  3. Fezza Android is not ready yet..maybe in a year or two. Apps are coming but are well behind Apple/iphone. For now go the iphone for usability and yes it does have GPS in-built. GPS apps - Navionics do Australia wide marine maps as per the big sounder maps for $15. Metroview is a car GPS app that works as well as any stand alone GPS. $25 C

Dave Its a minus figure because we are southern hemisphere latitude, northern being a positive number. Equally a negative longitude is a location west of the prime meridian With the numbers your Box Head numbers are in decimal format and the software wants degrees/mintues/seconds which really only affect's the last numbers. Hence .549 is actually 32.94 secs (60 secs x .549) which you would make 33 for your app. eg -33 32 33 I'll let you try the longitude so you can see how it works. Run the app again and see where it takes you. C. .
  5. Hi Adam Yes the stack is dry from the factory and works extremely well. The washers can be removed with a minor bit of tool fabrication. If its not your thing really don't worry about it...just a play if you feel like it and its a mod with good results. If you fancy doing it at any point drop me a pm and I'll guide you through it. Cheers C
  6. Stippy If you grease up those Soron drag washers the drag gets even better. Read some of Alan Tani's articles about this in the reel maintainence section. C.
  7. Timmy You should look at carrying both a reef and a sand anchor. You can swap them over using a 'D' shackle. If you really not sure of the bottom throw the reef anchor out first. If you know its dragging you can swap over to the sandy. And yes there's a reef 'foot' that extends out around Lion Island and there are many many sand anchors down there! Sarca anchors and similar work well but still do lock up occasionally and your light tinny may not have the grunt to pull it free....there goes another $100! If you want to wander south at some point soon I have a sand anchor that will suit. Cheers Chris
  8. Justin Make sure your drag is correctly set first. The interweb has numerous articles on how to do this if your unsure. You can give a 3kg leader a surprising amount of stick if the setup is right. If your still struggling up the leader strength..you could go as far as 10 or 12lb. With bream its a balancing act between how heavy you can go before the bites stop happening. Tough times can see me using 2lb line to get a good bite. But I have used 14lb in heavy structure. C.

You've really got to try them all on and go with what feels the best. Remember its getting that balance of being comfortably tight so they stay on if you get thrown from the boat and comfortable. They are all comfortable worn loose! C.
  10. I stand to be corrected but I think on those you pop the shift cable off the shift arm on the side of the powerhead and push the arm in and twist clockwise slightly to unlatch the pin from the gearcase shift rod. Hard to explain without a picture I guess. C.
  11. Cool.....an app for both Android users!
  12. Agree with Steve on his points. I also live off the iphone and am happy to help out with feedback and testing. How do you get to Fishraider Steve? I bookmarked the "Today's active content" page and go through this and always get the full view. If I go through the "front door" I get the mobile view first. C.
  13. Dave Fuel tank is highly unlikley...save your money. XD50 is fine. Fuel tank vent should be open all the way when running. Age of the fuel line and bulb? If you don't know borrow another or replace this first to be confident of fuel supply to the motor. Then you can look further. C.
  14. I was at the netting of one in Darling Harbour last weekend. Poor thing was freezing his proverbials off! A few have taken lures recently though so they are still trying to feed. C.
  15. Should have seen it after 3 days....
  16. That would be this bloke. Caught on a 3in Berkley Bass Minnow I believe, 4lb leader. C.
  17. Results table is now up on the BETS website. Congrats to Frosty and Mick....well done fella's! C.
  18. Remember for anyone going to the Sydney Boat Show the weigh-in and prize giving for the Berkley Evinrude Team Series is on in Cockle Bay in the centre of Darling Harbour 3.30pm on Saturday 2pm on Sunday. The sixteen boats and teams will be at the pontoons in front of the Harbourside Shopping Centre. Good luck to Bubba and all the teams...some big money and prizes up for grabs! C.
  19. Was out today (not fishing, boat testing) and the water was beautiful and crystal clear. Almost wanted to jump in until I saw the 14C water temp on the gauge! C
  20. Do not stuff around with oil in an Opti...proper Optimax DFI oil or as Huey suggests XD100 can be used (he loves his XD-100). Alby Running a decent oil like XD50 in your carb Yammy only makes life better...less smell, emissions, better lubrication stability etc. PM to Huey will sought you out with some XD50. C.

Auto pilot should keep you in the same direction from the moment you press the button. In tough conditions you may also have to steer a bit and adjust the power but ordinarily it should keep you on the same heading. Don't start autopilot until the motor is in the water and you are going in the direction you want. C.
  22. What motor for a start? Shift mechanisms all vary slightly. C.
  23. Furuno have great electronics and transducers and are great for that sort of deeper water work. Trouble is the screen resolution is lousy and way behind the Lowrance. You've picked the right two certainly...go to a shop and play with both if you can. If you were'nt so deep I would be going the Lowrance and probably still would base more on taste than technicalities. C.
  24. The standard 50/200hz Skimmer is a HST-WSBL I think. The 83hz is a bit like a side band frequency you get anyway but newer sounders let you use this. If I remember you can only split display either 50/83 or 83/200hz. Set up the 83/200Hz displays if you are generally working in water less than 50 - 75ft deep. For deeper water you use 50/83hz. C.
  25. Can't tell you what it is but the sounder will. If its a 200hz only you will not be able to setup the 50hz settings in the menu. Like wise if its a 50/200hz you can play and display both. C.
