  1. This has been a fantastic reliable little car since buying it new in 2001.

In that time I have only done the usual brakes, tyres, timing belt, fluid flushes/changes etc.

Car still has original clutch, driveshafts, alternator, radiator etc with 220psi in all cylinders.

Steering rack is just starting to tire and is weeping slightly so I ordered a brand new one for $145 delivered which ill change in the morning before work.

Moral of the story look after your cars and they will look after you no matter what brand.

    Cheers.

  2. Well the boys had to tease me again didn't they, by sending me these pics of there trip.

Was told they caught the snapper cubing with pillys in 30 meters and the marlin trolling a skirted lure.

    Well done guys.2ysy3u6y.jpgryga8e3y.jpgnu9e7y4y.jpg

  3. Thanks guy's, looks like a smaller longtail tuna to me.

Im not jealous at all to be honest, just glad they had a good time on there visit down here.

Like I said in one of my original posts I went to high school from year 7 to year 10 and quickly became good friends with these guys and their family.

I had lost contact with them for 24years up until I recently found them.

Just wish I could have seen my mates father again as he was always kind and generous to me as a teenager and they would all take the time out to invite you fishing and show you the ropes.

Sadly his father passed away 5years ago to the dreaded unoperable brain tumor I was told.

    Thanks again.

Have a safe trip guys.e3ume9ud.jpgim off to bed to sulk.

  5. The boys hit 12mile reef today and just sent me these on there way back to brisbane just to annoy me.

Apparently they'll stop in at coffs on there way.

Some people have all the fun.hu2yvesu.jpgy2a7ahuz.jpg

  6. When they get a tricep strain/tear from a previous injury, the tightly wrapped tape around the bicep helps stabilize the affected tendon/ligaments and thus aleviates the pressure on the affected injury.

  7. Just a quick report guys, the boys hit the marks again today using their arsenal of plastics for these fish.

Unfortunately I had to work so they thought they'll send me the pics.7y5une5y.jpghy4e5yvu.jpg

They were atleast nice enough to drop in and hand me a few and help empty my beer fridge.

    Enjoy.

  8. My darling Eva dressed and ready to roll for a night out in the city starting with Doyles for dinner and then latine4e7ebeq.jpg dancing to celebrate our Anniversary.

  9. Trout stalker, unfortunately neither.

Im the one taking the pics on my phone.

Bottom pic is my mate guyla and top is his younger brother christian.

There fish were the largest caught for the trip besides some smaller snapper and the usual leatherjackets.

  10. Excuse my ignorance guy's, but when it comes to plastics I have no idea what we used as im sure he had half the tacklestores plastics supply on board which made me dizzy just looking at them as im sure you guy's that use them would understand.

Me I fish bait in the estuaries and do alright the few times I get to have a fish and have only tried soft plastics and hardbodies a handful of times with varied results.

I find catching, rigging and chopping up bait a far more enjoyable experience, especially when I get home and ask the mrs for a cuddle and get told I stink.lol.

  11. Fished the five islands down wollongong on saturday with a mate from brisbane down here with his boat visiting myself and his family for these snapper and a few others using his heavy gear and plastics.

We use to go to school together here and haven't seen each other for over 20 years.

Back then I was taught by his father and himself how to fish as they would invite me and a mate to tag along fishing and would catch snapper and bream and even a tuna from windang island.

  12. I'll pass on the extra work thanks guys, I have work, work and more work that I can deal with at the moment.

Both my grandfather and father were fabricators in Uruguay which for those that don't know was/is a beautiful country but very poor one.

My dad would mark out circles, triangles etc with chalk when I was about 7 and make me run a continuous bead with an old Arc welder until I could do it without chalk.

Anyone that can do a free hand circle with stick welding has my respect as your a long way away from your work.

Using migs, etc is childs play in my opinion.

    Cheers.

  13. Had a mate of mine recommend me to do a welding job for a friend of his on the weekend just gone.

When he came over he asked if I was as good as what he had been told.

I asked him what car his wife drove and he said, an Audi.

I told him each circle i weld free hand on some scrap within 5mm out of round he gives me $100 bucks.

He told me it, s impossible.

Any way I left him and he's wife chatting with mine for 10mins and called him to have a look and gave him this.Posted ImageThe furthest I was out on one of the rings was 2.7mm.

After measuring I told him that would be $400 thanks and his face dropped.

He offered to give me the money but I declined.

  14. Thanks for the photos,

The posts, bases and the fixing look fine as does the bracing at the top of the post.

Any chance of a photo 90 deg to the left of the post shot , showing the end of the beam on the top of the post??

Also the span from post to post. ie front to back and the span from side to side would be nice as well.

Im happy to advise on the structural steel that I would use for the job

But any advice given needs to be confirmed by a structural engineer before construction.

PM me with the details if you wish

    cheers

    Bob.

  15. Personally I would make it free standing on heavy duty castors with brakes and dismantable making it completely mobile and independant of any existing structure.

Here's some materials that I have from projects that I would use.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

  16. I am just wondering if there is any product that you can spray on a galvanized trailer to further protect it from corrosion. For any electrical connections, the first thing I do is put on dielectric grease and it definitely helps protect against corrosion. Wheel bearings etc, keep greased. But for the general galvanized metal, I always see corrosion begin to form especially in the corners or areas where there are welds as this seems to be the place where salt water doesn't get rinsed off properly. Would be good if there was something I could spray in these areas.

Any photo's of what your dealing with?

  17. Keep in mind shackles are only as strong as the chains and attachment points used.

You can buy shackles/carabiners like these ones I have from places like whitworths/blackwoods etc.

Get ones rated higher than your bmt when fully loaded by a few hundred kg.

I prefer bow shackles, high tensile chain and strengthened anchor points on vechicles/trailers than the ones supplied.Posted Image

  18. Good onya mate, just today I got told a story of a work mate washing his rav 4 parked in the drivway of his home and noticing scum had been out last night and knocking of his nudge bar and spare off the tailgate.

Lets just say when he gets his new one no basxxxx will be getting it off as easily as they did after I tamper proof them for him.

    Be careful..

  19. Not to familiar with your pajero Paikea, but the removal of trim on most vehicles involves removing screws that are exposed or hidden under plugs in some cases.

Then working around the parimeter of the door trim locating the hidden clips holding the trim panel to the door and gently prying away.

Once pryed apart giving it a sharp hit on the bottom of the trim to dislodge the panel from the window channel to dislodge and the reverse on installation.

Without seeing what you have to work with, the cure around your problem with your spare hiting the trailer are many.

Perhaps you could elongate the existing mounting holes with a die grinder or rats tail file.

Make up a new plate and bolt or weld it to your existing mount with new mounting holes for spare drilled higher up raising your spare to the required height.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

  20. Try sugar soap diluted in warm water and give it a good going over with a soft bristled brush and sponge, it should help, otherwise you need something with a little more abrasivnes to it.

Toothpaste worked in with a damp rag will bring it back a fair bit followed by a wipe with 50/50 mix of thinners and transmission oil.

For those that were not aware the thinners and oil does a fantastic job on automotive tyres and getting the wax/polish of black trim.

I've used these methods for years.

    Cheers.

  21. Geez gianniz,I must confess the pictures are not mine, to be CLEAR they are IDEAS taken from the internet which I have modified as im a FIRM believer in not copying someone elses ideas.

Once again I apologise to anyone that may have been mislead.

Like I said before I think, I work in glass and building my aquarium SIMILAR to this was not a big deal.

    Cheers.
