  1. i have heard that there are and also that there are not bass in narrabeen lake can i have a few other peoples oppinion and where should i have a crack at them if they are there cause i am looking for a spot more reliable than LCR cheers, Fletcher PS: i have already read the narrabeen fishraider articale
  2. the only thing with braid is that it's not IGFA rated so if your looking for records or get a record fish or whatever you will have so problems you also have more chance of pulling the hooks on fish anyway thats just my 2 cents oh and the TLD 50 2 speed would be perfect
  3. 9/0s are fine (well for stripies anyway) tailor im not so sure about though, but for salmon and kings there fine tricking them up with an extra stinger hook would be good if the fish are smaller and only nipping the end of the lure not to sure about trebles but i would think the may tangle or get caught it the skirts
  4. my parents went a fair while back (before i was born) and got 1 striped tuna out of a whole days charteer maybe fiji isn't all its cracked up to be
  5. well no squid no kings and no snapper but plenty of flatties biggest going 4.750 kg thanks for the help guys
  6. nope going up from broken bay ..... can't launch our boat anywhere i wasn't really thinking much of getting bait more just catching a big squid
  7. i am heading up to terrigal to try for the kings and snapper (and other tasty things ) and wanted to know how do i catch squid whilst out there as i have heard a few reports of some big fellas around is it just a matter of putting a decent sized jig onto a paternoster rig ?
  8. possibable heading up to terrigal to get into some snapper kings and other reffies also some marlin if there around and try our luck at the FAD i just hope that the sea's stay ok
  9. well the line was caught around the tip of the rod so i untwisted it from around the tip and snap i wasn't bending it to far or anything that i hadn't done before and it broke ..... i just hope they sell replacment top halfs for this rod
  10. the 2nd jewie only a better pic my favourite rod broken i hope i can get a replacment top half or fix it
  11. well as promised here are the pics jewie number 2 jewie number 1 jewie number 3 yes i do look like and idiot in the pics but i was excited gotta love fishing cowan
  12. i dont write reports all that often but i thought this was a special occasion we went down the boat friday night and came home at 8:00 tonight on Friday i tried for a few squid and got one put it out as a livie and got smashed by tailor so decided to head inside and watch a DVD instead on saturday thing really got interesting. we went into the mud flats to try and get some squid at the drop off but nothing, although we did get a numbfish and a few hits on the SP, we headed back to the boat and put some large baits out for jewies got taken by a moray eel and into the rocks put a small bit of tuna and droped it down to to see what was about ..... heaps of tailor ranging from tiny little 20cm guys up to big 50cm guys ..... had a ball with them for a few hours (didn't keep any) and then i had something different on ..... i wasn't sure what it was but it put up a great fight ..... then to my suprise my first jewie pops up although only small i didn't care it was my first ! after that i got onto some flounder, more tailor, bream, small snapper, yellowtail and rays ..... as night came the tailor kept coming and so did the squid there where literally hundereds swimming in and out of the spotlight ..... we caught 17 small bait size ones and 4 larger good eating size one ..... we stayed up till 1:30 in the morning sight casting them but they where hard to get in between getting squid i was still getting tailor and another small jew and another ray and more tailor and just as i was about to go to bed ..... another small jew ! ..... WHAT A NIGHT ! on sunday the tailor where still around so i decided to head into the flats i got whiting, bream and flatties on the SP and thats my weekend ! one of the better fishing trips in a while and i also snapped my favourite rod!! pictures to come tommorrow morning
  13. is the noise sort of like a grinding type noise when the handel turns ? if so my symetre has been doing that for a while aswell and is driving me crazy
  14. just some clever work from a taxidermist. It was once a baboons scull.I found a whole articale about it and how he made it a while back ill see if i can find it for you guys
  15. i had the exacpt same problem when i started out i ended up cutting just over 50 yards off the spool cause of tangels ..... i was also told not to fill the spool up so much (even though the tackle shop spooled it for me) and every few cast check that you have no stray loops or anything on on they 10-15th cast out alot further and wind under tention
  16. big ray or shovelnose ..... they turn there bodies against the direction of the force and as the have a large bodie the spreadm out it makes them extremly hard to get to the turn and get to the surface could have been a snag ..... i fought a "fish" for 10 min until my line snapper and only a 1 hook and a sinker came back but missing the other hook ..... damn current makes it feel like a fish running
  17. depending on how far offshore you want to head, the Stacer Sunfisher 455 will be good aslong as the sea's arn't rough (if you are looking at haeding offshore alot then i would suggest a bigger boat), for the bass and bream , whack a electric motor on the front and you'll have one awsome boat, one other thing i dont think power boats are allowed in the freshwater side of Lane Cove we have an old Haines Hunter V16R that handels offshore well and if we get an electric bow mount put on it would also be perfect for the stuff you are looking at fishing, just my suggestions
  18. put a lure that you want on the line (heavyish ones are better to start with) then turn the centrifugal braking system knob until your lure takes line and hits the ground but does not overrun and create a birds nest. now try casting (you wont be able to get a heap of distance yet but you will shortly) and practise using your thumb to stop the spool. Once you can do a full cast without getting a birdsnest loosen the centrifugal braking system knob so the line will come off more easy, you will eventually be able to cast a good distance without getting a birdsnest and also cast lighter weights. just make sure you don't wind it all the way so it falls off into the water and change it slightly every time you change lure weights. just remember use your thumb i hope this has helped you good luck, Fletcher
  19. i came accros this lure a few months back ..... heres a few more links too it http://www.macdaddysfishinglures.com/milli...llar_lure.shtml http://www.bornrich.org/entry/the-million-dollar-lure/
  20. never seen one of those before ..... amazing !
  21. i use a #4 squidgie ball jig head ..... i have experimented with other sizes but find with bream these seem to go the best on these SP
  22. with the sandworms you rig them on a jig head (but you can use them as a baitts aswell) ..... i usually cut them in half or so but will fish them whole if i feel like it ..... they are so effective that i had a large guppy (used to be called guppy's not sure if they still are) eat one and as i got him to the surface he was only holding onto its tail ..... it hadn't even been hooked ! i managed to get him into the boat ..... so they do wrok ..... i rig these not like a normal SP ill try and post a few pics up when i can
  23. i am going to give bream comps a go next year (only for fun nothing serious yet) and was given this site ..... does anyone fish these comps ? a few people i know fish them and are under 16 so i am guessing it is an open age thing ?
  24. thanks for the help guys ..... im kinda new to the whole LB thing so i got a fair bit to learn (alot different to boat fishing ) ..... i was reading a few post's and people kept refering to "the spot that jewhunter made famous" ..... is it possibable if someone could shed some light on where it is ? and is there a SP that seems to be more popular there ? or just the good ol' BM/PM ?
  25. just the same as every other LB spot ..... poluted oh well i release all bream anyway so plenty of other fish to keep for a feed else where ..... is this one of the better places to fish on the parra ?
