth $500 I have a Stradic and it performs really nice. Good luck
  7. Ive got a Lox Blue Water stick that i have matched to my stella 10000 sw an 8000 twinny would be fine.. its rated 10-15kg and is just over 7 feet long. i have cast poppers and stick baits upto 120grms with ease. its rated for lures to 200grms (im assuming this means Jigs) They use Fuji gear and comes with a hard case. As for the Twin Power you could always purchase another spool and have one with 30lb and one with 50lb.
  8. all of those should be available at night plus squid and hopefully mister mulloway.. Im keen to flick a few vibes and plastics around but wouldn't mind being east of the bridge so that i can take a couple home for my lady. I was thinking of going to Clifton Gardens, Chinamans, Balmoral area etc.. Arriving in the arvo around 3-4pm and fishing for a few hours into the night. Let me know if your keen
  9. Well done mate! what did you get the bream on?
  10. Looks like there is going to be a bit of swell around this weekend so the point might not be an option this weekend. last time i was there it was rock cod city with a few morwong chucked in.. Josh.
  11. G'day Nick, I live on the north shore also, whats your target species and where are you thinking of going? Cheers Josh
  12. G'day Raiders, im heading out for a flattie bash this weekend (weather permitting) in the harbour around Clontarf beach area. does anyone know any good spots where i can target a couple to keep for my lady. I usually fish around Waverton but can't keep them from there due to toxins etc. Ill be land based and flicking soft plastics Cheers Josh
  13. Nice work, you have been getting a couple of fish lately. i come from Bulli (i live in Sydney now) next time im down i might have to go and cast a line see what comes up..
  14. sounds like an absolute ripper of a day. I wish i had a boat, i spun off north head for 4 hours on saturday without so much as a follow...
  15. Cheers mate, I figured that would be the case.. I hope there are some bonnies around they are always great fun on the lighter gear. Hope i get a cheeky hoodlum.
  16. G'day raiders have just returned from a few weeks in NZ and am keen to hit the stones this weekend for a cast.. Ill be fishing one of the various Nth Head (Sydney Harbour) spots. Just wondering if anyone has fished these areas in the last couple of weeks and if there has been much around? Cheers Josh
  17. I was going to post about this exact same topic and funnily enough this same fishing spot. i visited it for the first time a couple of weeks back and was pretty put off by the amount of garbage there. Someone had even left a broken esky. Its poor form.
  18. Nice work mate, Sambos are good fun hey! Definitely enough to keep you sane until the water warms up again. I know that the northern end of Stanwell Park produces some good fishing too i have dived from Bulga all the way around to Stany seen heaps of Blackies, Drummer, Whiting and other nice species. Cheers Josh

    Your waterway

Just fished my local down at Waverton.. Water is terrible murky green and there is heaps of debris in the water. There seems to be a fair bit of storm water run off still occuring.. No bites, however it was nice to feel some sunshine.
  20. G'day there has been a few around lately, try south end of coogie for Salmon!
  21. G'day mate i havent' been for a couple of years but from memory you can access it from the first bend heading north where the bridge starts (scarborough side).. there is a track then you climb down a ladder and make your way through the boulders on to the ledge. Can get busy on weekends down there but a good spot.. Actually i have been thinking of heading there for a fish when the water warms up a bit. if you have a look on google earth and zoom in you should be able to see the track. it pretty much starts where the bridge begins. Let me know how you go!!
  22. I have walked around from the western side.. well its more of a climb. We walked during low tide on the return the tide had come in and that required us to do a bit of rock climbing to get back which was an effort with rods and a back pack that weighs about 20kgs.... No trouble with ticks though... No fish either.. I probably wouldn't go back after my experience.. there are too many other great ledges to fish that are half the hassle.
  23. I seen a diver there a few weeks back get a nasty spike in the hand from a red rock cod when he went to clearn it he was in a world of hurt..
