  5. Well we hit the parra on Saturday and launched the boat at kissing point at around 6:30 ish. We headed straight up to the bridges with the livewell tank filling as we got there. The wind was already blowing at an unpleasant rate. The plan of attack was sp's for me and baits for my girlfriend. When we arrived at the train bridge we started fishing as soon as the Minn Kota was in the water. A couple drifts around the pylons saw a nice chopper come to the boat that liked the look of my sp. He was released to fight another day. There were heaps of hits but they would not take the sp. Meanwhile over in bait land my girlfriend was getting absolutely crunched with her baits and no fish on board. Then she manages to coax in a small bream. He was released as well. Then next cast her IM6 was bucked right over down to the waters edge with a serious fish attached to the 10lb leader and 6lb fireline. The fish outsmarted us and we did not even see what it was. So another pass actually revealed the funniest moment in fishing I have had in a long time. I was up the front of the boat with the foot pedal re rigging after losing a jighead and we were facing upstream when my girlfriend yells out. I turn around to see a single sculler no less than 2 meters from the rear of the boat. I yelled out to him, but he hit the back of the 4mm plate boat Now what follows is hilarious and you will see why in a second. After the collision took place, it was a fair shunt, the sculler's boat tipped over and he fell out into the drink The trainers were right up the back of the field and raced up to help him out. One of the other scullers said " boats are to quite these days " and I replied " yeah " as I was laughing. But what made this even funnier was the fact that unbeknownst to me he had already turned around and seen us about 20metres away and my girlfriend looked him straight in the eyes. There is no way he could not have seen us. I guess he wanted us to move, but me being up the front of the boat and not seeing him, well it was never going to happen. So after the little early morning amusement we moved further down river to try some spots where I have pulled bream before. So we start fishing and my girlfriend has to keep baiting up cause she knows she is just feeding the fish. She managed another bream of around 28cms. Meanwhile over in Sp land I am getting Call. Far Call actually on the sp's. Heaps of hits but no hook ups. So I rip off the sp and put a tiny piece of Hawkesbury river prawn tail on the jig. First cast and I’m onto a nice 40cm flattie. Landed the fish and he broke the 6lb leader with all his thrashing abouts whilst I’m trying to show my girlfriend what a flathead looks like. See ya mr flathead and off he swims. Several more passes later and more fish feeding I changed back to sp's only to get the local toad fish patrol interested to maul the sp's. So off we went in search of some bream under the boats. Now normally this would be a good idea, but as it turned out it was fruitless and fishless. The current was running to quickly and the wind was blowing even harder. So after a while we returned to the previous spot in hope the toads had gone away. I switch back to another prawn tail on the jig head and bam another nice flattie. Now this flattie had been watching to many kingy's cause he obviously wants to be a kingfish when he grows up and thought he would get some practice in on me. Well I was having none of it and after a spirited fight the 45cm flathead was on board. Again this one broke the leader, must be related to the previous lizard and he was returned quickly to the water. Now meanwhile somewhere in baitland down the back of the boat, I see my girlfriend baiting up and hitting the same spot over and over again and getting absolutely handled. Now this girl can fish so there was something smart and big around. So she baits up again and whack line starts spooling off and after a quick tighten of the drag she is into a good fight in shallow ( less that 1.3 metres ) water. Well she pulls a stonking 30-32cm bream that was so fat he was going to explode. She had defiantley been feeding him. Now this bream was nick named NEMO as he was missing a fin After a couple of shots of the digi camera we released him. Many casts later I hook up on a bigger fish that has me working hard to land him. I got him to the boat and landed a nice35-36cm bream that was very wide and had a nice belly on him. Well the jighead was down his gut and he was bleeding. No time for shots here, the girlfriend had the camera ready, so I cut the leader and sent him on his way. So another trip up to the bridge, as the rain set in and no fish due to the heavy current running past the pylons. So we headed back to the previous spot. I spotted what looked like small jews working the flats in less that 60cm's of water. 50cm fish but they were darting around everywhere kicking up sand so it was hard to see what it was. Saw some big silver bream flashes and small baitfish were jumping everywhere. No hook ups and it was time to go home. It was a nice day and we had heaps of fun, but I’m disappointed that I used bait and did not persist with the sp's. Next time I wont make that mistake. Cheers Lee P.s - Here is NEMO the 1 finned bream.

  11. Well done mate. Great fish. Shame you lucked out on the kingy's. So since we are both still kingy virgins maybe we can both try to get that monkey off our back one day soon. man i'm sick of hooking up to them and getting wasted. Cheers Lee
  12. yeah I forgot to mention that a local dealer out my way offers cash backs as well. PM me for the details. They also sell allycraft. Cheers Lee
  13. Id say look at rthe blue fins and maybe the elegant boats. Buy whatever suits your budget and family. Also look at the dealers that may have demo models wiht some hours on it. usually a bit cheaper. Cheers Lee
  14. Well done Snag. It is an awsome boat. Got to love the bench seat that converts into the casting deck. I almost bought one and was very impressed with the whole setup
  15. Well I added some more hours to the boat last night. Trolled for some Bass and Ep's and managed to raise 3 Bass and 2 Ep's. None of good size and worthy of any pics, although an EP went over 30cms and was fat. Awsome fun to watch these guys hit the lures whilst trolling. However I did get a great shot of the sun set. All in all a great night and good fun had by all. Cheers Lee
  16. Well done mate. Shame about the camera Cheers Lee
  17. Well done Chris. Glad to see you back out there. have to catch up soon for a fish and christen the new tub in botany Cheers Lee

    Merry Xmas To Me

No Joe just one, but it shows the size of the well with a PFD 1 in it. Put in 100 litres today and it still had around about another 20 litres before it went into the overflow. Cheers Lee

  22. Well I took my girlfriend up to Buff point on Friday to teach her how to fish for bream. Now the spot that we went to is a nice little secret spot that produces mostly small to medium bream but they always seem to be there in massive numbers. Now the reason I chose this spot was to get back to basic's as I haven't been fishing for sometime now and my girlfriend has not fished in over 4 years. So off in the 4wd we went on Saturday morning to get some bait and a hat for the girlfriend from the local tackle shop. After parting with $10.50 for a packet of Hawkesbury Prawns we left, forgetting to buy a hat derrrrrrrrr, so I went without my hat so as her face and neck would not get burned. So off we went to the secret spot to wet a line. The excitement was high as I was in the need to land some fish. So before we started I confirmed that she knew how to fish and could cast but to my surprise she knew how to cast very well. So we began to fish and before you know it my girlfriend has landed a small bream. Now she hates baiting up due to the fact she hates seafood and the hooks have previously pulled out of her baits in the past, so her confidence level of baiting up is well down. She said she will try it next time, so I had to bait her up in between teaching her the finer points of bait fishing and in between trying to fish myself. Well now this was the start of a trend for her as it was bait up, loose bait, bait up, catch fish, bait up, catch fish, loose bait, bait up, and catch fish. Now she actually caught a reasonable sized bream around the 25cm mark and was very happy with herself. As the day progressed she was actually listening to what I was saying about twitching baits (getting her ready for sp’s), how to hold the rod (it was windy, very windy) down close to the water to stop wind blowing slack into the line and how not to just reel fish in by just reeling them onto the rod, but to lift up and use the rod to tire out the fish. She actually caught well over 30 bream and a little whiting for the day. She is actually quite a good angler and I think with some more tuition she will be a very very very competent angler. Now I caught a fair amount of fish as well including a bream of just over 30cms, which was almost unstoppable as I had plopped the bait some 20 metres from shore and was only using 4 lb line with 6 lb leader on my 1-3kg 7 foot Sik Stik Pro. He managed to wrap me around another line but I landed him safely and after some untangling of lines, he was with his captor. However the hook was well down his throat, but after some surgery it was removed as the hook was near his gills and he started bleeding badly. At this time I returned the bream to the water to swim again but he went belly up. So off came the socks and shoes and in I went to rescue him. After spending 3 mins or so trying to revive him (the bleeding had stopped), he swum off again to fight another day. I was very excited to see the bream swim back into the blue. With all the baiting up and tutoring I spent less time, much les time, in the water than my girlfriend. All in all it was a great day and we both got a little burned. I had a great day and the best moment for me was not "the fish of the dayâ€, rather it was look on my girlfriends face when she was catching fish and the anticipation she had every time I baited her up ( which I was thanked for every time for doing so ). It was a memorable day and the start of many fishing expeditions to come between us. Cheers Lee
