  1. Have u checked the gap is correct for the spark plugs and that the leads are connected to the right plugs? The kill switch also? Fully prime it and have another go when u know the other things are ok. I wouldn't be venturing too far from land until u know it's more reliable. Good luck. Neil.
  2. Nice report mate and well done to ur son, too. Big Neil.
  3. Hello to those who attended the workshop at the weekend. Just an enquiry from the bush. I was unable to attend as it is a 4 day camel journey from my place to civilisation. Does anybody have any clues, tips, words of wisdom that they may want to pass on to an avid SP angler who rarely gets to use his skills? Big Neil
  4. Gr8 first report, well done on such a nice fish. Hope you catch many more and share the stories with fellow fishraiders. Cheers Neil.
  5. Good report Stu...some nice fish there. Gr8 to see anglers getting excited about their efforts and results...isn't that what fishing is all about? Neil.
  6. Well done Hayden and Dad...nice story. Cheers, Big Neil.
  7. Eastwood 1980, hope u get your Garfish mate, 'cos you're keen. Good onya. Plenty of time later for sleeping. Neil.
  8. Hey Scarab 36319, you need to lighten up a bit mate. There are many excellent fishos who are on this site and it's fantastic reading the reports (written with many different styles) and by people from many walks of life and ethnic background. THAT is what makes Australia and Australians GREAT. Chill out and enjoy the GOOD in this site...or maybe go elsewhere if it's not to your liking. Cheers, Neil.
  9. Well done mate and I can feel your excitement in your report. That's what fishing is all about. Keep the reports coming. Neil.
  10. After a nice week in Sydney, without wetting a line, I was keen to get down to the Murrumbidgee and check it out. Now, when I was working, I always had a policy of getting the crap sorted early in the week...so that the rest of the week was an improvement (in theory anyway). So I made my dental appointment for first thing Monday morning, to have a few fillings done. I decided to visit some of the tracks that follow the river on my way back home and found some excellent holes along the steep banks of the river. I lobbed in 2 lines and within 10 minutes had 2 very healthy Murray Cod of 52 and 56 cms. Bit of a struggle getting them in but managed and released both for another day. Quiet after that so moved down a bit and got a few more of the green fish from the next spot. Lost a bit of gear among the sticks (normal) and headed home for lunch, as my jaw was starting to get some feeling back and I was starving. Moral to the story... there's always fishing to improve a crappy day. Neil.
  11. Used to go up to SWR every July when I lived in Sydney and we always caught heaps of fish. Just got back home (on Friday) from a week in Caringbah but never managed to wet a line. Such is life... Big Neil.
  12. Well done TC, don't mind fresh Tailor myself. I was in Bondi Junction on Tuesday and just got back home a few hours ago. Big Neil.
  13. What a lovely gesture Chocolate. Good onya mate...and good on all our Diggers.
  14. Nice fish there and some happy fishos too. Neil.
  15. Hey Boattart, many thanks for your kind offer...alas I'll be heading back home on the Friday. Cheers, Neil.
  16. Hi Fellow fishraiders. Is there anybody willing to let me join them so that I can catch my first Dollie or Kingie? I am visiting relos in Sydney and could be available on Sun 20th, Wed23rd or Thurs 24th April. Naturally I would pay my way. Presently I live inland and fish for Murray Cod and Yellowbelly and seldom get to the coast. I will be staying in Caringbah. I have a decent boat rod which I've used for big snapper and other reef species. Hope somebody can help me get a kingie. Cheers, Neil. .
  17. G'day Jacko, I can't really help with specific spots as such but would offer some encouragement, instead. There's tonnes of "bread and butter" fish in any of the estuaries...so my advice would be to study up on a few target species like bream and flathead. Learn where they hang out and what baits /lures /soft plastics to use and put some time in on the water. Pay attention to tide movement and I'm sure you will start to get results. From there you will just get better and catch them more frequently. Good luck, Big Neil.
  18. Well done, good report. No doubt you'll do it again. Big Neil.
  19. kts350, can't help you with locations in Sydney but don't be disheartened. Fishing is about getting out there and having a bit of fun with your mates. Go to the area you have in mind but plan the trip round the tides and use baits for flatties, bream, etc. I'm sure you and your nephew will have fun and catch some fish. Just do it! Good luck. Big Neil.

    Narooma

Narooma is good fishing both inshore and offshore. The estuary has good fishing using soft plastics /vibes or bait. Good water out to sea from either Narooma or Bermagui but don't risk ur tinnie from Narooma...the bar is notoriously dangerous. Haven't beach fished there but with some beach worms and pilchards you should be able to get whiting, bream ,tailor or salmon from the beaches if you find a decent gutter and use berley. Good luck, Big Neil. Also a very good boat ramp there.
