  1. Mate i wouldn't know but send me a p.m if you find out. I don't mind a carp killing mission every now and then
  2. Hey thanks for the tips guys. I usually fish the rocks for them and just wanted to try and pick some nice candy sized ones before i hit the Kingies in the morning. Tks heaps for he tips though
  3. Hi Guys and Gals Anybody know of any spots to get squid near Gosford area, wanna try and pick some up for a morning King session but never tried in that area and don;t have the time to go exploring. Any help would be great, p.m me if you like. Yeeros
  4. Hi Guys and Gals Just wondering if any of you guys know if you need cleats at the ovens (inner and outer). Thinking about theading over there this weekend and just wanna know if i should bring em or not? Yeeros
  5. Hi Guys I Enjoy all sorts of fishing but i really really like LBG, only one problem though. None of my mates do LBG and they are rock phobic (too dangerous) except for one and he never has any time anymore on weekends cause he's a chef. So here it is, I can't be the only one in the same boat! (man i hope not) Somebody else out there has to have all the gear ready to go and be prepared to put in the hours catching bait, doing the hike and climb and doing the water changes! Anyway the 12th of May (weather permitting) i'm gonna go, alone if i must, but if somebody else is keen to go and soak a big live bait for most if not all the day then let me know. I'll probably be going to somewhere on the northern beaches area (after those pics in the reports area why not). Not sure where yet but i have a few spots to chose from.
  6. Guys they are really really top fish! Maybe i should be trying more on the northern ledges. I went out LBG on the eastern suburbs 2wks ago and all i managed was an 11kg giant cuttlefish on a baby live octopus. It tasted great though! Good work guys, i must say i'm extremely happy for you guys and just a litle bit jelous all at once
  7. Ohh well sounds like they are heading back north! Well still gonna throw out a livie and see what eats it. Still a few kings around i'm sure, at least i don't have to cast far for them Tks for the info guys
  8. Hi Guys and Gals Just wondering if any longtail tuna have been coming in off the rocks on the central coast lately? I've been fishing the eastern suburb a bit lately but not much coming in so i'm going to my fav ledges and wanna decide wether i should go arvo for Tuna or morning for Kings? What do you guys think?
  9. Top report guys Looks like you guys had a top time. Good luck on the next one and hope you have a healthy baby mate. Let us all know if its a boy or girl:) p.s the vids rock!
  10. Thats some great info Its always good to expand ones knowledge like that, I gotta say mate they really are something different.
  11. Hi Guys and Gals I got one of these guys on a live baby occie i had off the rocks on the weekend, decided to keep it and it tasted great i must say and many more meals left in it. I was wondering though, how long do they live for. I was under the impression they live for a year but my mate reckons no way it can be just a year old. So i thought i would put up a post and find out. What do you guys think?
  12. Yeah thanks for the info Netic. I'll give it a go and hopefully it'll work a bit better.
  13. Mate was that you that did a couple of laps around the can in the big blue boat today just after sunrise?
  14. Anyway i'm over testing my braid. At the end of the day i got 500m of it and i aint gonna change it in a hurry with a mortgage. As was mentioned before, just gonna make sure i don't push it above 15kg as well and i should be ok. Got better things to do the rest of this wk like getting my gear ready for the weekend rock trip to see if i can hook a nice hood and test it for real good luck to you all
  15. tried the palomar knot and i only got 15kg out of it. I also hurt my knuckle somehow and its bleeding and its gonna bruise as well and its my middle finger! so no more testing today, i'm gonna just watch tv or something safer than testing braid
  16. Just tested it again and got 20kg out of it??? I'm gonna try with the knots on here for braid and report back soon. stay tuned

    Stingrays

Mate you just described exactly the pain i went through! I got stung in the foot as well, i felt a tap and looked down and there was a gush of blood out the side of my leg. I put it in the water and it went murkey with all the blood and little fish came out and had a go at the blood so i took my leg out quick. so far so good i though as there wasn't much pain, then i started feeling a bit wheezy and i wasn't able to stand as i felt like i would faint. Then the pain started! The pain is kinda like when you get a spasm and cramp in your leg and it really really hurts like it's tearing muscle. Well imagine that over your hole body! I called the hospital and they said hot water and it was working, only problem was i was away from home and still at the ramp and my sister couldn't drive, we had to wait for one of her friends to pick us up and they took 4hrs to find the spot! not good! We then went to the medical centre and the doctor on duty had no idea what a stingray was, she said put some antiseptic on it and that is it. I had to demand to get a tetanus injection as she thought t was a little cut! Yeah a little cut about 4cm into my foot! Anyway i still have the scar and i'll show it to anybody that asks and i tell you know guys be carefull. I used to be very blazay about about rays, now i sh*t myself when i see em and cut em off with my heart pounding like crazy. Guys be carefull around em they can hurt like hell!
  18. I tied it with a locked half blood knot and used about 14turns to avoid it slipping. It broke of just on the knot and maybe that was the problem. Does anybody know of any knots specially made for braid as if that is what causes it to break below capacity i'll re-do the test. From what i see here it seems the light braid breaks over and the heavy braid breaks under the written capacity.
  19. Hi All I just purchased a shimano tyrnos and i got 80lb tera tuna or tuna tera put on it. I decided to test it out for myself as i gotta admit i thought you guys must be tying bad knots or something (i just paid over $100 for 500m, i had to justify it). I tied one end to a big swivel and another to a big snap, i got out the scales and pulled nice and slow, 16kg and snap! Tried again 15kg snap! Then again and again and again and again and the most i got was around 17kg! to say "not Happy Jan" is an understatement. I'm basically telling myself that i'm only going to run about 12kg drag so i should be ok but i wanted to be able to push the bar higher if i needed to. Thats why i got 80lb! Anyway i still havn't used the outfit in anger but soon, very soon we will see.
  20. Mate that sure is a watson's leaping bonito. Did anybody else get anything at clifton gardens?
  21. I got one of those big mayonaise buckets with a tight fitting lid on it and i put a small hole in it just big enough for the hose to go threw. I then made a clip for the aeroator on the side of the bucket (out of the way of the handle). That way no matter how bumpy the drive you get no leakage all. Ohh and as long as you don't overload the bucket you can keep about 15 x 10-15cm size yakkas alive all day as long as you don't pollute the water. I'll go take some pics of my bucket set up, it'll give me an excuse to install the software to get the pics from my phone to the computer. I'm very proud of my bucket, i also rigged up a measuring tape on the outside of the bucket that i can whip off and measure fish.
  22. I used a small live occie as bait once, you just put it under a float Damn good capture though, thats a big cobia and at night! Has ony one else ever heard of them being caught at night? I always assumed they are a daylight fish just like a kingie?
  23. I put my tackle in those shallow boxes and then put em in my bag. I just buy some sewing machine oil and give a good squirt into the different segments and give em a good shake, this coats the tackle and keeps em nice and shiny. I havn't had any probs and you only have to do it every few trips as well, and sewing machine oil is pretty cheap and i also use a few drops on my drags and keeps them running sweet as well
  24. Its cause when we fish LBG we plonk the baits right on top of the big ones Not that i have caught any monsters but it'll happen with my new tackle I got busted up bad on the central coast on 40lb braid on an eggbeater, now i have 80lb on a tyrnos and i'm out for revenge! I'm heading south though as the ledge i fish at Avoca is super crowded on weekends and i don't need the hassle. Next day off though i'm gonna try for a rematch with this thing

    Father & Son

In Cowan it should make it better as it is very deep and the salt water stayes on the bottom, if it looks really dirty just fish in about 6-10m of water and always cast toward the shore not in the middle of the creeks and you will do ok mate.
