  1. That's a bummer since it's avoca on the central coast, near the entrance haha not to worry!
  2. Good plan. I think I just scheduled in my Sunday activities
  3. This one might be a long shot for a good bream but the rubbish bin barge near Scotland island used to have some monsters hanging around. If it's calm water an unweight nipper or a soft plastic should do the trick
  4. Hey guys! Thanks for the tips! I'm from avoca zaki. If you know anythig close an the best way to get after them that would be great!! Gatts
  5. Where will you be launching from norm? There's a little bay not far from bobbin head that's alive with activity! My old man And I always made it our first stop on a day out as we could get up on the beachy area for nippers and anchor up for baits, anything from yakkas, mullet, gars, small tailor... Saw a few big rays and even found a blue swimmer which we scooped up in a bucket haha. Don't know what it's called but from memory it's just about opposite looking glass bay. Mind you this was about 5 years ago we were last there... Good luck hope it's a cracking day! Gatts
  6. Sounds good. I'll bet gang hooks go alright as well? Next salmon is going I. The freezer instead of the Malaysian restaurant haha. Thanks mate
  7. Hi team, Looking for some pointers as to where I can find some squid on the central coast. I'm land based and have looked at some areas around davistown but no luck. Want to start chasing them for both bait and dinner. Got all the gear, not 100% on the best way to use it though... Any spots and advice would be great! Thanks, Gatts
  8. Had a bit of a sticky nose around the coast for a couple of promising Jew spots. Can't wait for this ugly weather to pass to go have a crack at them!

  9. G'day all! After catching a nice salmon off the beach during the week I heard a rumor that a bit of salmon on a circle hook would be a very attractive bait for gummy sharks and maybe some other species too. I'll be fishing off the central coast and wondering if this or anything similar has worked for other fisho's in the area? Heard good stories from Victoria with this method but haven't seen much on this site about gummy sharks from the central coast. Would love to catch a few if they do come this way so any tips to catch them land based would be awesome. Thanks guys, Gatts
  10. Sounds like a good day! Nice catch! Which area were you fishing?
  11. About that, didn't actually put a tape measure on it. Was great fun though, only the second one I caught, makes me want to get after some more
  12. Hello again Everyone, Thought I'd Share some of the fun I had today with my delightful Partner and her 3 year old daughter. We've been living on the Central Coast together now for a few months and her daughter is always excited about coming to visit "Mummy at the Beach." We decided we would send her back with some fishing stories so this morning we set off for Hardy's Bay, having sucesfully found Whiting there in the past. It didnt take long for our spot to deliver with half a dozen whiting. Chantell and I hooked up for young Izzy to real in her first fish. This was just as exciting for us as it was for her! Later in the day, after a nap of course, we headed down to the beach for your standard afternoon of Sand Castles and sea shell collecting. I Figured it coudln't hurt to take a Surf Rod with me...Just in case. Again, we didn't have to wait long before we heard a Run and we were on! Call me selfish, but this fish was mine haha! After a good fun fight, and even some jumping in the shallower water, we walked away with a nice Salmon and another great story for Izzy to take back to Nanny and Poppy. Salmon was caught on a flathead fillet as I was having trouble getting a Pilchard to stay on in the surf, and it was at no particular time of the tide. Sadly, the hungry bugger all but digested my hooks too so getting another cast into the rest of the school wasn't an option. Non the less, we traded the Salmon for a massive bag of Prawn Chips at a local Malaysian resturant and had a great day!! Hope you all have a great week, and find plenty of fish! Gatts
  13. Hey mate, I had a similar question not long ago. Here's the URL for the responses I got. I went with the gulp prawns and squidgy wrigglers. Both seem to work on a fairly slow action in the winter months, managed both bream and flat head, land based in the central coast. Still going after a jewfish with te 3" prawn so will keep you posted with other results Gatts http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=64387&pid=451575&st=0entry451575
  14. Hey mate, I'm new to the coast to, as mentioned in a previous post, I'm stuck land based but feel free to get in touch if you're looking for a fishing buddy
  15. Will do shaun, might be heading out again soon, I am land based though
  16. Shattered! Sorry to hear that mate.
  17. Great! Thanks for the tip guys. Well done again on the top catch!
  18. I did notice half tide rocks was close by. I've been meaning to go have a fish from both spots, I'll bet they get plenty of action in the warmer months!
  19. Thanks gav, I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I find any Gatts
  20. On the central coast near pretty beach... Around the corner from hardy's bay
  21. Hey everyone! Hope you're all having a good week. I was just wondering if anyone could give me the thumbs up on the ferry warf over in wagstaffe? I've been getting around with google maps and found the warf on the satellite... Travelled over there to have a sticky nose and it looked quite promising. I'm hoping to head over there one night soon to try for a Jewfish. Has anyone had any luck there in the past? Also the water looked quite deep, not sure of that's a good or bad sign haha! Any help is appreciated! Thanks Gatts
  22. Wish I had a boat haha, can't wait for the warmer months ahead, I'll be on the beach/rocks getting after those kings! Good luck mate!
  23. Nice fish mate! Is a jewfish a regular thing on lures? I'm just starting to get into chasing them and would love to have a crack at as many techniques and combinations to find my preferred choice!
