  1. for reef and rock fishing i go to kmart, hooks aren't the best but strong and when we start getting snagged on rocks or snipped of by jackets you dont start crying over the cost jarvis walker brand
  2. fished long reef on sat for no luck, we just drove around finding bait balls then tried casting livies to them but didnt do any good. im sure there are others on the site more experienced. just gotta keep getting on the water
  3. might be worth looking at your hooks, maybe changing them for new ones or going up/down a size. although sometime bass seem to hit lures with their mouths shut
  4. taylor mades and stump jumpers have been successful for me down the river and at other bass locations. usual colours being purple, black and orange.
  5. sometimes the squid will take chunks out of the yakkas , best not to put them in the same tank
  6. lots of info there mate, where abouts are you fishing, i.e. rivers or impoundments as they fish very different. hard to go past small dark or natural coloured soft plastics with a beetle spin blade if fishing bass in rivers can surface fish this style or let it sink depending on where they are holding. do some searches on the forum will come up with heaps of bass reports
  7. there are some genuine horses in oberon lake, can fish it from shore or kayaks . tassie devils or soft plastics with red tails.
  8. only prawned down in lake illawarra, usually not hard to find though cuz if they are on, there should be plenty of lights from other fishos. good spot light will show up the eyes if they are around
  9. should be starting to warm up with the usual suspects, good reports from up river last couple of months. only second hand info tho . havent been that way myself since Feb
  10. heading up there in two weeks, hoping to see some fish that good, nice work
  11. im sure the tackle shops in ulladulla or batemans bay would know . might be worth giving them a ring or stopping in when your down there
  12. I have a pair of spotters and love them but i got them on sale for $80. wouldnt pay 200-300 like they are normally. def better than $30 pairs IMO
  13. a while back there were some spinning reels that had a lever on the bail arm that allowed you to grab the line with your finger to hold it against the rod ready to cast, while flipping the bail arm over. this meant that the whole process was one handed. shimano made it , i think it was called quickfire. only used it once on a mates old set up and was a bit hard to use but could be a great idea if engineered correctly
  14. nice bag there mate, hoping to run into some on saturday outside of sydney
  15. you might get a few more sharks than snapper but better than being at work
  16. fished bawley point at easter didnt do any good but that shouldn't discourage you, if the rain stays away throw a squid jig in your box, can get some good ones off the stones when it is calm.
  17. sometimes it can be worth getting a second spool that can be loaded with a different line class. I just bought a Penn spinfisher havent used it yet but it is encouraging to hear good reports from fishos on the site.
  18. because of the recent rains, the fish are already starting to appear in penrith at the weir and below
  19. dont have any marks but there are a couple of deep holes a few kms up river from the bridge that hold jew, perfect for when its too rough outside. i think its on the southern bank about 3kms from the bridge.
  20. there might be some salmon lurking at the end of the runways near the exclusion zone bouys, usually troll for them but im sure a nice unweighted pillie would tempt them
  21. nice mate love those trevs on the sashimi plate.
  22. ive used the big z-man grubs a bit on the big 2 and 4 once jig heads with 7/0 hooks, just need to cast out in front of the drift as far as you can then let it sink through. the z-mans still dont hold up to the jackets tho.
  23. just call it a "distance release"
  24. any vehicle longer than 7.5m is only supposed to be in a suburban street for a period of one hour. the idea is for truck drivers to be able to stop for a meal but not stay there. its mostly a noise issue and not wanting heavy vehicles destroying suburban roads so very unlucky the neighbours are sooking about it. hinged drawbar is the go.
  25. the rain can turn the squid off if the water is muddy. should start to see the salmon come on
