  1. I was having trouble getting the pillies to stay on the hook. So I started making the traces a ittle longer and putting to half hitches arround the tail if you have them head down. If you have them head up make sure the last hook goes through the eye. I'd go with the Patenoster in the surf to. Running ledger if its calm would be worth a shot, like fishingphase suggested.
  2. Hi guys, Took a trip up to the big smoke at the weekend with the mrs and baby. We found a pram friendly spot, reccomended by some of the guys on here, and set up for the afternoon. I got to one of the piers under the harbor bridge to see a guy cleaning a kingy! Today is to be a good day thought I I had brought my new livey/jigging rod for a little test run and set about burleying up with a tin of cat food to entise some yakkas. There were tonnes of little sardiney bait fish swimming around but it wasnt long before I had my first live bait out. The bait runner was set and the sun wad beating down on us. To kill the time I set up some SPs and stated bouncing them accoss the bottom hoping there was a flattie waiting under the bait..........there wasnt There was a lovely bream though. Went really hard down on the depths there. It took a 3inch gulp minnow in watermelon pearl in a 1/2oz jig head. It had to be that heavy to get down! The mrs puled in a few pinkies and yakkas but nothing took the livie. No kingy for me. There were a good number of squid taken by the guys around and one chap pulled in a 60ish cm flattie, lucky bugger. Anywho, thats enough from me. Lovely day had by all. Cheers,
  3. i'll deff let you know if I catch anything that glows in the dark!
  4. Cheers guys. Just hope the weather holds.
  5. We are coming up to Sydney for the weekend and staying in darling harbour. Can you fish there? If not, where's closest? Got my spinning gear and my jewie rod (yet to be tested) so keen to get a line in. Cheers guys
  6. Nice fish there mate. They are jumping in my local spot at the moment as well. Maybe worth giving a fly a go for those that way inclined.
  7. Cheers, Fingers crossed hey? Black muntain Penninsular in Lake Burley Griffen. Turns out there are more than Carp and red fin in there!
  8. On google maps, the warfs are by the Saphire coast discovery center. Follw the road down past the whale museum and it will be on your right.
  9. Hey Linc. As far as family friendly spots go, you cant go wrong with the main warf. If the waters warm, burley up and watch the slimies come flocking in. That will keep the kids happy Then wack a one out under a float to see if anything else is out there, There were a few squid about, under the lights as well. Last time I was there I was on crutches so I havent had a chance to check out the rocks yet. But it all looks very fishy. I hope that helps. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about it
  10. Hi guys. Just wanted to share my success. Made a concerted effort to pick up a golden pearch. Well a total of 4 hrs over 2 days... But close enough right? Anywho. Started chucking some SPs from a rock face until I snagged about 3 casts in. Switched to a spinner and bounced that across the bottom. Wack! Pulled out a nice 25 ish cm yellow. Very happy chappy. I'll get a pic up soon. Thanks for your hints and tips guys.
  11. Cheers guys, We were down at Moruya, just a day trip. Really good spot for families or the slightly immobile.
  12. Morning all. I just wanted to share yesterday's experience with you all as it was mind blowing to see and I achieved a first to top it off. A bit of a last min decision to head to the coast for the first time since I smashed my leg up back in June. Hastily packed my new diawa tdt 2-5 kg and a light weight beach caster and pottered down to the breakwall. There were clouds of sheer waters flying low to the surface across the bay. We fished the run out for nada but were able to watch a string of humpbacks migrating through. Breaching, tail slapping, the works. We also had a dolphin cruise past as well. Then on the turn if the tide the birds started going nuts! Gannets joined in but we couldn't see any fish with the chop. We waited for them to come into casting range only to be bipasted. Sod that, I thought! Scurried over the boulders, with grace of a wounded walrace, and chucked a 10g slug into the wind. It only managed about 10 m but that was all it needed. Fizzing across the surface there was a good splash behind as a nice 45 cm salmon nailed it. First fish on a new set up with a new method. Happy days. Just a few slimed mackerel for the rest of the afternoon. But it was a cracking day with everything going on
  13. We have only had 1 a session here as well. All have been on bread on the bottom with circle hooks and the drag right off.
  14. That's class advise mate. So the places to try for us are the warfs at marimbula (off the bottom) and eden with metals or a livie. And beaches for the usual suspects. Really appropriate it.
  15. Really appreciate the advise. Any tactics that are proven?
  16. Haha. No worries. It's all good info. Looking forward to the possibilities. Feel free to join us.
  17. Unreal. I'm now going to cry into my pillow. Great read.
  18. Yeah. We smashed the bait fish there an a few squid last time. Saw a kingie but it wouldn't take my yakka Is the 'navy warf' pretty easy to get to?
  19. Hi guys, Just a quick one. Does any one know any easy access spots for live baiting and flicking sp's around Eden? Im finnaly off my crutches but a bit wobbley and we will have the new born in tow So off roading and climbing are a bit of a no no for a few more months. First time wetting a line in the brine for about 10 weeks. So excited!
  20. I have heard of drifing with them. I dont know if that would work for you?
  21. Some mates of mine have been picking up a few sharks off the beach. That would give your mate a rush.
  22. Any of the above really. I hadnt thought of the logistics
