  3. Morning all, Headed out to narrabeen beach last night as it looked like one of those nights where the stars would align in my favour but how wrong I was..left home about 7:30 headed to the tackle shop to grab some bait..$20 of hawkesbury squid, a 1kg bag of iqf pillies, some snelled gang hook rigs, some tuna oil, two loaves of white bread and a redbull to wash it all down and off to the beach it was..as my mate and I carried all 6 rods over the dune to the beach we were met with howling winds to the face and some pretty rough surf but after travelling all the way and buying all the bait and lugging it all up the dune at the northern end near the lakes entrance it was time to at least have a go.. My new live liner was setup with two ball sinkers and a triple gang with a whole pilly on it and was sent out into the darkness only to get dragged up the beach and washed ashore..much like everything else we threw out.. The structure of the beach has changed a lot I think but it looked like no one was catching anything either.. Again I'm a beach fishing noob so if anyone has any recommendations of another spot and or rig I should try that would be much appreciated. The other rigs I used were paternosters one with a single 4/0 suicide hook and the other with two 3/0 penetrator hooks but not even a bite for the whole night we pulled stumps at about 11 and headed home with some bait to put in the freezer Tight lines Reubs

  7. Mate, that is an awesome land based catch! I'm more than jealous, dying to get out for a fish! Keep up the good work fellas Tight lines Reubs
  8. Top going there mate I'll have to bring the old boat up the coast and head out with you boys for a flick!
  9. Ive fished there before but the bottom is quite snaggy and you lose a bit of gear, its not the cleanest of spots sometimes either, Ive taken a couple of bags of someone else's rubbish out of there with me before. I did unload a bunch of bait that I was finished with for the day there before squid, pilchards, prawns....didnt get any bites while I was there on any of the baits though... I think you'd have better luck in a beach gutter just quietly, the fish are clean, no snags, you dont have to use heavy beach gear...I often just cast a small plastic into the surf off my 2-4kilo 7ft rod with 2000 reel 1/4 to 1/2 oz head on 6lb braid / 8lb fluoro leader.... I hooked up to a solid 2.5 kilo salmon up at palm beach a few months back.. my 2c but if you are heading to mooney mooney let us know how you go Reubs
  10. Definitely will Scratchie! Cheers mate, I forgot about the bridge to bridge aswel but the harbour did turn out to be a brilliant day Reubs

  13. Hey all, headed out from rose bay at about 5:30am and headed to shark island there was a bit of surface action and had to stop because the boat was playing funny games and blowing a heap of smoke.. When I swapped the tank over it seemed to disappear though so hopefully was just a dodgy mix...anywho couldn't tempt a bite casting just about everything at the bust up...didn't have any livies either unfortunately...ended up hanging around there for a while as the throttle started screaming at me so while I fixed that my mate got to work fishing unweighted bits of pilly and soon had a healthy 33cm trev onboard..ended up hanging around there for about 2 hours for 3 trevs to 35cm...picked up 2 more passengers at about 8 and headed back to the island where there were still schools of kingies busting up but would not go for any plastics, metals or assortment of hard bodies I threw at them which was quite disappointing...so keen to test my new live liner we anchored up and launched a pilly out on the new rig..it started to run after about 15 mins so I clicked it into gear and it was game on..had a 9yr old onboard so let him bring it in with a bit of assistance and boated a nice eel...not my cup of tea but I know a family that would appreciate it so it was kept for them.. Moved around a bit..off camp cove..then to Clifton gardens where I managed to find 3squidlets 2 were used as picker bait :| and one was lost in a flurry of excitement from the young bloke onboard...we sat out half an hour of rain under the Bimini with some lines soaking bait but not much interest other than baby snapper...we anchored up in another spot back on the rose bay side and raised a few small blue morwongs which was really cool and they were safely sent back to their watery homes. I managed to hook the wreck just of Clarke Island...the good thing was it was a good test of my knots which didn't fail got my new dragonfly sounder onboard which was pretty awesome to use I really like it though anything is better than the old lowrance x47 I had which was not up to much at all... Anyone know what the kingies are feeding on?! I was really hoping to get some hits on light gear and have a bit of fun.. Tight lines Reubs
  14. Nice work on the Jews mate I'll have to tag along sometime! Reubs

  17. planning on heading out tomorrow but with all this rain im slightly concerned that pittwater will be washed out.. would i be better heading to the harbour? or just staying home :/
  18. Hehe at least people read these posts shoulda got a pic of the damn thing for a positive ID it had bright red fins was a darkish brown colour with lighter lateral lines and a bluish tinge to its scales in the light... No idea what it actually was I'll admit that....feel free to share some better boat based fishing spots on the parra/harbour with me...just got a new sounder and keen to get over some structure for a good look Tight lines Reubs
  19. Went down to woolwich again armed with some hawkesbury prawns and caught 1 miserable 10cm redfin perch...i didnt think they were around but apparently they are.. looked like there were some garfish about but no hookups on anything Reubs
  20. G'day raiders, Looking to head out this Saturday as always can't decide where but also don't really know my way around or the right times to fish any part of these waterways properly so if anyone is also heading out this weekend and is ok with a tag along, 4 of us will be heading out in my boat somewhere...really want to get onto some kings though Reubs
  21. Actually I want to head out on the boat this weekend to test my new dragonfly sounder...but also the boss wants to come out on the boat..I would like to hit the harbour but don't know my way around for fishing...if anyone is willing to have a tag along pm me please
  22. After a couple of weekends indoors I decided it was time to prep the gear and head out for a bit hoping to catch something just for fun at least! I recently purchased 2x penn bait runner equivalents with matching rods but have yet had a chance to christen them..Saturday had clouds about all day and no rain so about 2 hours before the high tide I decided it was time to head down to woolwich and have a go..when I got there I was greeted by a dark cloud a little ways off so I jumped out of the car and not long after setting foot on the wharf down came the rain in buckets! I thought I would brave the conditions so I grabbed a torch and had a quick look in the water..visibility wasn't too bad and I could see quite a few 5cm size fish about and saw a big flash of a fish flank under the bridge..threw on a soft plastic and let it drop to the bottom..SNAG on the first cast..re rigged and threw on a little shallow diving minnow hard body for no love..then with the headlamp I spotted a garfish hanging below the surface so I cast out and lined it up and hit it side on with my lure on the retrieve..much to my dismay it startled it and did not much else and that's all she wrote for the fishing trip as I was now soaking wet with nothin to show.. Also someone left their scissors down there so if they are yours let me know otherwise free scissors for me
  23. Nice work on the blacks Trev, we'll have to come out with you again and christen a reel!
