  3. Hi guys, This is the damage caused by running engines with no lubrication. Doesn't matter whether it's your car, boat, power equipment etc the result will be the same. This is my neighbours mower that was run dry that im repairing.....damage done: Scored bore, piston, crankshaft, connecting rod, sump case. Always check and double check your fluids in everything that you own, especially after having them serviced by someone else. Sent from my GT-I8730T using Tapatalk

    Very costly mistake.

Verdict was head gasket failure due to overheating and a very expensive repair bill for this gentleman. Cheers. Sent from my GT-I8730T using Tapatalk
  5. Stopped to help another stranded motorist today after seeing him on the side of the road with steam pouring out of his engine bay. On inspection this is what I found. Sent from my GT-I8730T using Tapatalk
  6. I use these, they have replaceable stainless spikes and come in handy for the lawn too.
  7. Eucalyptus oil,Prepsol(wax&grease remover)work well also, just soak label with rag and remove label and residue.
  8. Get yourself one of the clear rego label holders,2 magnets and some stick on felt discs(sold in hardwares). Araldite 1 magnet to the label holder, stick on felt disc. Stick on felt disk to second magnet, place rego holder on inside of windscreen with felt facing windscreen and put other magnet on the outside of windscreen. No more scratches. Cheers.

    Sinkers

I have 100 kg of Lead shot(same used in bb,s and shotgun shells)My question is it suitable for sinker making?I have 10 bags at 10kg each.
  10. I'm with Leo, Led Lenser are high quality headlamps and torches made in Germany. I have the h5 headlamp and a p7 torch and haven't been able to fault them....they are pricey compared to the rubbish around but look after them and they will last you a lifetime. I got mine on special for about $90 bucks from memory for both but in my opinion it was money well spent. Cheers.
  11. If they can't remember something as simple as passing a oncoming vessel port to port,I'd hate to see them try to interpret all the signs and symbols on the waterways. Same goes to some of the clowns you encounter on our roadways. It just gets magnified during the holiday periods I think alot of these people forget to take their brains and common sense with them. Cheers.
  12. The best thing to do is stay calm, take a deep breath and think about what you did previously. If it was going into reverse before commencing then more than likely it's something you have done. Trust me, if you let yourself get all flustered you end up not thinking clearly and screw things up more. Did you have any of the linkages, throttle assembly dismantled? Did you lubricate cables, linkages etc while reassembling? Did you put everything back correctly without any parts left over? Did you try to put the engine in gear while engine was off and not spinning the prop at the same time? Has the gearbox got the correct grade and amount of oil? Have you adjusted your linkages on reassembly correctly? Without seeing your engine it's almost impossible to diagnose over a forum, but trust me your problem lies somewhere in the above. If your not sure what your doing take it to Huey or someone that knows what they are doing. Sorry I could not help more. Good luck.
  13. First off I would recommend you buy yourself a good quality accurate tyre air compressor and tyre gauge if you don't already own one. I never rely on service station ones for my car,s or boats as they are often very inaccurate and used and abused. Here's what to do: Have your boat fully fueled and loaded as if your going on your normal trip. Inflate your tyres to 50psi COLD PRESSURE in your driveway. Go for a drive down the freeway preferably for approx 30min. Come back and check your pressures again when the tyres are HOT they should have increased by NO MORE than 4psi,if HIGHER than 4psi they are under inflated and require more air,if they increased by LESS than 4psi you can drop the pressure a little. Cheers.

    Bloody wind

I've been home the last two days sick bored out of my brain, when suddenly while lying on the lounge I hear a loud crash...I thought bloody hell a tree just came down. I went outside to investigate and found this.a tree limb had come down and narrowly missed the fence with no damage done but a few branches and rubbish in the pool.Very lucky indeed, could have been replacing some fencing today.Just what I need being sick and all.
  15. Hi mate, First of all theft of property doesn't discriminate between young/old,rich/poor,or location. If there's scumbags about that want your property more than you, they'll find a way to relieve you of that possession. The only thing you can really do is secure your property using whatever means possible and being observant about your surroundings, hoping others do the same. Having said all that there is NOTHING on this planet that cannot be disarmed/bypassed with the right knowledge and equipment with some being easier than others. I've seen/heard on several ramps where boat owners have come back in to find these things: Whole car/trailer stolen. Trailer stolen. Spare tyre from boat/4wd stolen. Winch from 4wd/trailer stolen.
  16. Hi mate, Depending on the overall condition of your paintwork i.e thickness of paintwork, oxidisation etc there is numerous ways to go about it and several products that can be used. But be warned,a buffer in the wrong hands can easily burn through paint especially on edges leading to having to respray/blend in the area of damage which will become an expensive little exercise real quick taking into account the costs of 2k paints, primers, thinners etc. Having said all that pm me and I will give you some pointers on what to do. Cheers. Ex spraypainter/beater.
  17. Tilt them down on an angle so that the leading edge is even with and as close as possible to the roller to prevent your. Keel from being wedged between the guide and roller as your boat slides of the guide and onto the roller. You may need to adjust the heights of the cradle/s when doing this to get it right. Once you've done this don't worry if once the boat is on the trailer they are not touching the hull as they are only an aid to get the keel centered on the keel rollers on retrieval of your boat. Cheers.
  18. My quintrex 420 estuary angler weighs 550kg with 30hp,full tank of fuel and very little gear on trailer as per weigh bridge certificate. You'll be surprised how many of us are towing boats that weigh well beyond what we thought.
  19. Sorry to hear, At the rate this country is going we will have nothing left but many people without jobs. Next time I visit the pharmacy I will definitely be signing. All the best of luck. Fabian.

    Helping others.

Thanks guys, What I was trying to point out was that it doesn't take much time or effort to help someone out. Like the young guy on the train taking up a seat with the elderly frail lady standing beside him,or the single mum struggling with a few kids and pram trying to get up the stairs. I see the selfishness/rudeness everywhere in our society way to frequently and im sure most of you do too. With regards to the BBQ,my family will be attending on the weekend and I'll let you all know how it went. Just remember try to break down somewhere I can see you and I'll come to your aid.lol. The good Samaritan.

    Helping others.

You guessed it, On my way to work today I came across a motorist with a collapsed wheel bearing on his box trailer. After seeing everyone abuse him and driving by I couldn't leave the poor bugger there,so I pulled over and asked him if he needed a hand. He told me that he'd been there for a while with all that drove by cursing him and asked if I'd be kind enough to take a look to see if I could help as he doesn't have a mechanical bone in his little finger. I said sure, and after a quick inspection noting that what little grease that was left on the hub/spindle looked more like tar than grease and the bearings a beautiful shade of blue I knew that he needed some new bearings. So as I was a whole 5 min from home of to the shop (home) i went to get a pre packed bearing/ hub assembly to install on his trailer. I honestly thought that the end of the world was near taking 5 min out of my time to help some one out. Any way got back fitted new hub/tyre and the gentleman could not thank me enough and offered me some money that I point blank refused. He insisted that this coming weekend he is having a BBQ and would like me to attend to show he,s appreciation as he doesn't live to far from me and gave me he,s details. He asked me why I didn't take the money( he,d offered me 100 bucks) My response was the high I get from helping someone in need cannot be replaced by money and if we all took the time to help others in whatever way we can and stop being so selfish just maybe the world would be a better place. He left with a huge grin on his face and yelled out the window to make sure I turn up on the weekend. Who knows I may have made a new friend. It's times like this that sure beat worrying about redundancy. Cheers. Fabian.
  22. Mate I'll be looking at around 70-80k but it's not going to help if I don't have a job or I get paid less money an hour than I do now
  23. Hi everyone, The company I've been working for on afternoon shift for the last 15 years is closing down soon and offering redundancies to those that would like it and the rest of the staff will be transferred to one of our other factory's. It's been a great place to work with good pay and conditions. So far I've lost all overtime that has always been there. When the move happens afternoon shift and night shift is no longer as we will be working day shift. Once all these changes happen I've lost 30 to 40 k a year. My thoughts were initially take the money dump it on the mortgage which will still leave a hefty sum left to pay off and risk not finding a job or transfer over to the other site and struggle to pay the bills more than likely as I'm struggling now without the o/t. We are a family of three, myself, wife and one son. My wife working is not an option as she has a serious medical condition and hasn't been able to work for the last 12 years. Has anyone that's wiser than myself been in a similar situation how did your choice turn out. Any advice based on being made redundant would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Fabian.
  24. Another cause I forgot to mention is if looking from the rear of the trailer and the starboard side rear skid is higher than the port side as your boat comes up the trailer it will be pushed to port due to the higher starboard skid shifting the weight of the hull to port due to gravity.
