  2. Hi roberto

302 and 306 are my very faves

had one 302 that held PB's in bream bass and flatties for a while (RIP my friend :074: )

have a 307 and can't catch anything on it go figure :tease:

    cheers

    another note on SX40"s

I have tried a LOT of good imported lures since i tied on my first SX40

and with the exception of the camion have not found any better for bream

    great lures IMO

  3. Hey mate

I just gave my new stradic 3000FI a serious workout on some big salmon and must say i was very happy with how it performed. Out of the box i was dissapointed with its feel (too much freeplay and felt very rough) however after some 6 hours of solid casting and retreiving heavy (15g) lures it now feels solid and smooth

i think i paid $140 for it from the US but it will be more expensive now

saying that i also own a luvias and a presso and love these as well

IMO the shimanos a built a bit tougher and stand up to salt a lot better

  4. I have got a jitterbug jrn in black which works a treat again with the techniques described above

also similar paddlers would be R2S buggi pop and even kokoda cicadas all do the trick.

the trick with bass is getting the cast into the stike zone and keeping it their for as long as possible whilst using the lure to imitate an insect that is an easy meal

bass can't resist, but sometimes hookups are a little hard to come, this is probably because bass are sometimes trying to submerge the lure to get a better look at it.

just be patient and hookups will come

  5. Definitely use your bream lures on bass!!

bass are nowhere near as fussy on the surface as bream

just remember to pitch it into the snag and let it sit with a few subtle twiches

bass will just smash it as soon as it moves

get those buggi pops they still catch me more surface bass than sammy and co.

    cheers

  6. Yeh new season new lures

Bass have just woken up but here is a few favs already

    Keitech spinnerbait (5gram)

    Bassday Bun (surface beetle)

ANRES Jungle Pop (great grasshopper imitation)

    Chubby (brains them)

R2S baby vib and baby crank (in black)

Camion SR still catch the most fish

  7. I have got an old raider and it has served me well

the new ones are great value for money

on the stradic i just got a new 3000FI from the US and was initially very dissapointed with the smoothness and excessive free play:thumbdown:

stripped her down and shimmed her up and has since improved, however i would not call it 'smooth'.

my point is i don't know if i got a 'friday arvo special' or they are all like this?

make sure you check her out before you buy

    cheers

  8. I just got back from the south coast fishing for salmon and tailor and my outfit was outstanding.

It consisted of a 7'7" 3-6kg graphite rod matched to a new stradic 3000.

choose of line was even more critical, i spooled one spool with 12lb fireline(GSP) and the other with 12lb unitika saltwater PE. the difference was day and night. The unitika (true braid) is 1/2 the diameter :1yikes:

and probably casts twice as far. Distance at times using metal lures was just MASSIVE, and so was the knot strength, all breakoffs occurred at the leader to lure knot

i used 12lb maxima mono for leader.

I know some people have issues with wind knots using true braid but i did not have a single knot in 6 hours of casting in very windy conditions

oh and this outfit handled salmon 60+cm with ease :yahoo:

    cheers

managed to spend a day on the nepean today with a result of two bass 39cm and 40cm on spinner bait. Got the first one at the wallacia end near the near the weed boom with the second about 500 metres back down. All in all got a few bites, but had a fantastic day on the water.

good to see some one is getting them
