  1. I also lost a rod and reel last week on the public holiday fishing in pittwater....one of my trusty 7footers and a large beach reel jumped straight out of the holder on the boat while i was fighting a bronzie.. seems there is a bit of tackle on the loose around the place at the moment! good work on the bream and pike though. reubs

  3. Thanks guys will be taking my CEO and his 9yr old out on Monday on the boat heading to pittwater but may venture to Cowan creek...will see how we go I suppose I've just decked the boat out with some rod holders and a bait board which will clear alot of clutter with a bit of luck
  4. Hey Raiders, Its been a busy couple of weeks but with a few fishing stops thrown in here and there its been fun, disappointing and frustrating all in the one bag. For starters I was down at a wharf on the parra river not far from the gladesville bridge just having a flick with some plastics around high tide, caught a couple of undersize tailor which went straight back in the drink, another bloke at the wharf caught a few of the same, butterflied it and threw it out with some hooks in it and landed a 5kilo Jew! I must admit I really wanted to join in his illegal fishing technique but persisted to throw out a large 5inch shad into the darkness for nothing.. it did get me fired up and ready to get onto some fish myself so after a tip off from the bait shop I headed up the central coast loaded up with some snap frozen squidlets and a bag of servo prawns and in the darkness of the night trekked over the sand dune on the soft white stuff and setup a friend who hadn't caught anything before...She did quite well bagging 6 legal bream 28-33cm and not one but 2 soapies one going 47 the other going 55. I single handedly landed the smallest bream of the day at 26cm :|. My bad luck streak hasnt ended just yet but infact started a few weeks prior when a mate and myself spent the night out in middle harbour, he caught a trag, snapper and a bream and I went home with ZIP! even after forking out for fuel and bait. I had thurs and friday off last week so decided to do an overnighter on the central coast hoping to bag a few for the table, tried the entrance beach for nothing but seaweed and my fishing buddy hooked a nice big toadie. We moved around to a few different beaches the first being the one at norah head boat ramp where we soaked some baits for no hits at all.. moved around to a little further north where there was a carpark and had a nap until the sun came out.. On sunrise we hit the water and were ready to get our game on.. but alas there were no fish..I remember seeing one single fish doing a couple of leaps out of the water within casting distance but no such luck was to be mine.. once the swell and the waves started to pick up and it was a bit rough for the beach we headed to the rocks at norah head and fished off the northside where there is a nice dropoff with a few other people already there before us. A couple of blokes were fishing for blackies but I didnt see any downs or witness any fish landed by him. Another bloke hooked onto a salmon using chicken for bait but lost it at the rock edge. I had a few followers on my zman plastic retrieved high in the water column but no luck with a hookup. thats all for now folks hopefully the winds of change hit this weekend! Reubs
  5. Nice one fellas, those striped tuna look amazing.. I will need to get one into my boat! meanwhile if you need an extra volunteer to be on deck give me a yell
  6. Nice snapper mate!! Sharks are often a by catch when jewwin, I hooked a 1.5ish metre shark just the other day up at pittwater...I was just soaking pillies on gang at the time though but after a bit of a fight and a direction change the hooks were all gone
  7. That's a fantastic first Jew! Congratulations and I'm sure it won't be the last one you catch!
  8. Mate that bream is a bit legendary! Top effort!
  9. Nice catch trev! Met and I will have to head out with you again for a rock sesh sometime! Reubs
  10. all the good fish must still be at the dawn service from earlier this week.. I was out on thurs all day with a similar result, couple of bites here and there but no hookups on anything decent. still sounded like a fun day out though Reubs

    Kings on fly

I really hope this wasn't in the harbour...but if it was we may need to exchange a few pm's as I can't locate the kings
  13. G'day Raiders, Took the new boat out on the harbour today for a bit of a different experience and to get used to busy times etc. me and 3 other boys onboard, finally rewired the boat so everything is switched and fused which is great and its no longer a deathtrap . In any event, 89 dollars at RTM, 110 dollars at bcf, 35 dollars on a 2kg block of pillies and 400grams of prawns (EXTORTION!!!) from the servo and 2 hours of sleep later I was out ofthe driveway this morning with the boys at 4:30am and on our way to rose bay. Got to the boatramp and it wasnt too busy....turned around and there was about 20 rigs behind us! got our launch on and with the plan to hit sow and pigs and see what all the fuss is about headed to camp cove to try and raise some live baits...after about 30 mins of nothing on peeled prawn or plastics or squid jigs decided to head over to sow and pigs....get there try to anchor up but the anchor chain doesnt seem to be heavy enough.. so were just drifting at a slowed pace heading straight towards the shallow stuff, 1st cast and one of the boys has snagged up my 15lb braid rod and snaps the line....mad dog.... couldnt get a good anchor and at the same time there was nothing at all showing on the sounder. and we were in all of about 5-7 metres of water....I'm sure I'm missing something but I had no idea what technique I should employ if any at S&P and quickly running out of ideas decide to head to one of the wedding cakes....still couldnt hold anchor and drifted off the spot fairly quickly with the last of the run out. No surface schools, no birds diving, I was pretty sure all the fish were at the dawn service and today was quickly becoming one of those days. Headed over towards chowder bay and anchored up close to the cliffs, started flicking plastics around, a couple of investigations on the plastic (zman grubz in bloodworm) with no takers, the other boys trying their luck with small hooks and baits and landed a couple of small snapper, couple of small trevally, still nothing legal for a livey, then on a tiny suicidal hook and freshly peeled servo prawn one of the boys brings up a fanbellied jacket, followed soon after by another and another and a then a horseshoe jacket....I still hadnt caught anything....got bored of that moved to the rocks near clifton gardens where there was once again no one home, figured it sucked because we were casting towards rocks that we could fish from is we were land based and then we were just reeling in the opposite direction....fail....move around to bradleys head to have a crack...ended up have some grainwave sandwiches for lack of food we took onboard haha... fed the fish some bread...accepted challenge to catch bream on bread, caught a snapper, failed miserably. Went for a cruise through the harbour, headed to darling harbour, turned around headed to goat island to find the mystical deep holes that exist there...couldnt find them...anchored up near the pylons for a flick....for nothing.. So with the sun beating down, 3 jackets in the esky, a tank and a half of fuel down and a few layers of clothing less than when we left the ramp this morning it was time to head in......Clearly I have no idea what I'm doing in the harbour and couldn't find anything worth catching today....maybe the bombers flying overhead were scaring all the fish away....but where did they scare them away to? I have no idea because I couldn't find any (this is my plea for help navigating the harbour) Tighter lines than mine! Reubs
  14. A friend of mine and myself were fishing off a beach, me with a whole fresh cuttle on 4/0's and my mate with servo prawn on a store bought whiting rig...and we picked up a 60-65cm Jew each...right place at the right time I reckon...I still think it was a pretty good fluke haha
  15. Hey dave I'm keen to head up the northern beaches on weekends ... Let me know when you're heading out and ill try t something up? Reubs
  16. Nice catch Trev! I didn't know red bellies frequented middle harbour haha
  17. The little pickers do grow up!
  18. Mate that is a fantastic haul of squid! I will have to track down your boat and follow you around one day Reubs
  19. Quality effort and quality report keep up the good work fellas!
  20. Nice jew! gotta love fishing the northern beaches such a nice spot of the world . Reubs
  21. Thanks fellas, Im not gonna lie it is a super comfortable boat to fish from, my mate and I headed out on it and with just the two of us there was HEAPS of space. At one point we had all the rods on board rigged and out in the water soaking and sat back on the seats with the feet up on a tackle box or esky and it was pretty much the best thing in the world. Cant wait to get out again tight lines Reubs
  22. The weeks and days of waiting to pick up my latest purchase were finally over and after a couple of hiccups at the boat ramp I was finally on the water! Saturday morning we were at the boat ramp a little after sun up and after picking the boat up on friday afternoon we thought it might be a good idea to try and fire it up before putting it in the water.. sounds sensible right? apparently not.. the engine wouldn't fire and soon enough there was no life left in the battery....unhitched it from the 4x4 and got the jumper leads out and let it sit and charge for a bit...then with all that frustration I thought we've come this far I need to at least test launch this boat and we'll go from there...in the drink it went and a couple of turns of the key later she roared into life and we were ready for action...it was now at least an hour and a half after I wanted to be on the water and the sun was in full swing.. no sign of bust ups so we thought we'd head to Lion Island just for kicks to see how the new boat handled.. Halfway across the channel there was a bit of swell about so we bailed on that idea and headed to west head..anchored up and fished but only caught a baby snapper which quickly went back in. We moved around to the next beach in pittwater and has a flick around a weedbed with some SP's and landed a pike which went about 45cm...not much else was about so moved to another spot and still not much happening....saw a bust up happening not too far away so motored over to it and anchored up....out went a white paddletail YUM towards the commotion and on came a nice little mack tuna.. they are such a good looking fish .. Today much less drama at the ramp and its fantastic having the large boat because I can keep everything in it from home rather than in the car and then throw it in at the ramp. The Hawkesbury was on the cards today, launched at the ramp just to the left of the northbound side of the F3, motored around and stopped at the pylons next to the rail bridge and threw plastics at it on the shady side, today we werent on the water till midday which was a bit lousy for fishing.. not even an inquiry at the pylons, motored around to the entrance of berowra creek and had a fish for a bit... boated a small tailor that was sent back...moved to juno point but the swell was a bit hairy and the boat doesnt have a sounder yet which makes me a litte sad... so not having fished the hawkesbury before there was nothing taken home for a feed. We had a stop by near an oyster lease but again no hits... sounds like I need a few pointers..if anyone is keep to help a fellow raider out please let me know or if you see me around say hi Reubs
  23. That's a good effort mate! Give that king a couple of weeks and it'll be legal and waiting to smash your line again tight lines!
