  1. Awesome effort mate, you never forget your first good jewie, the panic and activity when it surfaces, the colourfull language until it is in the net and the all mighty relief when it is finally on deck. Cheers Andy
  2. Nice effort Scratchie, haven't ever seen a ball of big snapper myself but my grandfather used to talk of them doing it at Edith Breaker on sunrise and sunset back in the day. These days it would have to be right time right place. Cheers Andy
  3. Awesome mate, what a tasty feed
  4. Good stuff mate, a tasty feed and a great time catching them
  5. Gday Rider, sometimes I could see the fish take the fly and sometimes it was a case of where did the fly go I.e. lose sight of the Fluro green and strike hoping it was in the fishes gob
  6. It was an awesome session, watching the fish approach the fly and then timing the strike, so many misses but that amazing feeling as the rod loads up on a solid hookup and then a good fight from a solid fish wow
  7. Gday again raiders, been a little while between adventures but here goes. I had set myself a goal of catching a feed of luderick this year, as I have never fished specifically for them before but I do enjoy eating them. This morning I had intended to use a float and dropper rig to try out a new artificial fly I had bought over the weekend, this if course only works if you remember to put the floats in the car ! Hmmm plan A out the window, what to do now, bingo I will tie the fly straight on to the 10lb fluro carbon leader and sight cast it up current to sink and drift back past where the fish were holding. First try slurp yank miss, next try slurp yank miss, third try slurp pause yank twang I'm on !!! My first targeted blackfish and its on fly !!! Played him for a couple of minutes then into the net, a nice solid fish and so strong. Ended up with a full bag after about an hour this morning before work, most of the fish were male, ranged from 32 to 41cm and all fell to a fluro green artificial fly, they were no interested in the brown one at all. Cheers Andy
  8. +1 for bleeding straight away, once they have bled out then ice them, the wife steams them with mixed herbs and lemon juice prior to mixing with mashed potato, onion and corriander, then roll into ball crumb and deep fry yum yum. On a side note it is nearly impossible to keep the kids (and the big kid) away from the steamed fillet while it is cooling. Cheers Andy
  9. G'day Razzel, I have been coming across salmon now for about 6 weeks, their numbers seem to vary according to how much bait is around and where the bait is sitting. The last 2 weeks have been very quiet due to all the crap weather but i believe as soon as the water clears up they should be around, my last posts featured a fair few of these tasty critters. Cheers Andy
  10. +1 also, caught a trumpeter over summer and it was the first one i had seen in years, used to catch them all the time growing up fishing off the pier at little beach.
  11. Would also put my money on tailor, they have been very thick in most areas lately and a few greenbacks have been amongst them.
  12. Sad to see him go, but he had a good innings
  13. Awesome stuff mate, there are plenty of big ones out there at the moment so keep at it.
  14. Is it on a trailer ? Is trailer registered and in a condition that can be towed ? Are you looking to have it loaded onto a truck ? Make sure your boat insurance is rock solid as freight/transport companies and their "insurance" are nearly impossible to claim on in the event of damage, if they offer it at all. Cheers Andy
