  1. Thing is Mondo at least they are claiming to review the situation. I listened to Debnam speak a while back on the issue and although in true poli form would not commit to totally opposing marine parks he did state the implementation process is unjust and would be stopped until further notice. It would be unrealistic to expect any political party to totally oppose it but they are not far from that. I will still vote for them because at the very least they are offering an opposing view of the current practice, whether they will follow through remains to be seen. One things for sure voting Labour will undoubtably bring on the parks. Its the lesser of two evils perhaps.
  2. I went for Evinrude that being the ETEC. Very very good motors. Least fav is Mercury. Just dont like them. Never have, never will. Totally understand the Tohatsu running last after Bisso being absolutely screwed. I wouldnt buy one of them out of principal. Tohatsu just dont give a stuff do they.
  3. Just for the sake of discussion, although the displacement is higher on the Suzi's they are still all 90hp engines although with differing torque curves and pwerbands. 4 strokes by nature require extra displacement to get the same power as a lower displacement 2 stroke due to its design characteristics. The 2 st should be much hotter out of the hole. The comparible ETEC is also about 50kg lighter and is the only negative with the Suzi's. Dont get me wrong the Suzi 4 st is without doubt the pick of the 4 strokes. Geez I own a 60 4st Johno which if anyone didnt know is a rebaged Suzuki and I looooove it ! Im just pointing out that each motor has its good points, and the decision should be based on application and what you want to do. For eg skiing really is better on a 2 st due to the acceleration response the two st gives. Both motors mentioned are first class either way. Discussions on 4's and 2's always and up in a specification pissing contest. Horses for courses I say ! After all your original question was not about which brand but what size and if at the end of the day your not sure, just go with the biggest you can either afford or fit and you wont be dissapointed.
  4. I would say the 90 would be fine especially if you go ETEC which I highly recommend. Even at 700 kg it will still fly. Saying that if your unsure go the bigger motor it cant hurt ! If your gunnna pulls kids on tubes or ski's stick with a 2 stroke which is why i say go ETEC. ENJOY !
  5. Great thread ! Gotta love a bit of drama Actually ive enjoyed reading Sweeps posts, its rare that you get marine park advocates willing to post on fishing forums. I still do oppose Marine Parks simply because in my opinion they are a last resort measure that has been implemeted up front based on politically motivated purposes. I still do, and always have, failed to see how banning rec fishing in certain areas protects biodivirsity. I can understand the banning of commercial practices, but line fishign as well ? If its fish stocks they are worried about why not start by adjusting bag limits first and /or start by removed the pro's and seeing how it comes back ? They wont. You know why ? Cause the greens are only interested in locking up the whole coast end of story. Unfortunatley they are convincing a lot of fringe groups and genuine supporters of conservation that this is the only way. Procecting biodivirsity and fish stocks I fully support but the philosyphy behind these parks just doesnt make sense !
  6. Although your claim was specifically against the Dealer and the importer who underwrites the warranty, I doubt the dealer had much say in the matter other than to help the importer defend the claim. The dealer gets paid either way the decision goes, he is just doing the repair. Of course thats not to say they could have been more helpfull to you from the start ! Would you have had a different result if you bought it from a different dealer ? Me thinks not. Dealers cop a lot of flack at times ( deservedly so sometimes ) but it is the manufacturers who decided what is warranty and what is not and the dealers can get caught in the middle. Like I said though some dealers probably dont do enough to support their customers in times of need. And no, i dont work for a marine dealer !

    New Boat

Mate you wont be dissapointed ! They truly are the best all round boat ive ever been in.
  8. Damn shame Bisso. You know heinsight is a wonderfull thing isnt it. It would have been interesting to hear their response had you responded to the quote by the manufacturer regarding the warning buzzer, as follows : As per the English language dictionary : "Warning An intimation, threat, or sign of impending danger or evil. Advice to beware. Counsel to desist from a specified undesirable course of action. A cautionary or deterrent example. Something, such as a signal, that warns. " If Tohatsu engineers speak the English language their arguement is lost if they choose to use the word 'warning'. One can not argue the point that if they themselves have labelled it a "warning buzzer" and by defenition they are at fault. Although he said it should not be there, well it is there and called a warning buzzer. Unfortunatley or fortunately its a game of words at the CTTT. Many cases area decided upon on such minor details.
  9. You cant go wrong with a MKII Fishabout, great old boat. I had one for a long time and it served me well. Took it as far as Montague Island ( on a good day ). The bloke who owned it before me used it as a dive charter boat and went to the island regularly. Like Netic said check the motor, its more likely to be an issue rather than the hull.
  10. Its amazing how many times these hearings end at concilliation. Its an unfortunate lesson learnt too. They never hear the case straight up and most people dont know that. If you did it is more likely that you would settle out of court or be prepared for the long haul. One thing with the CTTT is that they really push for a concilliation result which is why they seem to drag it out for so long cause most people just cant wait. They therefore settle for a less than desirable result just to get it over and done with as they had gone ther to get a result. My gut feeling is that perhaps the Member would have been a bit kinder cause in my experience they tend to dislike missleading manuals and tend to go with common sense. Problem is like you say you would have to wait another 3 months to find out. Sorry you only got a crappy deal, no doubt the dealer is happy. Its a stressfull time at the CTTT.
  11. Hey Bisso, Sounds like a bugger of a time. Can I ask a few questions just out of curiosity? When you say you have been to the tribunal, are you refering to the CTTT ? If so did you go through through the conciliation proccess or was the matter head by the Member ? Was there any compromise solutions discussed ? Cheers

    Battery Charger

Hey Mitch, I run a seperate deep cycle 120 AO battery for the leccie and use a Projecta 2.5 amp slow charger with auto cut off. Its the size of two smoke packets and i just hook it up and charge the battery the day before use. It takes about 12 hours to charge but the battery lasts all day no probs. Sometime i take the battey right out for charging and other times i take the charger to the boat. If you run a deep cycle battery dont charge it off the motor cause it will drastically shorten the battery life of a deep cycle. Cheers
  13. Dont know the year Johno. I found these specs from a dealer add on the net - cant find it again either ! The boat was the Caprice model though, could have been an older one too. The definatley got a bit wider as the model got newer. It does highlight the fact that there looks to be some minor specification differences between the age and model varients in which case you should probably get the exact measurement of the actual boat your interested in and go with that to be 100% sure. That model ran for a while so it stands to reason there would be some upgrades. With the brake issue make sure you take into consideration 60kg for a tank of fuel and maybe 50kg for gear. You would be suprised how much a fully loaded boat can weigh in reality verses what the added up specs say. There are a shit load of boats out their on the wrong trailers. The last boat i bought was a new boat - on the wrong trailer sitting in the yard. Very common. I had it swapped with no dramas. Put it over a weigh bridge if your unsure. Good luck
  14. Here are some specs for you mate. The Millenium Hull has only been around since the mid late 90s i think. Easy way to tell is by simply looking at the hull and seeing if it looks like this. Dont confuse the millenium hull with the flared bow which quinies have always had on models from 4.5m and up. SPECIFICATIONS Length overall 4.93m Topsides 1.6mm Max hp 60hp Lenght bow-transom 4.75m Bottomsides 3.0mm Transom Shaft L/S Beam 2.02m Weight 360 kg No of people 5 Depth 1.17m Runabout Flared bow RECOMMENDED Horsepower 50 Trailer QS47L Garage height 1.95m Lenght on trailer (motor down) 5.85m

    Engine Probs

This alone raises suspision to the history of this motor. Luckily they are very easy to fix and it sounds like some minor issues only. This complaint was common on these things years ago and was never more than an adjustment or minor repair ( most of the time ) Hope it works out
  16. Arsholes... On the plus side its more than likely your insurance payout is worth more than the car knowing what they are worth on the open wholesale market at the moment. Probably better not to get it back. May have done you a favour ! Gotta look on the plus side mate

    Live Bait Tank

Cutting a big dirty hole in a glass boat is always a scary job. Martin is on the money i reckon just make sure its sealed up nicely. Sikaflex is pretty hardcore stuff and exy too, i have just used a good marine sealant in the past and never had a drama. Make sure you use a large overflow too, many people go way too small.
  18. Mate its bloody fantastic ! It has taken me forever to finish it off with options but its all done. Just need to get up that creek !!!!
  19. You know how jealous I am now ! From what ive heard the odd Black will show up at this time of year and is not that uncommen. Nice fish Jethro ! Me and a mate pulled a couple of Blackies from F & S a few weeks back too.

    Members Boats.

Here is a pic of the new boat. Bought as an old stocker and spent the last three months getting up to speed. Had a live well built and installed it the other day. Still got a few trailer mods left but its pretty fishable now. 60hp 4 st EFI on the back. Nice motor but faarrking heavy. Boat is a 475 Ally Craft Shadow Oasis. Here is a pic of the inside where I mounted the well.

    Dont Like Carpet

This may sound nuts, and i havent done it, but have you thought of using marine carpet upside down ? Its quite soft underfoot without too much fuzziness. Very grippy and looks good. Just a thought. Otherwise marine anti slip painted straight onto the floor.
  22. Onya Clutch, another quality thread mate !!
  23. Gday Ilk, Your right, marine parks are not the best answer. They are not the start to rectifying the situation they are the end of rec fishing in some of our favourite spots. I agree fish stocks in some areas could be a lot better and if thats the case why not look at reduced bag limits, slot size limits or no anchor zones etc ( to protect weed beds etc ). Marine parks are the final and last resort only not reallt the first step. Dont forget the main reasoning behind them is politicaly motivated and not in the best interest of fish stocks. Im sure others have a better take on this but its just a labour voting scam to get green support. They really do a great job making these parks sound like the greatest thing out but forget to give you the fine print. Not being able to walk your dog on the beach for example, tell me that makes sense. Love to see that happen too mate ! I can tell you though that neither of the major gov parties will ever support it. The belief is that if pro's were gone, black market fisho's would just take thier place and it would be 'un-policable' and we would be worse off. That may actually have some cred as their are some nut jobs out there who would do that. Still agree with the sentiment though. Will always keep pushing for more RFH's though. Good on you for going !!
  24. Happened to me yesterday. n-o-w i-m r-u-n-n-i-n-g a-t d-i-a-l u-p s-p-e-e-d ! Bring on tommorrow, 1st of the month! Mind you im only on 400MB plan. You blokes blowing several gigs are downloading too many dodgy movies !!! Shame on you - perverts ! :wank:
  25. It certainly keeps me away from my work during the day. Spend all bloody day reading posts and not doing what im supposed to be doing. Been here for nearly two years and the sight has certainly evolved into something great. Something for every type of fisho. Cheers
