  1. That would be a big live tank. Might be worthwhile checking approx how much water it will hold and getting the same weight in sandbags putting them up front and doing a test run as punts don't like being nose heavy. Of get a couple of fat mates.

    Pelican

As you would know as you have meet me i am a big fellow. So trust me the weight of the water will not come close to being front heavy. And this is also the reason for it to be full size.

I will be able to fill it when fishing alone. As i do fish alone on most trips it will get used alot.

I will go to this sight and check it out. Thanks

  2. Hi Raiders

I have just started work on my new punt and was looking for some suggestions and ideas that some of you other raiders may have.

I have a 3.99 proline very basic model which i would like to put a floor in, a side console and of cause a live bait tank.

I would like to have some storage under floor so some photos of this would be good. The other big thing is i want to have a live bait tank the whole width and depth of the the front of the boat. I will be needing some help with who maybe able to built this (someone who sponcers fishraiders would be perfered).

I would like to see photos from anyone who has a full live bait tank built in the front of the boat from the front storage to the front seat.

    Cheers

  3. Hi all,

Since my new boat won't fit under my carport I was planning on concreting an area of grass next to the carport to put the boat, however after getting estimates of $2500 I've changed my mind. I should have been a concreter, I'd be rich by now.

Anyway, was wondering if anyone pushes (by hand) a boat onto any sort of pebble driveway and if it can be done. Its flat and its a 4.8 aluminium cuddy cabin on 8" wheels. If you do it, I'd like to know what sort of pebbles you have, I could imagine it might be harder on some sorts than others.

The other altenative I guess is to make 2 cement 'tracks' where the boat will go and keep the grass or pebbles around them.

    Thanks!

    Wonniefisho

Have you priced the concrete to do it yourself as you will fined this much cheaper than getting a conreter in.

It is not that hard to lay crete and i believe that with a few slabs of beer and a bbq you would not have trouble finding help. I think if you went down this path that you could get you crete layed for approx $1000 depenting on size.

We as raiders should be looking out for each others not just on the seas but land aswell. So if you like pm me and i will be glad to help.

Pm me the size an location i will get my mate who has a concrete truck to give you a price.

    Cheers

You may not have caught much live bait .But you have to be happy with the ones you did catch and turn into some good table fish.

There has been many time when us raiders have come back with only the livies we have caught.

  5. Hi all raiders

It has been some time since my last post in fishing report due to too much fishing.

I have just completed 97 days of fishing. I have completed 4 different comp from river to sea (River = Hay Classic, Leeton Classic and Echuca Classic) ( Sea = Tathra Blue Water) was going to do the Eden blue water comp but had to return to Sydney due to brake issues with trailer.

I have no good new to report from the comps as little was caught to put me into the running for any prizes. But I did keep a tally of all the fish caught over the 97 days.

    River

    12 Murray cod

    2 yellow bellies

48 snags and 9 lost lures

    Sea

14 stripe tuna (all in one day)

    1 deep sea perch

    4 green eye sharks

    227 flathead

    357 wrasse

    10 snapper

    15 sergeant’s bakers

    4 parrot fish

    89 leather jackets

    182 slimies good size too

    2 banjo sharks

    3 kingies

    28 sweep

    5 gurnets

The highlight of the trip would have been the day we fished out of Eden. The wind was blowing from the north at approx 15 to 20km tried for some kings just near south head but zip.

So headed down to green cape to try for some there but all of those who know GREEN CAPE the wind was blowing 20 to 30km from the north so bottom bashing was the call for the rest of the day. Started a drift from the north bombora of green cape and had differed to the south some few kms. With the wind stilling blowing from the north at a good pace we head back to the north east end of the bay at green cape to try and get out of the wind. We arrive and start a new drift when within 10 mins or so the wind stopped and the water turned to glass this lasted a whole 2 minutes when from the south Mother Nature unleashed her fury. The wind went form zip to 99kms in just 30 seconds I'm not kidding . Well this made it a very interesting ride back to Eden. I took many picture but as we all know that they really do not show just how bad the seas really are so I have posted two of the only other boat that was silly enough to be out there with us. The photo is of a Webster that was in front of us coming across green cape and we passed him just north of green cape and arrived back at Eden some 30mins in front of him (thank god for the crusher). All in all it was a great 97 days and can not wait till I am off again next month.

    Cheers

    Bob

These are the best two pictures that would give you some idea of what 99k winds do at green cape and remember they do not do mother nature justice you have to be there to understand her real fury.

  6. So Bob, do you have some good advice to any Raiders heading down the same path?

I'm just finishing up my first and my tackle collection is pretty good already and I just called my latest boat NEXT and I just gave away a house!

So whats the good oil that's going to keep us from a lonely life tinkering with our own tackle? :P

    G

    Greg

The only advice i would give any raider heading down the same path is.

If it make you happy then do it as life is to short.

The good oils is that, you are never lonely and you never TINKER with you tackle.

If you own so much tackle and truley do not have a passion for it then it a waste.

I have spent many happy hours in my tackle room with a beer and a polish cloth.

    Cheers

    Bob

    P/S

Remember loneliness is one who is unable to find there own inner happiness

    I found mine :1fishing1::1fishing1::1fishing1::1fishing1::1fishing1::1fishing1::beersmile:

  8. Hi all

I have just returned from the letton classic which was a great 8 days

I am heading off for the echuca classic which is on 27-29 and was wondering if any raiders would be there.

My plan will be to arrive 2 days before and stay two days after.

This will then give me 4 days at home then off for the tarthra blue water classic.

So if any raiders are plaining to attend these coms please let me know as it would be nice to put faces to some of the many raiders on this site.

    Cheers

Just something you need to be carefull of with the steering problem. I would not asume that the steering issue is all to do with the water issue.

I have been in boats that do what they call chime walk, and at speeds this is dangerous. This is caused by foils being fitted to some outboards not run at the right trim or foil to large like bug mention.

I am in no way trying to put you off but just keep in the back of your mind. when you have all the water issue fix that you do some trails on trims settings at different speeds to insure the the lean problem is not chime walking .

  10. Dan

I was at the the b/b fad some 4 weeks and had a simular thing with another boat out there with a bag full of small dollies.:thumbdown:

I dont know why they would even bother as you wouldn't even get a feed off them they where that small.

Maybe the fisheries should do more mobile patrols around these areas. So all of us other free paying fisho's get there moneys worth.

    cheers

  11. Trying to get the little bloke enthused about the whole fishing caper.

Problem is like most little kids (4yo) they get bored easily if there is no action.

So I have to be fairly certain something is going to happen when I drag him away from his toys to do something.

The missus was out so I convinced him it would be a good Idea to head down to the canal and throw in a line.

post-6647-1235874081_thumb.jpg A Toad because he could see it and wanted to catch it

At which point he decided he was hungry and wanted to go home.

A half hour investment in getting a new fishing mate , it was fun to see a bit of excitment while his attention held. :biggrin2:

    Craig

Good onya. A couple of more years of coaching and he will be your best fishing buddy :yahoo: .

    Keep up the good work.

  12. Raiders

I have about 10 sash weights laying around that need to go i would like to see them go to a raiders before the tip. They are different in size but some could be cut to give you 2 sinkers for browns.

These are for free but pick up only.

    cheers
