  1. Thanks all for the kind words. I think my son is ok, he kept talking about it most of the night but went to bed ok and slept through. I did report it to the police but they said without the witness been prepared to come forward there's little they can do. That been said I was very impressed with the police, even though they said they would loose they were still prepared to take him to court Hopefully my knee stops hurting after a hot shower and some pain killers and I can go out fishing!
  2. Today I have lost almost all my faith in humanity. This afternoon I was taking the young bloke for a fish (3yo) and launched at Revesby beach. After launching I was tying my boat to the jetty when a jet ski did a 360 right beside my boat spraying my self and my son (who was in the boat) with water. When I asked him why and did he realise there was a kid in the boat he swore and carried on as I am sure most can imagine. I walked away parking the car and when I came back he took a running jump onto the jetty pushing me off the jetty and onto the ramp. He then got in his car and fled. Another boatie did witness what happened but was reluctant to come forward as he feared reprisals. I am OK, a bit sore but nothing a few bears won't fix. What is really sad is people like my attacker that behave that way. I can not think of any reason why he attacked me, except perhaps for race, but even that is a long shot. I am very pleased I don;t have to live with that level of hate and such a volatile temper. Anyways, tight lines!

    Boat cover

Dad had a traliable cover made for his 12 foot tinnie for $400 and I had a canopy and clear sides made for my 14foot runabout for about $600, $1500 seems dear??
  4. My Boat is listed as having a Dihatsu outboard, have informed RMS 3 times and have now given up!
  5. Both my boat and my Dad's both have SI transducers. My boat still works at 40km/h (top speed) but my Dad's boat wont work above about 10km/h. I installed both and have never been able to figure out the difference.
  6. I might be a bit worried about various fittings parts ect in the botom of the boat getting salt water on them? give it a hose out and let it dry out as others have said
  7. The cable was about a metre too long, when I ordered it I gave the dealer the correct length using the formula to calculate it, he then claimed I gave him the length of the boat and he used the formula to arrive at an even longer cable, so the cable did do a loop under the dash. I am sure its the helm end that siezed as when I removed the old cable from the helm it was coated in what I would call 'rusty grease', i.e. grease that is the same color as rust and has bits of crap through it but the engine end only had clean grease with no signs of corosion at all. Also behind the dash is all the wiring for gauges & switches and there is no corosion on any of that. Anyway I got a non teleflex one of ebay for a lot less and will give that a try. I'll have to remember to grease it at the helm as well as the motor every 6 months or so.
  8. How long do you guys get out of your steering cables??? My Teleflex one is 4 years old and has siezed at the helm end (helm is fine, just the cable). I grease the motor end every 6 months but only greased the helm end when I installed it.
  9. From memory there's a place on south st rydalmere that makes trailers, might be worth a try?
  10. So my windscreen has a little bit of crazing right at the top. Is there anything I can do to stop it from getting any worse?
  11. As a dad to a 3yr old and a 1 yr old this is what I can tell you. Your wife and child will mostly want to sleep leaving you plenty of time to cook, clean and mabey fish. In the first 6 months your child will only want mum, so you should have plenty of spare time. That been said the fish ain't going anywhere but your child will only be small for a very short time. My son caught his first fish all on his own a few weeks ago and my daughter will be one on Wednesday, I honestly don't know where the time went. All been said I go fishing atleast once a week with my son and wouldn't have it any other way
  12. And here was I thinking I had just caught the hungriest two black fish in the river! I'll have to try drifting some cabbage over the area next time I go out
  13. So two weeks ago I caught a black fish trolling minnows close to shore on the georges river and today I got another one in the same area on a plastic while targeting flatties. Thing is I thought they were vegetarians and wouldn't take lures? Plus there is no weed anywhere near this spot???
  14. That is some awesome advice, can anyone one recommend some spots for squiding inside the georges river? Ideally from picnic point to the river mouth?
  15. When I purchased my current motor I got a 30hp Tohatsu tiller with electric start. I was able to buy a control box and loom and it all just fitted straight in. Control and steering cables can be had very cheaply on ebay
  16. The closest system that holds trout to the shire would be the wollondilly
  17. Thanks, I have just had a thought of rolling them up in a bit of plastic down pipe cabled tied under the gunwale. Where do you buy Plexus from? Whitworths came up but haven't they gone under?
  18. Thanks fells, those kevlar gloves look the go, might see if I can get a pair 4myson, might want to get that looked at, mine went in fairly deep and bled quite a lot but now 48 hours later only hurts if I press on it. I do understand that they have a mild toxin that they inject??
  19. Managed to snag an extra day off on Thursday so after doing house hold duties in the morning I headed out for a few hours down to the Georges between Picnic Point and Lugarno. Managed to get 6 fish in the boat, two bream two tailor and two flatties all on hardbodies and plastics. Both flatties were around 400 long so they came home for dinner, but my last fish, a flattie, deceided to extract revenge and stabbed me in the thumb while I tried to rescue him from my battery box (squirmy little bugger!) and it still hurts this morning! Now I know im a woss but what can I say! I noticed on a fishing show last night the host was wearing a cloth glove when handeling flatties but it looked like the spike would go straight through. Anyone got some suggestions for a gloce that is a bit more robust?? Cheers
  20. As the title says, I have side clears on my canopy and they are pretty grubby. Whats the best way to clean them without marking them and then how do you store them, roll em up? shove em under the seat etc Cheers guys and have a good easter!
  21. I have a single 95AH for my 40lb minn kota and it lasts about 4-6hours on and off positioning my boat along the shore line for spinning.
  22. Thanks everyone i got the soron with a spool of fire line
  23. The more I think about it, I only want a reel. I might look up the soron as it is to be matched to an abu rod. I have also been partial to diawa stuff but have been put of by the price in the last few years (I used to have a pro caster z which I thought was the bees knees), do they have any good value spin reels at the moment?
  24. Looking for a replacement reel about 2000 size. I mostly fish salt water estuaries for flathead and bream. Would spend up to $200, perhaps a bit more for a good combo. Cheers
  25. If your engine runs fine once you get it going, I doubt theres anything wrong with the engine. I can suggest varying the throttle opening and the choke setting. Don't assume full choke is required for a cold start, this may just flood the motor. Also I find that if you are cold starting and she fires but dosnt run, open the choke right up (disengage it) and try again. When its warm most engines will start fine with closed throttle and open choke
