  1. Gday raiders, Quick report from today, started the morning targeting flatties then searched for bream on chicken breast. Struggled for a while as every spot held pesky pinkies but manage to find them eventually. Was consistent until the top of the tide..amazing how quickly they shut down once the run stops! Cheers john
  2. Ive read to also trim the tail of the yakka as dory swim quite slow
  3. Hi paikea, did you pick that kingy up at the same spot? Solid catch!
  4. Hi stevefish, I drop most mid fight. Quite afew just before the boat as well . Using 8lb braid 10lb leader. The fish which drop the lure straight away jump back on quicksmart haha.
  5. Thanks for everyone's input!! I appreciate everything said. Chewie and witha.. I always make an effort to plant the hook hard but will focus on it more! Jameshanna.. lately ive been changing jigs every so often and it definitely helps having a sharp hook! Like others have mentioned, it can be very frustrating when you've dropped a dozen fish on a trip and only come home with a few . Troutboy I will be trying this next trip!
  6. Gday Raiders Of late I've been dropping way too many flathead for my liking on plastics. I have tried backing off the drag, keeping constant tension, allowing the fish several seconds to take the plastic and babying the fish to the boat but the buggers still manage to shake the hook. I'm having serious thoughts about a tracer hook; have many people had better luck with this? Any suggestions? Regards, John,
  7. will definitely try anchoring next time, thanks for the tip mate!
  8. I meant 1.8 like you said you use, by the time you cast ahead of the boat and let it sink, wouldnt you already have drifted over your lure?
  9. Quick question sydneyfisher12, Do you still use such a light jig to fish water depths eg. 4-5 meters? The lightest ive used is 2.5 and sometimes I feel thats too light as it hangs in midwater ..I must be doing something wrong
  10. Pump nippers at sandringham and you will have whiting at your feet in ankle deep water. Its always talked about fishing those areas as they rummage through turned up sand.

  17. I havent had a problem with 10lb black magic , i use it also..hasnt let me down sp fishing. Even if the lures been swallowed. However always check ur leader for nicks near the hook.. If its a bigger fish you tend to nurse it anyway, gl for next time mate!
