  1. Years ago I used to be a keen black fish fisho Just putting it out there if you are a black fisho and would like to get on a boat fishing in the Georges river for black fish PM me share costs dogbox
  2. I like to cruse around the water way when I go fishing, I like the hunting aspect of fishing which is why I find myself fishing a loan. My friends get frustrated when they come out because they just want to get there line in the water ASAP anywhere. Anyway on Thursday I sounded some ground near Oatley park in an area I have never sounded before. I came across dozens of fish arches hugging the rocky bottom a bottom so ruff I wasn't game to put the anchor down for fear it would never come back up. The arch location was interesting , they appeared to be in every rock crevice not above the rocks, depth about 4m in a formation of what I would call schooling packed tight. If I would to have a stab I would say they where black fish. Dose anyone have any thoughts they can add to using your sounder to identify fish types dogbox
  3. There is one at deep water park at the motor boat club I use Sandy Point regularly I have 560 bar crusher launch and retrieve by myself Parking is ok as long as others boaties DONT TAKE UP TWO SPOTS!!! I've never had anymore than three boats parking at Sandy Point No pontoon to tie up too so at high tide buffers are required low tide you can find your self hopping off the back of your boat sinking into a foot of mud. Como and the Wonni bridge have ramps What type of boat and car do you have? dogbox
  4. Hi mate I us IMOS to predict ocean current and have in the past had the same problem holding the bottom. I found that once I started using braid I found the bottom easier with less lead I take three rods one fitted with 15kg mono and two fitted with braid 6 and 15kg I also found that the type of sinker you use can affect the way your line surfs across the bottom. I have a sinker shaped in a triangle, its absolutely useless in any current, it seams to plan the line upwards off the bottom. dogbox
  5. I new someone was going to ask I'm old school good old bait salted slimy mack fillet and mullet burley up with fish frames The fish where schooling in depth 3m fast running water Water Temp was cold 15 dogbox

  11. Found myself on Wednesday having missed an appointment with the doctor, thinking it was Thursday. My wife and i decided that there was no better way to cerebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary than to go fishing. We arrived at Bate bay at 9 conditions excellent Fished wide bate bay bottom bashing, trawled the cliffs down to Wattamolla harbor for lunch then fished the 40m line off the rock fall returned a total of a dozen Flathead all good size. Water temp 20.5 in port hacking it was 15, there was plenty of bait along the cliffs Even though the seas where flat there is still enough energy in the ocean for a 2m + breakers at jibbom bomy
  12. Years ago i was regularly fishing off Coal Cliff and Stanwell park lunching from Bellambi I can vouch that the grounds off there are some of the best close to Sydney for a days fishing. By the way anyone want make a claim the secret snapper and Jewish fish spot just nth of the ramp called by the locals, Grey street reef? It should be firing this time of year at night. dogbox
  13. I have no problem in putting down my anchor in 40m of water. I happy to entertain the thought of a string of boats off one anchor, thats worth a photo Dogbox
  14. Thanks piratin Thanks, sound just what ill be doing hunting in SE corner. I'm planning to pick up some squid at hungry head drive pass Wattamolla for a few bonito head for the SE corner of the hump. I also got a tip that in 30m of water off sth Garie headland we should be able to bag out on Flathead. Another tip was a reef in 40m +- off the rock fall off Sth little Marley In regards to the weather i use three independent providers that predict weather all are forecasting waves and swell under 1m W -NW winds. Only one is predicting winds up to 20kph IMOS was showing that the ECC and a southerly east coast current are merging between JB and Sydney so hopefully we should have a low current speed. And yes find the bait school u find the fish, look for the arches under the bait school. Cant wait dogbox
  15. Found this post on a charter site with photos dated 17th May 2015 Weather was great and we had a full boat of 8 heading out Port Hacking heads at exactly 6.12am. Arrived at the HUMP and dropped lines. Apart from a few birds and nice company, there was nothing….. so we quickly moved out deeper into 140 meters of water chasing snapper. We dropped the anchor and within 10sec of hitting the bottom it was on !! Stanwell Park wide had little current so we decided to throw down some soft plastics which was a great surprise to Craig and his mates as they had never fished without bait before. By 11.30am we had a full bucket of nice Snapper, Morwong and flathead. We took off around 12.15pm for a quick trip back to Cronulla Ferry Wharf (Port Hacking River). On the way back back to cronulla we saw some a huge school of dolphins that where playing in out wake having heaps of fun…. Plenty of beers, cheers and fish….. a great day all around. dogbox

  17. Great catch l'm looking forward to getting back out in the bay soon, what was the water quality like? dogbox
  18. That's a shame Steve your not coming next weekend and unfortunate day on the water today. It can be a long hard day when the water is like a washing machine and I saw on the news tonight two boats overturned today one off Sydney and one off central coast. Hopefully if we get a nice number of boats coming out next Sunday we can cover more water and get on the fish. I don't think anyone would mind if we don't make the hump if we find fish on the way, I mean that is the purpose "Catching." What bait where you using? doxbox

  20. Great to see the Wonni with some nice flathead Back 25 years ago i used fish the wonni for flathead with live bait but river it went through some changes like the rest of the Georges around when the oysters died. Hopefully all the system continue will improve, a few weeks ago there was squid in the Georges something i never seen, lots poddy mullet swimming around the shallows of oyster bay. Some good signs of river quality. doxbox
