  8. Just the space it will take up thats all. The main poblem is the shaft length, and after reading the minn kota brochure thier still is not a shaft length that fits the 800-900mm height, and I want to make sure that the shaft length is correct. I had a motorguide great wite sw82 on order but cancelled it due to it being to " agriculture " for my liking. I know minn kota will have what I want but its probably the most expensive bow mount they have :-mad2
  9. Not really. plenty of space in the back, just the hassle running a 24v set up thats all. I happily sacrificed the typical stessl or hornet route as the trailcraft has a nice 4mm plate bottom and 3mm plate sides. perfect boat for chasing pelagics in swell, which is something a hornet or dedicated bream boat could not do as easily as the trailcraft. Plus it has a fully welded deck with scuppers so when water gets on, it just flows straight out the back and nothing gets wet like the bream/bass boats that have underfloor storage and everything in them gets wet when water comes in over the top :ohyeh: Not all boats do this but I have seen many that do. love the smell of moldy lifejackets

    Need Some Help

Thanks Jo. had a similar idea but it hard to figure it out. Thanks Lee
  11. I have to wait for when my boat arrives so I can measure the height from the gunnell to the water so I know what size leccy to get. Problem is that when I rang trailcraft the stated it was around 800-900mm. Now that puts me in a spot of bother for the leccy as I wanted a 12v not a 24 v minn kota riptide. So i was wondering is there anyone out there who owns a 4.5 pro fish and has a bow mount leccy. If so some help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Lee

    Need Some Help

Hi guys, I need some help here. I have a fair amount of the plano lure box trays and when my boat arrives :ohyeh: i was wanting to install a tackle box in the side console of my boat. However I have had no luck at the present trying to locate one. So any ideas anyone??? Your help would be greatly appreciated Lee
  13. loz, I have purchased 2 new outfits that fit within your budgets. The first is a Daiwa heartland IM6 and daiwa harbodyz kastor 1500 reel. That combo set me back $170 but it was on special. Normally around the $240 mark. The second was the Strudwick sick stic pro 1-3kg stick with another daiwa harbodyz kastor 1500 reel. That combo should fit within your budget. I beleive that if you are spending $400 tops you should spend up close to your limit to ensure you get the best quality that you can afford. Don't forget to factor in some line for the new reel as well. Hope this helps Lee
  14. Iain, The reason for the braid wedging into itself is sometimes 3 things that I have found. 1. backing. Good thick backing is a must to keep and stop the braid from slipping on the spool and wedging on itself. 2. Line Lay. The line laying system of your reel can have a huge impact on how your spool handles braid. Bad designs or even defects with line lay systems can make braid cut in on itself and thus you get the wedging you are talking about. 3. How the braid is put on the reel. I have seen and experienced this. If the shop you buy the braid from has a spooling maching I recomend they spool the reel on thier machine. I have wound 300 yards of braid onto my baitrunner twice with two different outcomes. Once was wedging becuase I think i wounda little to quickly or there was not enough pressure kept on the line, and the second time I think we realised that the line lay system maybe defective with the bail arm kinked possibly. 15. How have you found the squidgy braid mitch?? I was tossing up between that and the new XDS but after looking at both I decided on the xds due to the amount i can spool onto teh reel.
  16. Well it depends on what you are fishing for. There are heaps of braids and fused lines available but the best would be fireline in my opinion. For bream and similar species 4 and 6 lb fireline is what I use, but 8 n 10 lb for fishing very heavy snags and rough racks. I used 6kg fireline up at the Solitary Islands at Coffs harbour with a 30lb mono trace when jigging and got the jig snagged on a bomby. The 30lb mono broke before the braid. Braid gives you the " come here feel " but mono has stretch and for some fish that’s what you want. For flicking lures for bream and trevs and flatties I would suggest 4-6lb fireline with varying mono leaders, depending on what you are targeting. As for salmon i would suggest 6-10lb depending on how confident you are. The new fireline xds is out and have a look at the link - http://www.berkley-fishing.com/new/story.c...128&Position=51. Will be spooling my abu C4 5600 LE up with some very shortly. I prefer to use light line so i can enjoy the fight when hokked up to a fish. Hope this helps Lee

    I'm Buying A Poly!

Wakd try navman and Hummingbird for GPS and sounders. Also depends if you want a combined sounder/gps unit, colour or black n white and are you going to have a sounder near your leccy so you can see the fishies under you!!!! As for your leccy it depends how much you want to spend. Minn Kota or Motorguide. Minn Kota has the autopilot on the riptide but they can run out at around $1500 unless someone here knows of a place that does a good deal.

  20. I actually have spoken to the guy that heas tested the pro elite and had the option to purchase the boat pre Sydney boat show, but the wrong boat was delievred by stacer. He is from Hirecraft Marine at Toronto. They have great deals on boats and have been the nationjal stacer dealer for the last couple of years. One of the guys that works there actuallt used to part own and work at blackwatch, so if its an experienced stacer dealer you are after you will not get any better than these guys. There service is second to none. These guys are the bench mark in the marine dealers. They do there best to look after all thier customers.
  21. the pro fish is a plate boat not a pressed boat. Its has 4mm bottom plate and 3 mm side plates. 2.1 metre beam, scupers, fully welded deck so it can handle some swell and a 60litre+ fuel tank underfloor and it weighs in at 270 kgs. Its built to take WA conditions so it should be right at home here on NSW waters. Would hate to put a 1.6mm side n 2 mm bottom boat into some swell or be out when the weather blows up. Its a boat that can fish for bream in the river, kingy''s ( some one help me get one please ) in the harbour and can troll lures up north for dollies, spaniards and anything else. Also the stacer pro elite is a great boat but you cant fish out of it in the middle of the harbour if its not dead flat cause the only room you have in that boat is casting deck room. Quite easy to fall off if the swell kicks up and you have a decent fish on. Only bad thing is that the trailcraft does not have much storage, but what alot alot of boat builders dont tell you is that the bream boats with casting platforms if they take a wave over the front all you storage compartments will take on water. It will drain out of course but anything in them get nice n wet.
  22. Nice boat mate. had a look at them at a stacer dealer up north. read all about the boat in the stacer media day. Awsome boat that has the potential to be an alrounder. I had a tough descission between the 475 stessl edgetracker, stacer 470 tournament elite and the 450 trialcraft profish. Eventually the pro fish won out. Lee
