    Waveriders?

Kabz If you are going to fish around port kembla for dollies this year i wouldn't be worrying about the waveriders, there are two good fads to check out.One off port kembla and the other is about 12kms out in between shellharbour and kiama, they aren't there yet but i'm told it wont be long before there put back.Keep an eye on the fisheries web site they put the gps marks on there when they have been put back,i caught heaps of dollies at both these locations.
  7. hi guy's, Spent a week up at Avoca and only got to get out a couple of times, but we made the most of it when we did.Always got a feed.My 8year old got his ist salmon and didn't it give him a hard time. The salmon was a big bugger and didn't my boy remind me of that.He wont forget that experience in a hurry.
  8. that yellow marker believe it or not is a f.a.d put there by the fisheries, they are doing maintenance on all the fad's it should be back around november

    Avoca

Guy's just wondering if anybody from that neck of the woods can tell me the best tackle shop there for getting information.I'm heading up that way with a couple of mates and families, and i want to be able to grab a feed of fish. We are there for the week starting saturday and have no idea of what's biting or where to get them. Thanx
  10. mate i too went out from kiama, with the so called 5knot winds predicted i thought i'd venture out, knew from the moment i hit the water the wind was a lot more than that. The only action we saw all day was the monster yft jump out of the water chasing what looked likea garfish. We were about 50mtr away but thats what it looked like.We trolled most of the day for zip, hopefully better weather this weekend
  11. Sorry guys i'm just learning to resize my photos, and have put an old photo in by mistake, the little marlin was caught up at s.w.r. earlier in the year,it tail wrapped it self and died it was a real shame as we released 2 earlier.I'll try and post the other photo
  12. hi guys, went fishing from Kiama today went out to the shelf, water wasn't bad at all,in fact it got better as the day went on.We decided to put lures out about 5km from the shelf and troll out,not a touch. So when we got there we trolled for about 1hr no luck so decided to cube ,about 20mins into cubing we got our 1st little fella about 5kgs,in the end we had three on board and a stripey. We thought the bigger ones aren't going to play so we headed in with our nice little feed.Cooking them on the barbie tonight

    Weather

Hi guys, just wondering were do i find the best weather report and most accurate.I'm looking at gining out to the shelf from Kiama on sunday and need a good report. thanx
  14. Nice fish there mako, i've been trying to get one of those suckers for a while.Just out of curiosity the boat your fishing from is that a seafarer, because it looks similar to mine

  16. It was great, my mate didn't think so,he couldn't get out of there quick enough
  17. hi guys, Sounds like the fin were up and down the coast yesterday, my mate and i were going to do a bit of snapper fishing we headed out from Port Kembla.Conditions were perfect on the water so after a little deliberation headed off for the canyons. Half way out ther we seen birds divebombing as we approached with lures out we seen dolphins smashing garfish great to see.We trolled for a while and had a little fin 8kg on board. Decided to keep going to the canyons in search of a bigger one, a couple of the dolphins decided to give us a guided path there they stayed with us for about 2kms it was great stuff. about 2kms off the canyons we put lures back out, we approach what we though was a dead dolphin floating on the surface as we approached it slow submerged, it was a GREAT WHITE SHARK !!!! ,big as the boat,it's dorsal fin looked as big as a boogie board with my mate shaking and telling me to get out of there as quickly as i can in quite colourful language we made it out to our spot. trolled for about 2hrs with no luck, decided to cube but with limited pillies only had two blocks. After around 1hr we had them in our trail, they were looking hungry, probably thinking these tight-arses dont like throwing too many pillies over.By the time we run out of pillies and NE started to roll in we had 2 more fin weighing 25kgs and our best a 32kg specimen. only got the one photo before battery run out, didnt matter though because the photo was of my mates ist fin only a baby but his second one 25kgs stretched him. Now he wants to go back this weekend!

  21. sounds like you had a great day,i hope my mate doesn't read your report he wanted me to take him off the heads on sunday but i told him we'll go and get some trev's in the bay instead.Well not a fish was kept which was disappointing which is made worse from hearing about the great day you had.congratulations anyway mate.

    Sharks

Mate,a friend and i were fishing the churchground at shellharbour.he had just finished stirring the burley pot when there was a splash at the back of the boat all of a sudden we had a 5ft mako swinging of my burley pot.while my mate was recovering from the shock i clipped a trace on and fed a livie over the side.I did this because i thought he was only a baby. 20mins and 8 jumps later he was at the boat ready for the gaff, but that was a different story. My only advice to you would be if anything bigger than 4.5 to5 ft takes a bait let him have it if you are fishing in a 14ft boat. Cheers
  23. thanks mate if weather good on the weekend were thinking of heading out
  24. Guy's,with the yellowfin getting about at the moment i was wondering if my boat is big enough to go there.I have a seafarer viking 18ft.I have a 115ltr. fuel tank. Outboard is a 115hp 2 stroke johnson 1998 model. How far is it exactly to Brown's. gps marks would be appreciated if you think my boat is big enough.
