  1. We have picked up some belting black bream in the river. Right under the bridge at night. Bait wise, Plenty of Nippers to be pumped on the sand flats. Yakkas by the bucket at the warf. And Squid at the boat ramp mentioned above.
  2. Cheers Guys, I better start saving. In the mean time...... keep trying my luck.
  3. Hi Guys, I've been out targeting Jewies (land based) using live Yakkas and Slimies. My hook up rate is going pretty well but I keep getting stripped. Im using a 6-8kg beach caster with 25lb line. The line is up to the task but the rod just cant hack it. Any reccomendations? Thanks
  4. Thats great. I will keep you posted on my progress. Has anyone fished the canberra area?
  5. Hoping to get a long walk in this weekend and flick some lures. Really appreciate the help
  6. Magic Hodgey! Thanks. Dark colours close to the snag, nice and slow? Might have a little flick tonight
  7. Hi Guys, Just wondering if I can tap the collective knowlege again. You guys have come up trumps with every species so far. My next challenge is to catch a native. We are house sitting near some recently stocked lakes and would love to try and tempt a cod out of hiding. Are there any 'go too' methods you have? Any particular hidy holes worth exploring? Thanks for your help as always guys. Stu
  8. good stuff mate. Where abouts where you when you picked up the kingies?
  9. Just about to head down towards the museum if any one wants to join. Please feel free.
  10. Awesome report. Are you guys using circle hooks? If so what are the pros and cons?
  11. Prob wouldn't help the perch and cod stocks though
  12. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone is about this weekend? I have heard rumours of a get together on sunday and we are pretty keen to get involved. Please feel free to meet up and share some knowlege and have a laugh. Cheers, Stu

    WD-40

I read that as a kid and religiously spray my reels and line with it. No idea if there is any proof behind it though.
  14. I cant comment on locations mate. But the guys here gave me some great tips which have worked well. I use a running sinker up to a swivel then about 30 cm of fluro trace to a size 4 circle hook. mush the bread around that into a ball (some times use a bit of vanilla essance. Throw it into the lake and rest the rod as low as possible, so there is next to no resistance for the line. Then let the drag right off so they can suck the bait up and move it around until the hook bites. Then sit back, enjoy the world passing you by and listen for the buzzing drag. Or flick some SPs for red fin for a laugh. Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, just sharing what works for me
  15. got back yesterday mate. Theres plenty of pike off the rocks. Didnt pick up any salmon this time though. Saw plenty of Blackies when I went swimming but I couldnt hook any. (need a bit of help with that one) The sting rays are impressive

They are quite good fun on light gear. Had a few at the weekend on metal lures.

  19. Hey guys, I'm heading down this time next week for 4 days. Will be throwing off the stones and hitting the beach if anyone is about? Has any one had much luck down there recently? Also is there anywhere to pick up some squid off the rocks? Cheers
  20. Great advise. I'll give that a go. Does anyone know if there are any cod in sullivans creek? There are plenty of snags and a light current there.
  21. with out probing for toooo many secrets. Where abouts where you and what was your plan of attack. I am yet to land a native and would love to get some tips and hints. Form the gurus.
  22. Inspirational mate! well played! Love the showmanship to
  23. Thanks guys. It was a bit of a hit. I see what you mean about not fishin your self. Spent a lot of time baiting up and burleying (as advised, cheers for that). Foubd the yakkas were on the bite so put a small wasabi rig and he was smashing them up to 3 at a time. Not bad from a warf. The mrs was picking up small stuff to. And I did manage to sneak in my first shark over here. A 4 foot bronze whaler. Over the moon. Thanks again guys.
  24. Sounds good. Get him collecting some bait for my beach sessions
