  1. Legend Ben Top effort and i'm glad you got one up! you and Pete have put a massive effort in to get your results, Pete has posted many times on you know where about your results / lack of. Top work! When you hitting JB next mate?
  2. Ive seen 2 marlin lost to boats down south, ive had my drift run over once from boats, one of them the boat was no B.S 6m from the rocks! Ive had 2 mates lose 200m of line on big tuna drift due to blind boaties that couldn't see a 2ft diameter orange balloon 30m away from them! This then means they have to re-spool a 50W reel, $100, thanks heaps mr boatie! My opinion is if you come within range and i cast a raider over your spread and hook your lures and i accidently cut them off then thats just bad luck. If you walk out to me and ask nicely to see what we go through doing LBG i might give them back to you. You have the whole ocean in a boat, we have 200m square and maybe 1km if we hook up once a season! Nobody wants a war but be curtious, its very difficult when you have had no sleep keeping bait alive all night, been sleeping on a rock for a week, not had a shower, dealing with mozzies every night, lack of food, not much water, sunburn and some boat rocks up and drives over your drift that has taken you 1hr to get it where you want it! If you don't beleive what we go through on the rocks to get good fish then put your boots on, do some walking and come and have a look. Be considerate, i won't cast all the way to browns when the marlin are on, let the landbased guys have the 1km bit close to shore!
  3. For heavy leader i like the nail not the best and i also like the plaited double to double the line. As for balloons you won't usually need them for kings, but have a few different sized corks to do the job. I have hooked big kings on sorts of bait and usually only 3-6m from the rocks, but i also hooked one 100m out on a 1kg trevally as well! Unfortunately i can't tell you about landing them, ive been done by all the big kings i get. For some reason i havn't hooked kings from 5-15kg, all of em have been 5kg and under or 15-35kg go figure?? and the 15kg one i hooked on 15kg!
  4. Yeah thats the one, man i remember it taking the bait like it was yesterday! the dorsal 2ft high, the tail 3ft high out of the water and me just reacting and striking cause its a shark. It all became clear how big it was when it jumped and it was as long as my challenger and the maths started to click. mmmm mako mmmm big mako mmmmmm maybe 300+kg mako mmmmmmmm 24kg line LBG mmmmmmmmmm They fight pretty good too mmmmmmmmmmmmmm This is gonna hurt and could cost me all my line, ohh well better go to oerstrike lolololol
  5. I had to use the low gear on jaws that i hooked earlier this year hey grumpy. I couldn't move the damn thing it was so big. Tell you what, that jump is engraved in my memory and will be forever. BTK if your serious about LBG sharking and are thinking of doing it properly for 200kg-300kg sharks then i think you need an LBG game chair, 80W overhead reel with 1000m of 80lb line, lots of patience, big baits and if you do hook one you'll need mates around. Big sharks are dangerous, they are dangerous to fight on heavy gear, and dangerous to land. One other little tip, don't put a fixed gaff into a big shark, you will need a re-inforced flying gaff and you'll need to know how to use it.
  6. Nice shirt man! love it

IMO if you need to wait to be told when the fish are on you don't deserve to catch them. Go have a fish and when you get into them and nobody knows you'll have the patch to yourself Until people start talking that is, then you can have a spot in the car park. Personally i'de rather the spot to myself
  8. Mate i wouldn't gaff a shark like that with a gaff like that. Looks like all it would do is P him off.
  9. Put it in a big pot with some garlic, onion, tomato, salt and pepper get it boiling then add your carp and a rock When the rock goes soft, eat the rock

    Shark

Mate thats happenned to me before, I had a trev about 1kg on late last year and it got hit just as a whale swam past it. Ended up being a big kingie a bout 20kg. Damn 150lb went and looked like a knife cut even though i had the fish beat! Had me scratching my head and spewing for hours how it could happen, then it clicked! A yak went over my float about an hour before and they actually had to pull the trev up from around the keel, i thought it wouold be ok and as it was a top drift i left it, BAD MISTAKE! Must have had a nick that openned up just after i saw the fish, wish i never saw it, would have just called it for a small shark and moved on. Fishing gods can be cruel sometimes!!!!!

I got an 11inch re-inforced and i have an attachment so it hooks onto my cliff gaff as well. Send me a PM for your next attempt if you want and ill do my best to come down and help out.

    Shark

Mate long time no see, i bet you were running a 50 and got smashed hey Should have seen the mako i hooked down South on the 50! It took 700m and then woke up! No B.S the thing was 4m long and had me stitched up for 20mins before it bit me off and i was running about 12-13kg of drag on him! Might have to do some LBG Bull sharkin in the river.
  14. Mate that list fish you got isn't a yakka its a frigate.
  15. Ok i have a problem with all the posts above, first couple, well, why on earth would you let an octopus go, second of all, red wine is the go
  16. Guys i was just wondering how deep where the fish last week?
  17. Guys i wanted to put a post up here cause i think the importance of this new Marine Park warrants it to be posted in this area for all to see. Moderators i think it should be allowed here for some serious discussion amongst members of this site. First of all Marine parks up and down the coast have locked up the best fishing areas while effectively leaving us 80%of the desert water to fish in. Make no mistake that we are all being victimised by this and many of our favourite and most productive areas will be marked NO FISHING! Sanctuary zones are refered to as no EXPLOITATION zones! We need to organise and fight this or in a few years we might as well take up golf. I am hoping that ideas start to flow on this site from many members on how we can unite all fishing communities as WE are ALL in danger of losing our sport. Right now we are being held up by a small minority group that the politicians think are the voice of the people! We need to stop being the silent majority and start being the dominant voice in the use of our waterways. My idea is to email or send letters to the following people and let them know what you think of the new Marine Park. Get your friends and family involved, 50,000 emails and letters to all of these people can't be ignored. We all know at least 10 people that will support us, lets get them to help! Also feel free to send pictures of your kids fishing with smiles on their faces, no politician in his right mind would go agead with a proposal that will put a frown on the faces of kids! Right now we are being held up by a small minority group that the politicians think are the voice of the people! We need to stop being the silent majority and start being the dominant voice in the use of our waterways. Guys lets also keep this civil, we are all under a lot of stress from this but we need to be able to say in 5 years that WE did everything we could to stop this! We owe it to ourselves, our kids and our childrens children. LETS SHOW THEM WHAT WE CAN DO! Write to these guys and tell them what you think, don't swear and abuse them, keep your cool, be rational and make them hear you! And if they don't reply, SEND IT AGIN AND ASK FOR A REPLY! Let them know we arn't EVER going to go away, they are taking away our fun, our passion and our kids future fun and passion! 18. Depends which way the swell is from, if its from the east even a 1.4m swell can be dangerous. make sure you wear cleats there in all conditions! If you don't, WHEN you slip and hurt yourself remember that i told you so
  19. Guys i'm looking at getting a Flying Gaff head if anybody has one lying around they want to get rid off? If you do then please send me a p.m or post up here. Doesn't need to have the handle, in fact i would prefer it if it didn't as i'm going to be making a rather long LBG style flying gaff from it. Anyway let me know
  20. I report there will be a 3m swell and i wouldn;t be going off the rocks. As for the fishing I have no idea.
