  1. Fished a bleak looking morning at berowra waters on Saturday we were on the water by 6:30, (thanks to my brother in being half hour late) went to a hole about 15min run down river, ended up with three school jews biggest just under legal at 43cm, i was just happy to get a jew in the boat, was only using a light spin rod with 8lb mono so it took a while to get it close enough for the net. water was very warm even though the day wasn't, my sounder is an old hummingbird only gives temp in F, 69 to 70 degrees im sure most of you can convert that, the hole we did the best in was about 12m deep at low tide, bait was a peeled banana prawn straight from the supermarket deli. photos next time, got too excited and forgot to take one.
  2. Im heading to berowra waters next saturday for my first trip out since may, was wondering if anyone had fished there yet this season for any success, don't want any specific areas or techniques just some stories of hook ups thanks
  3. great report there mate, ive had a yak for a few years and bought a tinnie with a 25 on the back last year, reading these type of reports makes me think i should be doing more yak style trips lets you get right into the rocks with worrying about prop and hull damages too i guess.
  4. got lucky enough to spend a week at shell harbour in jan, did well at windang mostly in the lake but got a few of an afternoon of the banks, looks like i need to start making the effort again, great take, good to see they are all well above legal
  5. i feel sorry for jackets sometimes, they have everything you look for in a fish except they are just so boring to catch some of the best meat to eat, heaps of them and no limits. like most people, i admit that once we have boated two or three we start moving around to find other fish
  6. ran into a whole mess of jackets a few years back, we just had all the fish in an esky on ice no water except the melt and the jackets stayed alive for hours and they actually took chunks out of alot of the other fish couldn't believe it
  7. at least the salmon is really good fun to catch I don't think much of eating them but I don't like fish soup
  8. im sure there is no problem putting the hobie on racks as far as getting it off, some racks can have a roller attached so you can slide the hobie off the back of your car and straight onto a dolly (or the in built wheel if that model comes with is) then you are only ever lifting half of the weight of the kayak at one time. I load a two person dagger sit-in kayak by myself all the time onto my ute using the method it weighs about 40kg and its easy im sure 50kg shouldn't be a problem
  9. went down yesterday morning with my brother for a run out from brooklyn, got into some flounder out towards the entrance to pittwater and in front of flint and steel, but the best spot was on high tide at juno point heaps of boats there we ran into some good sized salmon pulled my best one in so far was about 55 cm got him on 4lb line so pretty happy with that, does anyone know what that would weigh don't have any scales caught him on strips of tailor we got just before and there was a pretty big tailor head in his stomach water is still pretty warm but dirty when the tide changed
  10. lots of blokes say this, but the best way to get into any type of lure fishing is dont take any bait with you
  11. I fished down at the heads over the weekend, two short morning sessions in the river not far away from the moorings, we ended up with 16 fish boated a selection of bream flats and flounder but only kept one flatty for lunch. first time i fished so we didn't know any spots just moved around watching the sounder. they have a nice fairly new jetty on the side of the ramp but its very shallow there and a lot of weed.

I spent a week fishing the lake in jan, we did well drifting at the end of the channel markers in the lake, there was lots of boats anchored but we seemed to do better drifting, caught plenty of the undersize snapper, bream, tailor but did get a number of 45cm flatheads and flounder and a 2kg occy foul hooked but havnt been down since then
