  1. Thanks guys, Got a few promising trips planned for this week so hopefully will have a part 3 to add haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi raiders! Looking forward to some good summer sessions in the kayak and I'm sure there will be se Sydney siders that make the trip up over the holiday period. Will be getting a sounder put in over Christmas myself and thought I'd see if there's any experienced brisbane water yak fishers that could show me a thing or two. Hopefully we could get a bit of aixed crowd and make a day of it. Feel free to shoot me a message or post your thoughts. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks mate. Haven't had a crack off the rocks for a while, mostly due to the lack of adequate safety gear haha. Not complaining with a good fish in just about every session but would like to see some better quality species or size for a good fight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. G'day Raiders, Thought I'd post another instalment of fishing activity from the land around the central coast. Didn't get into the estuaries much this week. Managed to pump some nippers and drown them down at wagstaffe for a some pinkies. Got out with the usual partner in crime on the weekend, Belligero. Poor bugger got smoked by a large something that took him some wicked runs before breaking off in some snags in shallower water...Dam!!! Got myself a nice flatty in the same session going for 55cm on a 5inch jerk shad. Next morning hit the beach solo for another little flatty, this one measured in around the 45cm mark and partnered up with its estuary dwelling relative for dinner. Monday, day before the full moon and a dusk high tide. Time for the beach. Similar patterns to the last report emerged when we hooked up! Managed to drag the other half to the beach for a fish so I definitely owed her the first catch. Handed the rod over and she didn't disappoint bringing in another shovel nose! High fives all around and due to a lack of preparation we ran out of bait soon after. Headed home with some promising signs coming into the full moon. Which brings me to tonight. Much harder to find the deep water on the beach tonight with very unclear channels and gutters. Must of been in the right place at the right time and dragged the little guy seen below. He looked like a hybrid between a port jackson and a gummy, never seen a shark like him. Anyone know the species. I'm pretty confident someone here has caught one before. Either way he swam free and I called it a night 30 mins after the tide change. My biggest question at the point is where on earth did the salmon schools go? Do they go quiet over winter? Cheers Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've been keeping to the land recently. I've heard paddys channel harbours quite a few. Every time I go out in the yak on brisbane water all I can see if weed and oyster leases haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks Steve, Might shoot you a message one arvo for a beach session or entrance flats. Heaps of fish around at the moment. Catching all the other species and non of the ones I'm actually targeting. At least it's not quiet. Will have another weeks report to add soon. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hey mate. Fished woy woy bridge with a pilchard tail for the bream. Fished the run out tide near the stairs and floated the bait from the traffic pylon and hooked up just under the pedestrian bridge. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. They sure are. Been a pretty good few weeks fishing and ticked off a lot of new species. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. About 70cm mark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Let's add a shovelnose in the mix. Caught it last night at avoca with a whole yellowtail (small one). Great fight ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks mate, will have a look for these and pick a few that look dangerous haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Definitely gotta try some blades. I hear nothing but good things and ways love looking new species. Any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah those small fish I caught off the beach all chewed away at a pilchard on a gang hook while I was looking for salmon. Hoping to bring up a nice mulloway soon so will probably battle a few of those flatties again soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hi all, Just thought if update some of the last weeks activities and fish bagged. Have been trying the beaches recently with a good mix. My local at avoca has turned out 4 flathead, all small around the 30cm mark, a good Taylor and bream. Also got completely smoked here one night, about 15 mins after the tide change was when the bite fired up. Would love to know what took my gear the other night Found nothing but stingrays over at Norah Head, saw one about the size of a family car in the shallows down here too! Was amazing to watch it cruising through the clear water. Also went and saw some old friends on at Hubert Island and spent the afternoon pumping yabbies and fishing in the backyard. Found some nice Sole and Whiting. Mixed it up last night and tried some brisbane water estuary fishing with two good bream, the biggest of which gave 40cm a nudge. Unfortunately this is the only photo of the last couple of weeks but it was the only with any size and came home for the plate. Here comes summer. Can't wait for some more good fish to come ashore! Thanks mate, Seeing them hit the surface was just too much to resist. I had to drop a few casts in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

    Patonga Beach

What do you mean BIGGER.....Ray said that one went around 85cm...Not many people catch many bigger than that. That's true, great fish to catch. I was more referring to salmon schools or jewies, sharks that kind of department. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

    Patonga Beach

Yeah thanks guys. I did see Rays post and searched for others but was hoping to see some bigger fish roaming the grounds. The area looks irresistible for some flattys. Could be a fun session, might head that way for one soon. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  19. Hey mate, Land based at night you can try any of the wharves with some light. Use a bread, pilchard and water mix with a sabiki rig (can find them for 2 bucks in most tackle shops) and just fish with a light float and pilchard bits. Might get a few pesky Taylor but might lick out with a slimey and a good haul of yakka's. Punt bridge in erina definitely has some around and after today's rain if you fish a run out tide there should be some jewies waiting to ambush the masses of small fish that wash down the creeks. Jump on google maps and look for some likely structures near river openings and you should be on the right track... At least that's what I'm hoping for... 20. Hi Raiders, Looks like the warm water is starting to get the fish moving and a few good reports posted. Just wondering if anyone has fished Patonga Beach and know what species to target, best times to try and tips to get the fish going? Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  21. Thanks scratchie. I'll look into the app, always wondered if someone was going to develop such an app. I've been sticking to the idea of structure and bait fish around but do need to go exploring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  22. Hi Krew, My first post in this section of the forum and was hoping to catch some advice from experienced kayak fishers. Only having recently got my hands on a my first yak the first fee trips out we're more about getting comfortable and everything right without much luck with the little fishing attempted... That's all come good and the results shown over the weekend with 2 good eps and a 55cm flat head caught and released. I went to this area as it is one of my preferred locations to target Mulloway from the land by casting soft plastics into the bridge structure. So far I have not had any luck landing the target species. What I wanted help with was to identify some ideal spots to fish from yaks for jewies. I've only gone back to those I know and have fished from land. I don't have a sounder and was wondering if there was a way to spot deep holes and other ideal environments for the beasts. 23. Nice. SA fishing would make sense. They do look quite similar. Agreed scratchie, would love to see it rising to surface on the end of my line. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  24. Anyone seen this pic? My other half saw it on a Facebook page for SA fishing. Caption had it weighing in at 72kg, not sure if it makes that mark but still an amazing fish. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I used a z man swimmer 4 inch using two slow jerks up and a good pause after winding in the slack. Cast into bait shows and surface bites for the eps and into the pylons and let it sink right down for the crocs. Shaun was using a different kind of zman plastic with a similar technic for his two flat head.I think blades will work well but never tried them myself. Fished the same area with a mate who used a blade, it got smashed strait away but didn't hook up, using light line that broke off and cost him the lure.
