Thanks guys, we will no doubt get onto one each by the end of the year. The surface action with the eps was great though, had to stop casting at them to try and get around the structure where the mulloway would have been. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. Hey raiders, Headed out tonight with Belligero to find a mulloway on soft plastics. Figured if throw the Kayak on the car and fish a bit more comfortably from the water rather than land as there is limited space where we targeted. First cast... Bang! In for a great fight which turned out to be a great EP Let him swim off and was at it again a few casts later with a smaller Perch. Kept targeting the pylons from the yak while Belligero managed to land a pair of flat head which were both put back. Just as the tide turned I pulled in a flat head of my own which turned out to be quite a good size. Mine went into the keepers net to be curried by my Malaysian Chef Neighbours. Happy with my first 3 fish in the yak! Photos aren't great and we didn't get the mulloway we were looking for. No doubt we will be at it again this weekend with the full moon though. 3. Agreed, great to see the size and bag limits change. Here's to a speedy recovery! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  4. Hi team! Hope you've all been having some luck this spring. Just wanted to see if any raiders out there have heard of using a peg to hold the line with a live bait when fishing from land around bridges. A few people around this area have mentioned that it's done here frequently to catch some good size jewies. I've had a crack at my own version but I know it's not right. How is it done properly? How do you get the livie to stay deeper without snagging? Is there a better alternative? Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  5. Like wise man, will get the lip grips soon, they're worked into the budget. Was a shock to catch one there. Usually am able to get them on plastics. Found they hit a 3inch grub pretty hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  6. Hi raiders, Found a great spot with Belligero to fish for out first mulloway. Loaded with live baits - prawns, squid(can't seem to catch them) tailor, pike, slimey mackerel, yellow tail. Have tried it a few times now and will probably be down there this weekend . Have found fishing the runout tide is better for catching the yakka's/mackerel to use as livies, get them set and toss a few lures around. Have caught some good flathead from this spot on small plastics. Every time we are there we see about half a dozen long toms terrorising the area and surface. Had a yellow tail tonight go ballistic and get me excited, likely just a long tom spooking it. My other half was spying from the bridge and described to me what sounded like a 70 odd cm Jewie come after the live bait and then plunge back down to the bottom just after the bait went wild. Are these good signs? Are we in the right area? What have been good techniques for areas like this from the shore? Thanks for the help guys! Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. Hi all, Just got back from a new favorite spot for bait fish. Managed to find dozens of what I was looking for and set a live Yakke hoping for a big Jewie. Ended up keeping 2 slimey mackerel and 3 yakka's for the weekend to throw off Avoca rocks for some fun (fingers crossed). Let plenty more go, but had the ultra light gear buckle and the float disappear only 2 feet away from me. First thought was I'd hooked one of the long toms that had been on the hunt by accident. Got it in and was delighted to see far fewer teeth and a quality EP. Detangled the six hooks and net and let her (I think) go free after some happy snaps. No mulloway tonight but am not sure if the long toms and EPs present mean it would be less likely to produce the goods. What a smile she had! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  8. We could dead set have a big enough trip that some bait/tackle combination would catch one and maybe a few other good fish.
  9. Hi all, Just though I'd share some of the luck fellow raider Belligero and I have had over the last few weeks. After chatting on the site we finally met up and went for a fish together on the central coast. Giving each other tips and advice we've managed to have se great nights out with plenty of good fish caught. Still chasing our first Jewies we've managed to catch Shaun's first salmon, my first gummy shark both off the beach and tried a variety of ways to get some good estuary species including my PB bream (42cm) Being on summer! It's gonna be a great season after such a promising last. 6 weeks. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  10. Hey mate, magenta beach has produced lately, caught a good gummy and salmon there just the other week. Talk is of plenty of sharks and Jews being taken from there too. With that said I did try up there the other day and the swell was an absolute mess, best bet would be to fish and hour each side of the high tide. Gatts
  11. Nice catch fellas. You obviously don't struggle to find them. Yet to land my first and have some free days now. Are they equally as hard to find during the days as they seem to be at night? One again top effort! Gatts
  12. If we don't have any luck there we can try for some squid or yellow tail off the rocks at avoca
  13. Hey mate, there's always plenty of mullet to be had in erina creek. They come further down the creek with some heavy rain. I had a flick in there yesterday for some flathead but only managed to attract the ducks and what looked like some big mullet Have a peek on google maps and see if there's some easy access a bit further up the creek to try.
  14. Hey team! Just joined the Yak Crew myself but haven't had an abundance of luck... Might have a bash at some of the great suggestions above! Hope to see you all on the water. Gatts
  15. Hey mate, Thanks for the reply. If you're looking to get some tricks I've got a few for a general fish off the beach. I mostly fish Avoca with a pretty good success rate. Haven't gone out in the last 3 months without at least one landed. If you ever want to catch up and have a fish send me through a message. I'd like to chase a big Mulloway off the beach in summer. The more the merrier! If there's someone on the coast with a bit more experience than us hopefully we can all head out for some of the big fish action. Gatts
  16. And I managed to see some of the choice selections. It's a brilliant area to live. I took a couple of great snaps of the sunset just after you left Ray. As always another great catch
  17. Hi team, Super keen to catch a Big Jewie off the Central Coast Beaches. Is there any raiders that would be open to an extra pair of hands on a trip out? Happy to assist with baits and gear wherever I can. Gatts
  18. Hi Raiders! It's been a while, a new job and its 75 hour commitments each week had me away from fishing for some time. Fortunately I've decided life is far too short to waste it working and sleep, expessially if I could be fishing!! I've been catching a few salmon off the beach and the usual suspects in the estuaries and have just got myself my first Kayak. Keen as mustard to get amount it and was throwing it out there to see if there is any raiders with Yaks on the coast that would be after se company on the occasional trip. Look forward to heading from you. Happy fishing! Gatts
  19. That's a remarkable amount of bait inside one salmon!! What are those little guys they were feasting on? Would of been a fun day! Great catch.

    Best tides

Likewise Ian. I'll be around the coast trying a couple of new spots on the tides and dammit I'll find a mulloway somewhere. My money is on me trying to catch something cometely different and landing a Jew unexpectedly... Maybe I'll try that tactic

I actually have a family friend that lives right near Roseville station so might be able to tee something up there... I've seen the Roseville area mentioned donzens of times. What is it that makes it so special?

Haha I'll settle for any Jewie. Yet to see one on the end of the line. Roseville may just well be a go but for me that's a weekend trip as I live and work on the central coast.

Sounds good, I'll be at it again tonight without registering a bite yesterday. Wish I knew where the deeper holes were near the bridge and just sit a bait in it. Trial and error I suppose. Thanks guys

    Best tides

Thanks again Tom, not sure where I had read it but had hear bigger tides were the go. I'm mainly aiming for Jews on soft plastics as I don't have the right gear for live baits. I will find one sooner or later haha
