hey guys n girls i was at work today and threw out a bent hydrolic ram and just as it landed in the bin i realized ?? the rod would be perfect for some bottom bash sinkers at browns,, so i cut it into a few fifferent lengths for different weights and simply welded a large split pin to the top for a tie point, as i lose a few sinkers and lead is getting harder to find,

sweet new sinkers for the trial and free yay

gave the weld a quick lick of paint and there it is, done

    cheers andy

    Andy

Some of the new sinkers in the photo look quite heavy ???? what are the weights.

I cut up two lenghts of bore shart and got 67 3kg and 20 1.5kg and they where only half the lenght of a sash weight.

    Cheers

    BLOODY BANANAS :1yikes::ranting2:

It turns out that the wife wanted to save said items to make some muffins for the kids.

Its all good ,she said she was nt thinking, and was very sorry (as she is well aware of the dangers of bananas ).

Anyway, what do i do now?, is there anyway to remove the banana curse from the bait that was in the freezer.

Or should i just bin it and get another freezer.

Look forward to your solutions to my problem.

    Cheers

    Bruce.

    Bruce

You first of all must remember its not a freezer problem so lets stick to the root cause.

Get a new Wife and all will be good :074::074::074:

  5. Hi guys I started putting a new false floor in my boat over the weekend as the last one was made from cheap ply and rotted away. This time I used heavy constuction ply and I decided to make an aluminium frame for the floor to sit on so that it isnt sitting in water on the bottom of the boat when it rains, with some under floor storage as well. The whole thing lifts out so it can be easily cleaned underneath and the odd sinker or swivel removed easily.

    this is the aluminium frame

    post-8689-1238671021_thumb.jpg

1 side with the ply on top showing the under floor hatch

    post-8689-1238671088_thumb.jpgpost-8689-1238671172_thumb.jpg

I only have 1 side carpeted at this stage and the underfloor storage has to have some ply sitting on the ribs to keep it off the bottom of the boat and allow any water to pass underneath.

    post-8689-1238671321_thumb.jpg

The aluminium frame was pop riveted together and aluminium tee pieces were pop riveted to the frame to divide the floor sections.

That is a whooper leather jacket.

If you don't mind, what or where is "CG"?

    Regards,

    Long

    Longy

CG is for Clifton Gardens which is on the north side of Sydney Harbour.

  7. thanks bob.....i will take your advise. cheers

The other thing to try is keeping an eye on Fishing Chat and Fishing Trips to see what other raiders are getting up to and you may be able to hook up with them.

    Cheers

    Bob

  8. Driver1

It seems to me that you have consumed some of the flatties already. :gathering:

I do remember seeing two large flatties in you post which would equal 4 fillets back can only see three in photo.

    Cheers

  9. there was talk a little while ago where it was proposed for the better fisho's to tag along with the not so clued up or experienced guys/girls and show them ropes.

i currently have a boat and venture out mostly into botany bay but ususally come back home without success.

it would be wonderful if it could be arranged for "on site tutorial" to occur where people like me can learn how and where to catch squid and yakkas and then transfer these into catches.

just an idea.....i can understand the difficulties involved but it would be sensataional if somehow it can eventuate.

anyway until then i am learning heaps from all the great reports put up...thanks in advance.

    Fisheroo

I would be putting post in the desprate and boat less section of this fourm asking for a deckie with knowlage of the areas you want to fish.

I am sure that you would get some of the raiders happy to go out with you and teach you every thing they know.

What better way that having them on the boat to show you first hand.

    Cheers

  10. Hey there Raiders,

Took the young fella out for a fish off the third runway and here's what came up the burley trail. Not bad on 4lb braid /10lb leader.

It gave him plenty of curry with run after run. At 57 cm, the lucky Kingy got to fight again another day.

    post-3320-1241929490_thumb.jpg

    Hookem

Even thow it was a throw back. I bet the young fella had a ball reeling it in and buy the look on his face it will be one that he will remember. It will be a story he will share with all his fisho friends at school.

    Cheers

    Bob

  11. Hi Bob. Just going to cover the fillets with salt - layer upon layer ... then bag them or put them into containers and into the freezer.

Never tried "wet salting". Is that where you soak them in a saturated salt solution for a while?

    Cheers

    Peter

    Pete

Thats correct and they say it keeps the flesh much better than dry salting.

    Cheers

    Bob
