Well done for correcting the mistake OWZAT. I think all the top Jewie Fishermen on this site had a few raised eyebrows. Shows the quality of fishermen that frequent this site. Still a very very good fish especially being caught by an older bloke from the beach. cheers inhlanzi

G'day slayer666 In the main body of the hawkesbury going for big jewies They took my livies ( tailor and yakka ) and cut through 80 lb jinkai and the I got the !#$%@ and put the wire and the gangs on em. They take fast and hard and you have to be ready. I lost at least another 4 or 5 today. Bait is old pillies. For some eason they prefer the olds berley pillies!!!!!!! And mate they taste awsome! Cook em like Ken says in tin foil bit of butter and a sueeze of lemon juice. I think they will be coming into the Cowan soon. cheers inhlanzi

More of the Hairies As you can see I don't bother taking out the hooks till they have cooled down a bit! Here is a close up on the business end - Raiders have a plan ready on how too deal with these toothy worriors when you get them aboard - especially at night. G'day Raiders Out early, fished the low tide for 4 to 5 very hard hours, nothing at all till about 11h00 - I was starting to think about packing it in when the action started. You guessed it the buggers moved in and snacked my jewie baits and I knew that was the end of the jewie fishing for a while. So out with the wire and into em. Then 4 Hairies ( Me 3 mate 1) , 1 Bream and 1 Soapie Jew (Both of these went back). Here they are 4 hairies. I will add two more pics further down. Cheers inhlanzi

This is from an old post!! Gday Raiders Went out early this morning ... needed to fish And the fishing Gods were good to me. The Haireis still seem to like me. Got a nice one early on in the session. Very gentle take at first ... nearly missed him and then he was off like a train. Best fight of all the ones I have caught in the last week. I have just had dinner and if nothing else Fishraiders - get yourself a hairy to eat. They have gone to the top of my list in terms of taste and quality. I tried Ken's recipe with a bit of butter and a squirt of lemonon tin foil under the grill. Yum yum yum its all you need. Managed to get a few decent squid as well. The big jews are still evading me but with hairies and squid to feed on can't say I am that bothered. Cheers inhlanzi

Hey kevvie Sorry missed your your reply there on the 9th. I have got all of them in the main body ie past juno and refuge in the holes in the channel towards lion. I am by no means an expert on these awsome fish but from what I have learned I reckon another 2 degrees lower and they will be up and into the system. Gees they eat well too... I hope there will be a lot of cherry poppin on the weekend! I have got all of them as a by catch to the ever elusive big jews so as I say no expert by they are there. cheers inhlanzi

G'day Raiders Justgot back in Here are the Hairtail form today Man what can you say... got out nice and early to catch the morning high. First cast - hairtail, second cast - horse tailor, third cast - fat ass brim..whats going on supposed to be catching jewies!!!!! Eventually got my big baits set and waited the turn - zip on the big rods but the little ones kept firing. Banjo - Sand Sharks / Bream / Tailor / Soapie jews / Small Snaper / Small Hammerheads / Squid / and then ... now and again a Hairtail. The Hairies are here guys...I think that makes six for the week for me. Still struggling to tangle with a big jewie but after a day like today not too bothered it hasn't happened yet. Bait - dead ordinary shell servo pillies!!! I did a whole 2 kg bag today. (No Burleying either) Weather was overcast and rain, very little wind. Have just finished dinner - 1 x Hairtail, 1 x squid, 1 x Tailor 1 x garden salad and 1 x bottle wine. Yahhoooo Hope those of you who go out this long weekend I hope you have as much luck as I did.
