  1. Thanks for your input fellas, went out yesterday and found the taylor are around in plague numbers!! Not good for sp fisherman Nearly bit through my 50lb trace the bastards!! The jewfish hunt will continue next week.. Mii11x - hope to crack my first from the georges next time, Ive heard so much about patterns regarding their feeding habits around the big tides! Filthmonger - isnt the cooks dirty? Even though the jews move around heaps, they would pick up toxins the baitfish have? Cheers John
  2. Hi Tony, we were drifting directly over the kelp close to shore, it was about 10 feet deep mate. Ive been back 2 more times since for zip so the move around alot! Cheers, John.
  3. Definitely not a bad thing santo! Hows the fishing the hacking mate?
  4. Hey richie, yea being around full moon should make them more active..I think the week after is good also. I saw aeroguards post afew days ago with a stonker.. I hope to pull one out like that one day!!
  5. Gday raiders, plans are to hit the bay this friday and just wondering if anyone has had success on the jewies? Bait vs sp? Thanks in advance, John.
  6. Congratulations mate!! been watching your posts and it was only a matter of time!
  7. mate you could reach them of a concrete platform, there was a guy casting from there when we were there, i believe you can park on prince of wales drive and walk down to the water (google maps it). if theres none around i guess you could give la perouse a go as well.
  8. On the Boat zaki, early morning in yarra bay right off the kelp, and round towra. But they are everywhere in the bay atm, where ever we threw plastics they were there to chomp em up haha.
  9. Gday raiders After hearing reports of squid in the bay, I hit the water with my best mate to try catch him his first squid. He showed me up in the end, finished up with 18 and they wern't fussy with jig colours either. Getting back out there tomorrow to get that bag limit!! Tight lines!
  10. hey buddy, i havent fished lb from this spot but it looks pretty fishy for flathead, jews and bream too..fig tree bridge. theres a grassy area right next to the bridge where the water drops to about 7 meters..
  11. hi aero, u still caught your species like jew stalker said..well done. i'm looking in trying this myself, do you look for marks or just fish the holes? John.
  12. hey arthur, last two times i've been fishing around lane cove i've picked up a 35 and 40cm snapper. pretty keen to get back out there and go for the hattrick!

  16. Top stuff buddy! Im looking into hooking into afew of these fellas soon, if you dont mind me asking did you pick him up on a drop?
  17. Cheers boys, houdini - would have been good to watch ye? I dropped a good size taylor also.. would have been a couple of kilos..can't believe they would chew through 30lbs without too much trouble. Iv'e got to get me some big circle hooks! Sargerx8 - Can't wait to get back out there..I used a chrome blade mate, let it sink half way and retrieved relatively quickly. They were spitting out whitebait in the tank too, bout an inch long so that size lure would work perfect.
  18. G'day raiders, just a quick report on today's trip. Headed to a spot in the mouth of the Lane Cove River at sunrise in hope of bream for dinner. Used salted pillies and taylor fillets..first catch was a fat bream..then all went quiet. While I was pouring myself a cuppa my light rod with the taylor fillet started screaming! i called a jew. After a quick tussle up came a pb Snapper for the harbour measuring 40 cm, couldn't believe my eyes Moved further up the river around Gladesville and spun up some taylor. Quickly live baited them and poured another cuppa. Half an hour passed when my baitrunner had a quick run then stopped..brought it in and the the taylor was chomped just before the hook..spewing! Threw out a big fillet and crossed my fingers. About 10 minutes later the same thing happened..brought it in and my hooks were gone Picked up a couple decent flatties and called it a day. Anyone want to shine some of light on this?? Are sharks commonly caught as by-catch to jewies in this area? Thanks Raiders, John.
