  1. I love staying at Grabine and fishing Wyangala. I don't fish for cod or though i would like too. I generally trawl some tazzie devils around and when not throw a few worms of the bank targeting trout. 3 hours from Sydney great place dogbox
  2. I just got back from a few days at Burrill Lake which was some excellent fishing. While there I invested in some new crap traps because the witches hats are restricted from Burrill lake. Crabs galore in the lake had some great catches. It has renewed my interest in crabbing. Has anyone been crabbing recently in Botany Bay or the Georges river. Interested to hear is anyone has caught any mud crabs, I've heard there in the Wonny. Dogbox
  3. Well MV Sunray that exactly what we discussed after the hits went quite, live bait tube and using live bait when we get a marlin up dogbox
  4. Went wide Sunday had low expectations the water temperature around 20 degrees, sea where flat as. Dropped a spreed 200 fathoms west of browns drove pass the car park and headed NE. About 5 NM from browns found some birds and bait in 350 fathoms. Sounded a nice arch at 30 fathoms down and started to work the area. The arch came to the surface and then we got our first look at the fish. Nice black marlin. The marlin hit the spreed over and over for the next 30 minutes but we failed to get a hook up before it lost interest. Continued east landed a 10kg albacore in 420 fathoms and spent the rest of the day catching and releasing countless stripe tuna. Excellent day on the water makes you forget those days of pull'n speeds all day without turning a reel dogbox
  5. I for got to add When i was on Mystery Island the deal included that i had to bail the water out of the leaky boat.
  6. Yes i did Fished Vanuatu and Mystery island caught nothing What i learn t was Mystery Island has great fishing but you need to supply your own fishing gear. The locals don't have access to the type of gear you need to catch quality fish. In Vanuatu you need a whole day on a charter because the best fishing grounds are a few hours south of Port Villa by boat. Don't book anything on the boat its twice as expensive. The charter operators are aware of when the cruises ship arrive, so all you need to do is book them directly telling them that you are arrive by ship, time and date and your in. On Mystery island get off first you'll have to get to the guys that take you fishing before anyone else, there was no pre-booking. $100 will get you a boat and driver for the day. All things are negotiable with the islanders. One thing i would like to do is to fly to Mystery island and stay for a few weeks. when i was there i hang out with a guy called Josephus, he said i could come back and stay with him and his family. He would show me the island life, its pretty basic there. No roads all travel is by foot or boat. dogbox

Hi fishos Can i get some clarification, on the DPI website small poddys 20 in total under 15cm, sea bully 20 in total only 30 cm. So what is the illegal size over or under 30cm? dogbox
  9. The bait i used fresh USA squid, jews loved it. The flathead and bream where all caught on salted mackerel fillets. The fish all caught on the turn at bottom of the tide. dogbox
  10. Went to the Hawkesbury river fished most of the usual spots for nil. There appeared to be a higher than normal trawler activity, maybe that had something to do with it. Fished the rail bridge score: 3 flathead, 6 thumping bream, few soapies and a nice metre Jew. The jew was released dogbox
  11. I can find the link, I search google but came up with 0's It was posted by Port Hacking Game Fishing Club on Sunday Facebook. dogbox
  12. Anyone seen this The photo of the proposed fishing ban wont load. Includes Bate bay, all of Port Hacking, off the Royal National park and Kurnell dogbox
  13. I wanted to put a plug into fishing at Swansea lake Macquarie For us its less that two hours drive from western Sydney if the time of day is right before you arrive at Swansea. We camped at the Lakeside caravan park, may I say the park is one of the best. The first three days the wind was Gale force so it gave me a chance to drive around the surrounding area popping into tackle shops etc to get some idea where to go and get the miss shopping out of the way. Once the wind eased days later we got our chance to go fishing. There where plenty of fish Bream Flathead and Whiting around the shallows. While at pelican point we where witness to a nice Jew caught in the middle of the day. By mid after noon it was time let the daughter swim around the sand island in the channel water so crystal clear and us to just enjoy the sun and surrounds. The locals are telling me that the lake is fishing very well, best in years and if you haven't heard the DPI is about to transfer tonnes healthy fish that have been living in the canal to the power station that has been off limits to anglers. Tones of good healthy breeders. The following day we headed outside, I had no idea where to go. Popped outside lots of bait lots of birds stopped at the 35m mark straight off the island and got a feed of Flathead. Headed down off Catherine hill bay to a reef and had no problem in catching a few reef species to add to the tub. I was really impressed and if your looking to get out and try something different not to far away give this place a go. dogbox
  14. Great ill plan a trip thanks dogbox
  15. Well the filter should not leak it looks and sounds like you have installed it correctly I would try and unscrewing the filter check the seal on top of the filter for and small cuts or damage, then run your finger on the inside of the fuel filter housing feeling for any dirt or imperfections in the casting. Is the filter housing plastic or aluminum? I had a plastic housing once and had problems with leaks. You need to check with the store regarding refunding products, my experience with BCF is that they will accept a faulty product in return for a store credit. dogbox
  16. Interesting I had a look at the photos and i see that image 4 of 4 is of the exhaust outlets above the prop. If this oil residue your talking about then this is above the gear box and can only becoming from the two stroke oil. You said that the engine started with a lot of smoke indicating a lot of oil burning in the combustion chamber. So its probable that some of the two stoke oil may not fully burn in the process and pushed down inside of the leg by exhaust gasses. In my Yamaha if it sits for awhile the fuel evaporates in the fuel system leaving two stoke oil. On start up it is little more smoky than usual. To compensate for this i start and run my motor every two or so weeks when i fit it in. In saying that gear box shaft seal behind the prop will eventually fail like any part on your boat. Ive also heard that braid if caught around the gear box shaft seal can cause damage but i have never experienced this. dogbox

    E10 Fuel

Hi I'm not expert i only use 95 or 98 Google says, Ethanol Gasoline - General Problems/Issues: 1. Water Absorption! Water Contamination (W/C) and Phase Separation (P/S) of gasoline; Ethanol attracts, absorbs and holds moisture in fuel tank with increased occurrence of lean, water-diluted fuel. 2. Vapor lock or fuel starvation- Most common in carbureted engines, hot weather and/or at high altitude. (Ethanol increases gasoline's vapor pressure). 3. Drop in octane (after water absorption, P/S and W/C occurs). 4. Decreased fuel efficiency and mpg due to lower energy. E10 Reformulated Gasoline = 111,836 BTU/gallon. Non-ethanol Gasoline = 114,000 BTU/Gallon. (Diesel and Kerosene Jet Fuel have about 129,000 BTU/gal). 5. Decreased life cycle of parts and engine. 6. Decreased shelf life of gasoline. Engine/Parts Damage: 1. Wear and damage of internal engine parts. 2. Damage to metal, rubber, and plastic parts of fuel system. 3. Corrosion of metal parts in fuel system and engine. 4. Deterioration of elastomers and plastic parts. 5. Deterioration of non-metallic materials. 6. Fuel permeation through flexible fuel lines. 7. Drying, softening, stretching and/or cracking of rubber hoses, seals and other rubber components. 8. Oxygen sensor damage. 9. Damage or premature disintegration of fuel pump. 10. Carburetor damage, including clogging. 11. Dirty and clogged fuel filters. 12. Clogging and plugging of fuel injectors. 13. Destruction of certain fiberglass fuel tanks. 14. Removal or fading of paint and varnish (both internal and external parts of engine). 15. Piston/bore failure through knock/pre-ignition. 16. Piston ring sticking. 17. Unsuitable ignition timing resulting in ignition failure. 18. Gumming-up of fuel injectors, carburetors, etc. due to release of accumulated deposits in engine from ethanol alcohol's solvent properties. E10 Drivability Issues: 1. Engine performance problems, often simply due to lower energy of ethanol-blends. 2. Hard starting and operating difficulty. 3. Hesitation and lack of acceleration. 4. Stalling, especially at low speeds.
  18. I'll give Nelson bay a plug. There is plenty of place to do some land base fishing. Plenty of shore walks for those time when your pushing the pram. Nelson bay is a great place to eat plenty of choices pubs clubs and cafes. Its has plenty of shopping opportunities for your wife dare I say but they do need a little shopping fix while on holidays. From Nelson Bay you can do day trips to Tea Gardens Seal Rocks and Foster or one of my favorites is into Newcastle, lunch at the Queens Hotel on the Hunter river. You can sit have a beer wonderful lunch music and watch those massive coal ships come in and out of the port. There is so much to do, I have to agree with scrachie "its gods country"
  19. That's really interesting, I didn't know that. One of my favorite place to go freshwater fishing is Grabine on the banks of the Wyangala Dam upper Lachlan. You can camp on the waters edge beautiful country side only 3.5 hours drive from Sydney. Murry cod and trout. dogbox
  20. Hi mate If your interested in fresh water fishing you can catch bass upper reaches of the Nepean river above the weir near the Rock look out Mulgoa accessible only by boat. There is also bass in the Nepean far up as Camden and Menangle park accessible by Kayak. Its also worth noting that if the Warragamba Dam spills in winter then its flushes trout into the Nepean river. The Trout don't last long as the water is to warm to survive the summer river temperatures. dogbox
  21. thanks if you hear of it opening please let me know i put a trip up there on my agenda db
  22. Hi fisho's is there anyone who can give me a progress report on the upgrade to Terrigal boat ramp. It should be near completion. I cant find any information on the web. dogbox
  23. Here is a report from the SWR Outside there are a few snapper about but these fish have been a little hard to get over the last few weeks. Some of the guys have been going as far as Nambucca to get them. There are plenty of kings at Fish Rock; it’s been going really well there. There have been a few pearlies coming from The Dot, and heaps of mowies there as well. There are also plenty of leather jackets. Once you get past 60-80m the jackets are there. Off the rocks there are good numbers of tailor and drummer. In the river we’re seeing a fair run of blackfish, and there are still plenty of good size bream. A few jew were caught this week as well. Off the beaches, especially Smoky Beach, there’s tailor, bream and some thumper whiting. The bar can be dangerous be really carefull dogbox
